ive seen several videos on how to budget and honestly yours was the best...its not complicated. its not expensive...doesnt require a fancy journal with stickers and colorful sticky note..just a simple sheet of paper and a pen.
Another tip would be to budget your alloted amount of money you would spend minimally for your expenses per month EVERY MONTH.. and whatever you don't spend just put it into your savings account. And to use up products before you purchase more.
Yes, great tip. I started sinking funds, which are free savings accounts online for different things. If u do a zero based budget and make sure every dollar gets a job then we will have money on autopilot going into savings accounts thru schedule transfers going in to these expenses like bills. So, if the money isn't spent it will have it's on bucket so when u do need it it will be there. U can choose to put it savings at some point to but we need to zero out our budget before each month begins to prevent pit falls of over/unwise spending. Just speaking from experience.

@@hyattjoshua5676 What matters is the CONSISTENT return on your money in both an upward and downward market. A 3 year old could make money in a market going up. 3 weeks? Try 3 years then back to us. $800 is what many of us go up and down with in a few minutes. Its meaningless.

Sephora is a beast. I agree with the pay your bills first tip. I used to have a lot of credit card debt and this approach combined with some simple annual goal-setting got me out of debt.
Great video Brittany, you remind me of myself,at your age ... but I was married with 2 children studying towards a degree in fashion design.... but had to manage with the my husbands, income ...he was excellent in managing money. Only started to work at age 31...so I had to account for every penny ...i use to write down all my spending , even if it was just an iceream. I am proud to say 40 years later, both my children are married with degrees and great careers ...I am retired and am grandmother to 5 young ladies . All the hard work has paid off ..so keep up with your great work..I only wish there was you tube in those days..to help and advise me...thank you ...you really are an inspiration ...enjoy
It's so true....do not compare yourself to others because we really do not know what's really going on. My friend's daughter and boyfriend saved for 7 years, married and bought a house. They were very sensible about how they used their money. Their friends just blew money on clothes and hundreds of nights out. They married, struggled, rented, and some were jealous and angry about the couple and even called them snobs. They weren't snobs, they were clever.
Brittany, what great reminders. These are things my mother taught me when I was a teen living at home. Watching you, I can remember mom and I sitting at the kitchen table and her telling me these things. You're smart to be young and following these tips. ~Smile!
Hi Brittany. I’m totally new when it comes to Budgeting. Never done it before and don’t know where to even start ☺️. But I’m now really needing to do this because we are currently NOT saving anything at all and that’s not good. We are a family of 4. Mom, dad son and daughter. Happy family. I’m a housewife and my husband works very hard. Being a mom and a wife , I need to get my act together so that I could start to save some saving, those saving can put toward home improvement, vacation, better car, or whatever..... after watching your video. I finally got it. I will keep you posted to see how much I can save at the end of every month. We really need to do this budgeting long ago instead of wasting our money for dinner, vacation, movie, tons of shopping. Thank you again Brittany. Bye
Great idea! I just started using putting my money in different accounts. I think I need to do an update video on this topic, I've learned a lot and doing things that are helping me save more money.
Liked your video. Quote to live by: "Better to look broke and have money, than to look fabulous and be broke." Proverbs 12:9 "Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food." Proverbs 13:7 "One person pretends to be rich yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth." I do have a few sort of negative comments (sorry). Your budget plan lacked: 1. electric bill, water/sewage bill, car maintenance (may only need repair once a year, but must be planned for monthly), household items (soaps, laundry bath and dish; etc.) home improvement (yes, renters do this too because they want their place to feel like Their home); lawn maintenance (renters may buy plants and balcony items), gifts (holidays birthdays weddings, etc.) vacations, entertainment, my office required me to pay for going-away gifts and group bonding stuff-said it's optional but not really, and dry cleaning. 2. It would improve your ability to help us if you worked with clients on their budgets. Your tips would take on the patterns you'd spot as you viewed where people get stuck in 'sand pits'. For example; one fellow noticed that his clients had a lot of junk (this lead to storage and clutter issues). He told people, "Stop buying ugly stuff." This helped with storage issues as they no longer had to 'hide' the items. Saved a lot of money because people do buy items that they later on don't use- because it was ugly to begin with (bought in a 'utilitarian' mood). Please don't be offended. I like and appreciate your video and advise. You have a gift for helping people and I hope my suggestions will make your advise even better.
swcomer thank you so much and I understand where you’re coming from. This budget plan was for beginners and I just gave small examples just to show how it’s done for someone who has no idea where to start. The examples were meant to plug in whatever the person needs. Also, when I made this video my utilities were included in my rent, much like a college student. That’s why. But you didn’t offend me. A lot of people said the same thing. I didn’t think about established adults when I made the video last year. I thought about where I was and the young ppl I wanted to help. I appreciate you taking the time out to write me 😊
This is an AMAZING video! Gas is definitely a ‘bill’ for me cuz I depend on my car to get me to & from work! I already literally write down all of spending & where I spend at! My mom calls me “cheap” but hey, that’s why I have a handle on my money! 💁🏾💕 I just put it all in my agenda! Never did the monthly plan because my cheques fluctuate since I’m still hourly!
As a student I don't have any income, but i have to save money, as i'm alr in a lot of debt. The way of planning possible expenses for each month is super helpful thank you so much for your video! its made my life so much easier :)
This is seriously a great video. I have a daughter who will be starting 9th grade soon. I am going to share this video with her. I feel it is a very helpful video especially for young people. It was simply put and physically writing it out was a great exercise. I wish someone sat down with me when I was younger and showed me the ropes with finances. I really like the fact that your videos are geared toward college age viewers. Sometimes its easier to receive advice from your contemporary, as oppose to someone older (the tone is more like, "Girl, let me help you" instead of "You should be doing this..."). Keep up the good work. These videos can produce a greater return than you can ever imagine (and I am not just talking money).
Thank you so much for your kind words! I really appreciate that. This is my passion, my mission, exactly what I want is to help young people become better, more responsible adults. Thank you for your words of encouragement.
Very helpful I just started today setting a budget for myself. My budget for me to spend on myself is $50 a week and the rest will be for bills and to save. And what I have left over out of the $50 I'll put in my savings along with what is left over after bills are paid.
I agree 100%. It's smarter to pay everything off 100% or way more than the minium BUT the reality is most people don't so I was giving a more realistic example but you're right.
I know. I hate debt and the interest. :). We never had any debt besides the mortgage, and I can't wait to get rid of that, but it will take years and years :(. We use credit cards to get the rewards and pay them off as soon as the bills come. :)
This is teh wrong way to live, please read the book Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki. With the way you're living you accumulating debt (house by mortgage) thinking it's an asset.
I have read the book. How am I accumulating debt this way? I never said how much debt the EXAMPLE had, nor did I give the balances of the EXAMPLE credit cards. I am giving people a realistic budget, not the most perfect one. It is up the individual to tailor their budget to their life style. But thank you for the comment. Most people have debt and don't pay on it at all. This way, it gives them a starting point.
I agree about Paying Bills First. I pay at around Two Weeks in advance and I remember "when" they are due. I also ask for Five Dollar Bills when I get change. I also have a Piggybank and One Year I saved $400.00 in Coins and I was able to use it for Xmas Shopping. When I get Paid on Friday I take my Tablet and pay My Bills Online and get a confirmation Number that I write on The Bill to prove that it was paid. Another thing that is good is a Transaction Register Book that you could get at Staples. That's My Money Bible because I know exactly where the Money is. I don't Smoke & Drink which helps alot in terms of saving. I Brown Bag My Lunch and on Friday I treat myself. I've cut down on Magazines, CD's, and DVD's which has helped alot. Even when I am at a Restaurant I always pay in Cash.
Girl your video is the bomb. Why? Well you just taught me how to budget for the things that I want and need by planning ahead. Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you - great tips! My questions are kind of silly, but I feel like many folks in my boat (struggling but are at the point of knowing & wanting to change) struggle with the questions I'm going to ask: (1) When in the month do you do your budgeting? (2) How do you remember & motivate yourself to actually do the budget at the correct time? (3) What do you do if you are in a store/out with friends, and there is social pressure/influence to spend more than you intended? As in, how do you snap yourself back to your own financial reality, and not spend that $? Thanks ahead of time!! :)
Don't doubt yourself baby girl. The video had mad information. Thanks for the advice. I added to my existing budgeting list. Every bit of information helps. Keep up the good work.
It depends on what you want. For me, when my hair is done, I feel better about myself. I like to look good. It makes me feel good. Now that was just a general figure, I don't spend that much money on hair each month. I haven't gotten my hair done or bought hair in months! BUT I think this video just teaches you tips on how to manage what you have. How you spend your money and what you spend it on is up to the person.
Things that I learned and doing :Minimalism(still trying), budget and planning , save most of my income , healthy choices, self care( i do my hair , makeup, nails by myself) and being cautious about my spendings ..
Also, go Christmas sopping in August. There are lots of sales, you can still use coupons and the retailers haven't marked everything up. Start a Christmas account, put money away all year maybe even some tax money, till August, go shopping and its over. No Christmas shopping on credit needed. Glad you are showing budgeting. I found that if a person defines their financial goals, they will think of them more often than they think and they will find ways to achieve the goal faster. Great video!
New subbie! Where where you when I was in my 20's. I'm now in my 30's and I've learned all of this by experience. I would have rather not experienced this first hand, if you know what I mean.
Yes same I am in college and this is my life story. This is my first time also having a job and living on my own so I didn't know how to act when I got my paycheck but now I am learning. I try not to look at what other people got and just where what I have in my closet because having money to buy food is better cause you can't eat your clothing
Thanks so much! This video was super helpful and unique. A lot of your tips I've never heard or it came across before. I love the fact that you actually broke down and showed how you physically do your budget. Great job girl and that's for the vid! God bless! 😘
Just watched both videos about what you should and shouldn't splurge your money on and I learned ALOT. This video also motivated me to try out your budgeting tips/examples.. I found this video just in time because college is about to start, I have a little job now!
I'm so happy they helped you! I want to do a college series. Is there anything you would like to see or know before going to school? Also, your college years are about to be your best! I'm so happy for you! Good luck with everything and please keep me posted! Also, if you do have any suggestions, I will see them faster if you DM me on IG. Sometimes it's hard to find/see comments if I have a bunch on top of them.
I am going to stop buying things from the stores for a long while and keep saving money in my Dime Bank Savings Account and reach a total of $8,000 by putting $400 each into my bank account to go to California with my parents and Tammy Mazza in October 2018.
That's great! I don't think you will need that much for your trip. Maybe a few hundred but saving in general is a great idea! I'm happy you found a system that worked for you!
I’m really bad about spending money tbh.. the second I get paid I blow it all off. I just recently turned 18 and I want to start developing good habits now before I start to get into the real world. Thanks for the tips ☺️🙏 They helped a lot!
OMG, I love #2! I ALWAYS do that!! Hahah it really does work. After I sleep on it and wake up and look at my cart, I don't like the stuff anymore and feel happy I didn't end up spending that money.
1:34 this is the philosophy my mom taught me. I found this to be true. Most rich folks dont flaunt their wealth. Helps with not getting robbed too as a bonus!
Love your videos but this one really reinforced things I already knew but fail at doing at times so thank you very much. I will be keeping up to date with your videos. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
I am SO glad that I found your channel! You have the most informative content in a simple approach that anybody can follow. I swear I'm watching the video and you remind me of a very wise friend that's humble enough to share her knowledge!!! Blessings Sis!
A wonderful app I discovered to help with my budget is Prism. Absolute lifesaver! I can link all bills to it and my bank account. So on pay day I can click on the bill and BAM it's paid! It shows what you start with at the beginning of the month and what you should have at the end....which I never do but it puts it in perspective.
I always love coming back to this video, specially when i need it the most. Thank u sooo much for these tips Brittanyyy!!!

HerHighnesss88 subhanallah 🙌🏾🙏🏾 This is TRUE. And when you don't do your part in zakat (charity), charity will come from you ANYWAY..... Ever lose money? 😩😂😂 exactly 🤷🏾♀️
Pardon
that’s actually not true. Gold, silver, food and livestock are all accepted. It’s just that giving money is easier.
Her: " sorry for the noise , i live in ny, welcome to my chanel"
Me: pause, subcribe, play.
Elmahdy Fatima same!!!!
Exactly 💯
Same !!! Lmao
Sephora is a beast. I agree with the pay your bills first tip. I used to have a lot of credit card debt and this approach combined with some simple annual goal-setting got me out of debt.
Go girl!!!
When she said "dont spend it all on a bag" I thought she meant weed and I was like "Damn she knows me" lol
Lmao me too 😂
Priorities and satisfaction. Spend it!
Hahaha same applies😂
🤣🤣🤣,I just died and came back
Great video Brittany, you remind me of myself,at your age ... but I was married with 2 children studying towards a degree in fashion design.... but had to manage with the my husbands, income ...he was excellent in managing money.
Thank you for your kind words!!! I really appreciate it!
Bye
I have so many more budgeting and money videos coming soon, please come back for more!
I split my wages in two separate accounts , one for bills the other for me
Great idea! I just started using putting my money in different accounts. I think I need to do an update video on this topic, I've learned a lot and doing things that are helping me save more money.
Yes make an updated one please!
u need 2 more. another for savings and another for emergency
Very smart
Two different banks ?
Theoretically, one could take that extra $1K+ and pay off the credit cards bills. The credit cards do not necessarily have to always be there.
Honestly, online window shopping is such a great way to save money!
I do it all the time!
Liked your video. Quote to live by: "Better to look broke and have money, than to look fabulous and be broke." Proverbs 12:9 "Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food." Proverbs 13:7 "One person pretends to be rich yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth."
I do have a few sort of negative comments (sorry). Your budget plan lacked:
1. electric bill, water/sewage bill, car maintenance (may only need repair once a year, but must be planned for monthly), household items (soaps, laundry bath and dish; etc.) home improvement (yes, renters do this too because they want their place to feel like Their home); lawn maintenance (renters may buy plants and balcony items), gifts (holidays birthdays weddings, etc.) vacations, entertainment, my office required me to pay for going-away gifts and group bonding stuff-said it's optional but not really, and dry cleaning.
I appreciate you taking the time out to write me 😊
You're the best.
I definitely try this budget plan next month. Thanks
As a student I don't have any income, but i have to save money, as i'm alr in a lot of debt. The way of planning possible expenses for each month is super helpful
thank you so much for your video! its made my life so much easier :)
Thank you for breaking down the budget it help me work on my own. Keep up the positive work!
OMG this is the first video I've ever seen that broke down budgeting in a simple manner. Thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
Why only pay minimums on the credit cards and accure more debt with the interest on it, if you have so much income to play with?
I agree 100%. It's smarter to pay everything off 100% or way more than the minium BUT the reality is most people don't so I was giving a more realistic example but you're right.
I know. I hate debt and the interest. :). We never had any debt besides the mortgage, and I can't wait to get rid of that, but it will take years and years :(. We use credit cards to get the rewards and pay them off as soon as the bills come. :)
My frugal life and spend $500 on clothes lol
I like the advice about how not to be jealous of other people regarding how they dress. That was golden.
Your skin loooks soooo glowwwwy love it and great tips brit !
Thanks girl!!! I posted another vlog!
Okay boo I'll check it out
With the money that you're saving, do you not put any of it into a 401k or any type of investment?
agree!!!
Good advice... I’m trying super hard to budget and the tips you gave we’re good... I will be trying this method for next month
I just started my internship job about 6 months ago there are times i go broke within 2 days from getting my salary. Thank you so much i needed this
I agree about Paying Bills First. Even when I am at a Restaurant I always pay in Cash.
,such a beautiful and smart young lady, yOu are a inspiration very wise beyond your years may God continue to bless you, and all your ways ✌
Thank you so much.
Just a tip though. I do my budget by separating liabilities & assets, expenses & income. It really works!! U did an amazing job sweets!
Girl your video is the bomb. Why? Well you just taught me how to budget for the things that I want and need by planning ahead. Keep up the good work!!!
Thank you very much! Let me know if there are any videos you would like to see on my channel.
I second that. I've made so many notes already and I'm not even done
Just found your channel and it's been really impactful. Thank you for sharing. I'd definitely get better after trying out these tips.
“Thanks for saying according to your religious background” it really gives even perspective on things :) means a lot
Keep up the good work.
wow, i love your explanation. very clear. but when should a budget plan make? at the beginning of the month or at the end of the month?
Wow....$300 on hair???? So happy I have locs which I've maintained for 15 years. When I calculate the savings I hug myself. 🤗
Girl!!! If you do get your hair done on the regular, like weave and install, it's a whole bill! lol
Brittany Daniel is it worth it?
It depends on what you want. For me, when my hair is done, I feel better about myself. I like to look good. It makes me feel good. Now that was just a general figure, I don't spend that much money on hair each month. I haven't gotten my hair done or bought hair in months! BUT I think this video just teaches you tips on how to manage what you have. How you spend your money and what you spend it on is up to the person.
MsRefined1 i have locs as well and i buy wigs to switch up.
Definitely a discretionary cost that can be put towards saving... Doing my own hair/nails/ eyebrows have allowed me to save too much!
fabulous video.. you explained beautifully don't worry...I really need to improve on this
Love hearing other young women preach fiscal responsibility!!
Great video 🖤🖤
Things that I learned and doing :Minimalism(still trying), budget and planning , save most of my income , healthy choices, self care( i do my hair , makeup, nails by myself) and being cautious about my spendings ..
You are soo pretty girl!! Kind of remind me of Brandy! #workit #flawless :)
Thank you so much!!!
Very helpful! I’m going to implement these strategies tmrw I just started two new jobs! Desperately want to change my bad spending habits
I laughed at the last part where u went over budget and shopping went from $500 down to $75 😆but it really helps to write things down
It really does! lol
Yes that was a hilarious moment. Kinda sad too
Also, go Christmas sopping in August.
Thanks for you support lol I really appreciate it!
Thank you for the tips. I will try my best to keep on track. xoxo
This was very good. Glad to see you getting this concept as a young woman.
I love it when you say that i should not get jealous with other people.. So true...
Found 2 years later and more than a hundred saving and budget tips vid, this is the best
Thank you.
Thank you for this I need this to finance responsibly.

it helps a lot.. tnx Brittany. no more being broke
lol you're welcome!
God bless! 😘
Thank you soo much! This was very helpful! I'm defiantly going to try your trick.
i love these tips. I agree with paying everything first, to make sure you don't get into trouble! :)
I need seen bills separated from expenses. I am going to try your method to see how my budget will look.
Pay my bills first, and i save 25 weekly and if i can do.more i do.. i budget very well
..thx for sharing 🌸🙋♀️
Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I'm going to try these saving tips. Thank you again, God bless & take care 🎀
Your makeup looks really good sis! 😍 Great video! I definitely learned something and will recommend it to others! 👍🏾
Thank you so much!
This was a very helpful video Brittany. I plan to implement some of your tips.
You did a great job explaining!
That budget plan is on point 👍👍 thanks, will definitely try it out
Great tips, thank you for sharing.

No problem, if there is anything else you would like to see on my channel please let me know!
I will
Seeing that plan helps ALOT! It’s simple
Thank you, I'm happy it helped.
Loved this video - so informative!
Thank you very much!
This video is so much more helpful than others; they just talk in circles and just reappear what they just said
LOL I'm so happy I was able to help and explain it better for you.
Great video! I too keep track of where my money 💰 goes every month! It helps a lot! 😊
It's harder than it looks, but it's easy if you do it everyday or with every transaction. I'm happy it helped!
