  • One of the most famous actors in Hollywood tries to keep his diagnosis under wraps - and ends up becoming the face of AIDS in America.
From the co-creators of Slow Burn, Fiasco is a narrative podcast that transports listeners into the day-to-day reality of America’s most pivotal historical events. Using original interviews with dozens of key players, host Leon Neyfakh brings to life the forgotten twists and turns of the past while shedding light on the present day. The new season of Fiasco goes deep on the AIDS epidemic in America, with a special focus on the early years of the crisis, when a diagnosis was tantamount to a death sentence. The eight-part series looks at the mystery and missteps around identifying and treating a new, contagious disease, and what it took to get the public -and the government- to care.

I worked in home health as an R.N. and took care of alot of Dr. Gottliebs' patients. I was so impressed with his knowlege and compassion my partner and I started seeing him for our medical care. Why luckily I still am alive my partner Rick succumbed to the disease. Dr. Gottlieb gave him 3 yrs of attentive and compasionate care. I will always remember and respect what he did for his patients.

Leave it to the loudest, most ignorant people in the room, to cause hardship & difficulties for people on their deathbed. The right wing hasn't changed. What I don't get is why Reagan was so popular when he did so much damage to Americans & America.

Why is what has been written in your mind ignorant. Regan along with other prominent people stuck their heads in the sand when it came to AIDS that the delay in major action cost thousands of needless deaths..

he came after Carter and was elected after the Miracle on Ice and the 1980s were pretty easy on a lot of Americans compared to the 1970s. I mean I think he's the devil incarnate; but people were reacting more to the times than him and he seemed "in charge". Same reason people like Clinton- the 90s were a good time for many people, and no one has liked folks after that because the US has been a hot mess since 9/11

Ronald Reagan is one of the greatest American Presidents, and no he wasn’t encouraging “Crisco orgies” @ the bathhouse.
