I strongly recommend that you find your own way of turning. You are responsible for your own safety while woodworking. Read and understand the operation and safety manuals supplied with your tools and machinery to ensure you are safe while using such equipment.
As you guys already know, I don't have any interest in doing craft fairs, selling & the like but when I see you doing awesome stuff like this & the stuff on your last 2 or 3 videos it just shows me that there is easy cash to be made out there. 👍🏴
There really is Jim. It's just about pricing it right. This sort of stuff is good for your own use too. Ours will be on our Christmas table this year. Glad you liked the video.
Another great idea Glenn, many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Neil
Excellent idea
Thanks
Man, you are amazing with knowing your sizes for things!
Thank you
Love it, and thank you for not saying my name as I know Caroline would want it made 😅

Cracking job mate looks stunning. Will have to have a shot at this although my turning skills not gonna hold out much hope. Maybe one day. Dam you for not being closer to give me aome lessons. Although ever fancy trip to Scotland would be Greatful could even do a video 😁👍🏴
Scotland is too far for us mate, also with our 3 dogs.
@@glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308 well if you ever change your mind there's loads pet lodges aswell. Be InTouch soon 👍🏴
A great idea Glenn. Had to go to the shed and try them. Doing the third one I had a thought. Batch the base piece and turn the tops as snowmen or bells, thoughts?
That’s exactly what I do. I just showed the Christmas tree to give the idea. Well done, thank you for giving it a go
That looks awesome. What do you think of those drill bits? I used mine the other day, and I think they are great. They didn't really get hot, even after drilling a very deep hole (I had to use a drill extension bar).
I'm glad to see you're in the Christmas mood. 🎄
Thanks mate. I think those drill bits are fantastic. Nothing negative so far about anything I've bought off TEMU and I've bought quite a few things. Lol. Yes, you have to start now making stock for Christmas fairs. The videos are to give you ideas on what you can make that sell really well, if you price it right that is. Happy turning.
@@glennteagleofukwoodcraftca5308 I normally just give stuff away for gifts.
Any chance that you will be shipping to the states soon?
Had a go at making one of these, not as good as yours, pratice makes perfect. Where did you get the live steb centre from.
Thanks for giving it a go. Send us a pic. glen.teagle@sky.com Live Steb Centre is from Robert Sorby. The one in the chuck is from RDG Tools.
You can just see it Xmas lunch / dinner, anybody know were the the bloody tooth picks are ? 😊 nice one glen. ? That the Forstner drill bit you are using please
Thanks Jim. Glad you enjoyed it. Yes, this one is going on our Christmas table. I got those drill bits from TEMU.
I’m curious. What tool rest is that one you use all the time? I really like that one but I am having no luck finding one like that.
Made it myself.
Does the video not have sound?
There is sound. You can hear the cuts and the lathe. I just didn't talk.
Sometimes videos load incorrectly and the images show, but sound doesn't transmit. It's a YT thing. just close and reopen the app will resolve it.
Glenn what speed do you turn at , Video seems its very fast.
Welcome to the channel Kim. As fast as the piece allows and as safely as it is to do so. The video has been put on X2 speed to shorten the video time down, otherwise people just don't want to watch longer videos. Happy turning. Glenn & Liza
A formula I found from simple wood turning tools suggests for rpm:
"6,000 divided by diameter for roughing
9,000 divided by diameter for finishing.
6" bowls 1,000-1,500
5" bowls 1,200-1800
3" stock 2000-3,000
2" or smaller 3,000+"
But as Glenn said, as fast and as safely as you can. If you're not getting a good cut, double check tool Rest height. If good, sharpen your tool. If sharpened tool isn't improving your results, change the speed
@@keithomilak3693 thanks for the information. It’s about my turning speeds. Have been trying the 40/40 grind and not so happy, gone back to my normal grind and much happier thanks.
