This gives us a fun idea for a challenge! Can you beat pokemon red/blue with just pokemon?
No weapons, no armor, no magic, no limit breaks, no dual/triple techs, no job system, no sphere grid, and no shouts. Just pokemon in battle. Consumable items like potions and pokeballs are also allowed. Obviously it would be super difficult with all those restrictions, but it might just be possible.
Nearly impossible, but doable with some legendary RNG.

I love how this is just a normal play through! I get stressed any time I watch a nuzlocke
I remember playing platinum and finding 2 graveler shinies, in victory road, the first one blew up. At that point, I had no idea how rare they are, but I knew I had a lot more training to do, so I caught and trained a Golduck, switched it in on the second shiny and caught it, I still have it today.
During chuggaaconroy’s LP of Pokémon Platinum, he told a story about a friend of his who found two back to back Shiny Gravelers in Mt. Coronet, both of which used Self-Destruct on the first turn.

I thought I was the single most intellectually gifted person who ever existed because I named my Grotle "Ambush" in Diamond, it made me smile to hear you say ambush even if it was a different pokemon. It brings back so many great memories I have as a little kid ♥️

I recently did a re-playthrough of Platinum (cartridge) and holy crap my shiny luck was about the same as yours! My fourth (yup... 1-2-3-4!) came outside on Route 225 in a Fearow. Krickitot on Eterna Forest, Marill on Rt. 212 while grinding, and Wooper in the Great Marsh my first time through it. I'm still gobsmacked over it.
I like being able to just watch a normal playthrough from Mikey with no conditions.

Fun memory: I'll never forget the day my mom bought Platinum for me. It was waiting for me at home because I had to stay after school to give a speech for my communications class. I got home after NAILING the presentation, chose Chimchar as my starter and I KID YOU NOT, the first Pokemon I encountered (post getting Poke Balls) was a SHINY STARLY! I caught it, female with a crappy nature BUT it was on my team throughout the game!

Not just 6 hours. You have to wait hours and then there’s only a 1% chance on one tree in the entire region. Barry really is an underrated rival when it comes to power.
