      This also works in a similar way with amazon. You leave the not so urgent stuff in the cart and when they drop the price you can see it easier when you look in your cart.

      Make sure when you tith that you also save your money for yourself. It's wonderful to give but if you have nothing left over to take care of you that's not the best place to be in. You can't pour out of an empty cup. Not saying not to, just make sure you're saving too.

      Tithing is where your blessings come from. God blessed you with the job to have your income. You are not donating when you tithe, that is what you owe God. Malachi 3: 7-10 God says, pay your tithes and He will pour out blessings where you will not have enough room to recieve them. 10% off of any increase you recieve (gross not net). Pay your tithes, savings then bills and watch God work!!! Believe me i truly know. All it takes is for you to fall ill and not be able to work. God will supply.

    Another tip would be to budget your alloted amount of money you would spend minimally for your expenses per month EVERY MONTH.. and whatever you don't spend just put it into your savings account. And to use up products before you purchase more.

    • @almmason7
      @almmason7 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, great tip. I started sinking funds, which are free savings accounts online for different things. If u do a zero based budget and make sure every dollar gets a job then we will have money on autopilot going into savings accounts thru schedule transfers going in to these expenses like bills. So, if the money isn't spent it will have it's on bucket so when u do need it it will be there. U can choose to put it savings at some point to but we need to zero out our budget before each month begins to prevent pit falls of over/unwise spending. Just speaking from experience.

      napré wow 12 I wasn't even thinking like this! You're bomb! If you start good habits now like saving and budgeting and then when you become an adult and keep your credit good, you will be a millionaire. Good luck and yes, save your money. I would spend it on experience more than things honestly because when you become my age, you won't care about anything you buy with that money now. But if you save it and invest it, you can triple that amount and more! Keep me posted!

When I'm older, I want to live in a good environment, but that means I need to spend for money, therefor I am going to put more money to the side right now so when I'm older I'll have more options, like maybe to buy a house, or a new car, etc. These tips helped me sooo much.

      Amen, I like that. You're right. In the Christian church their is a lot of poverty. People give and mismanage their money and or don't save it. OR we are not taught to save correctly. I definitely believe in giving 100% but you won't be rewarded IF that giving is done with a heart of regret. If you give what you can't afford then you won't feel good about giving and in return not be blessed because it didn't come from a loving place. That was what I meant by that.

    It's so true....do not compare yourself to others because we really do not know what's really going on. My friend's daughter and boyfriend saved for 7 years, married and bought a house. They were very sensible about how they used their money. Their friends just blew money on clothes and hundreds of nights out. They married, struggled, rented, and some were jealous and angry about the couple and even called them snobs. They weren't snobs, they were clever.

But I’m now really needing to do this because we are currently NOT saving anything at all and that’s not good. We are a family of 4. Mom, dad son and daughter. Happy family. I’m a housewife and my husband works very hard. Being a mom and a wife , I need to get my act together so that I could start to save some saving, those saving can put toward home improvement, vacation, better car, or whatever..... after watching your video. I finally got it. I will keep you posted to see how much I can save at the end of every month. We really need to do this budgeting long ago instead of wasting our money for dinner, vacation, movie, tons of shopping. Thank you again Brittany. Bye

    Liked your video. Quote to live by: "Better to look broke and have money, than to look fabulous and be broke." Proverbs 12:9 "Better to be a nobody and yet have a servant than pretend to be somebody and have no food." Proverbs 13:7 "One person pretends to be rich yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth."
    I do have a few sort of negative comments (sorry). Your budget plan lacked:
    1. electric bill, water/sewage bill, car maintenance (may only need repair once a year, but must be planned for monthly), household items (soaps, laundry bath and dish; etc.) home improvement (yes, renters do this too because they want their place to feel like Their home); lawn maintenance (renters may buy plants and balcony items), gifts (holidays birthdays weddings, etc.) vacations, entertainment, my office required me to pay for going-away gifts and group bonding stuff-said it's optional but not really, and dry cleaning.
    2. It would improve your ability to help us if you worked with clients on their budgets. Your tips would take on the patterns you'd spot as you viewed where people get stuck in 'sand pits'. For example; one fellow noticed that his clients had a lot of junk (this lead to storage and clutter issues). He told people, "Stop buying ugly stuff." This helped with storage issues as they no longer had to 'hide' the items. Saved a lot of money because people do buy items that they later on don't use- because it was ugly to begin with (bought in a 'utilitarian' mood).
    Please don't be offended. I like and appreciate your video and advise. You have a gift for helping people and I hope my suggestions will make your advise even better.

      swcomer thank you so much and I understand where you’re coming from. This budget plan was for beginners and I just gave small examples just to show how it’s done for someone who has no idea where to start. The examples were meant to plug in whatever the person needs. Also, when I made this video my utilities were included in my rent, much like a college student. That’s why. But you didn’t offend me. A lot of people said the same thing. I didn’t think about established adults when I made the video last year. I thought about where I was and the young ppl I wanted to help. I appreciate you taking the time out to write me 😊

    This is seriously a great video. I have a daughter who will be starting 9th grade soon. I am going to share this video with her. I feel it is a very helpful video especially for young people. It was simply put and physically writing it out was a great exercise. I wish someone sat down with me when I was younger and showed me the ropes with finances. I really like the fact that your videos are geared toward college age viewers. Sometimes its easier to receive advice from your contemporary, as oppose to someone older (the tone is more like, "Girl, let me help you" instead of "You should be doing this..."). Keep up the good work. These videos can produce a greater return than you can ever imagine (and I am not just talking money).

    Very helpful I just started today setting a budget for myself. My budget for me to spend on myself is $50 a week and the rest will be for bills and to save. And what I have left over out of the $50 I'll put in my savings along with what is left over after bills are paid.

    Why only pay minimums on the credit cards and accure more debt with the interest on it, if you have so much income to play with?

    • @MrsBrittanyGold
      @MrsBrittanyGold  8 ปีที่แล้ว +65

      I agree 100%. It's smarter to pay everything off 100% or way more than the minium BUT the reality is most people don't so I was giving a more realistic example but you're right.

    • @Myfrugallife
      @Myfrugallife 8 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I know. I hate debt and the interest. :). We never had any debt besides the mortgage, and I can't wait to get rid of that, but it will take years and years :(. We use credit cards to get the rewards and pay them off as soon as the bills come. :)

      This is teh wrong way to live, please read the book Rich dad poor dad by Robert Kiyosaki.
      With the way you're living you accumulating debt (house by mortgage) thinking it's an asset.

    • @MrsBrittanyGold
      @MrsBrittanyGold  7 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I have read the book. How am I accumulating debt this way? I never said how much debt the EXAMPLE had, nor did I give the balances of the EXAMPLE credit cards. I am giving people a realistic budget, not the most perfect one. It is up the individual to tailor their budget to their life style. But thank you for the comment. Most people have debt and don't pay on it at all. This way, it gives them a starting point.

    I agree about Paying Bills First. I pay at around Two Weeks in advance and I remember "when" they are due. I also ask for Five Dollar Bills when I get change. I also have a Piggybank and One Year I saved $400.00 in Coins and I was able to use it for Xmas Shopping. When I get Paid on Friday I take my Tablet and pay My Bills Online and get a confirmation Number that I write on The Bill to prove that it was paid. Another thing that is good is a Transaction Register Book that you could get at Staples. That's My Money Bible because I know exactly where the Money is. I don't Smoke & Drink which helps alot in terms of saving. I Brown Bag My Lunch and on Friday I treat myself. I've cut down on Magazines, CD's, and DVD's which has helped alot. Even when I am at a Restaurant I always pay in Cash.

    Thank you - great tips! My questions are kind of silly, but I feel like many folks in my boat (struggling but are at the point of knowing & wanting to change) struggle with the questions I'm going to ask: (1) When in the month do you do your budgeting? (2) How do you remember & motivate yourself to actually do the budget at the correct time? (3) What do you do if you are in a store/out with friends, and there is social pressure/influence to spend more than you intended? As in, how do you snap yourself back to your own financial reality, and not spend that $? Thanks ahead of time!! :)

    • @MrsBrittanyGold
      @MrsBrittanyGold  7 ปีที่แล้ว +44

      It depends on what you want. For me, when my hair is done, I feel better about myself. I like to look good. It makes me feel good. Now that was just a general figure, I don't spend that much money on hair each month. I haven't gotten my hair done or bought hair in months! BUT I think this video just teaches you tips on how to manage what you have. How you spend your money and what you spend it on is up to the person.

    Also, go Christmas sopping in August. There are lots of sales, you can still use coupons and the retailers haven't marked everything up. Start a Christmas account, put money away all year maybe even some tax money, till August, go shopping and its over. No Christmas shopping on credit needed. Glad you are showing budgeting. I found that if a person defines their financial goals, they will think of them more often than they think and they will find ways to achieve the goal faster. Great video!

    A wonderful app I discovered to help with my budget is Prism. Absolute lifesaver! I can link all bills to it and my bank account. So on pay day I can click on the bill and BAM it's paid! It shows what you start with at the beginning of the month and what you should have at the end....which I never do but it puts it in perspective.
