@@mikep7810 I really appreciate all you guys sharing farm life. I grew up on Long Island in potato country but never worked an ag farm due to it being seasonal. I instead worked a bird farm raising ducks, pheasants, quail. I loved it at 14-16 years old.

Hey mike just saw this grate video I saw the last one I’ve always wondered what it was like farming back in the 80s all the way up to the 2000s the last year we hauled with wagons was with my grandpas old home made wagon it worked nice have a nice day and uh it would be nice if the snow went away I’m Bord of it lol
Me and my dad just started farming last year on the few acres at home and about 60 other acres we don’t own hopefully one day I can look back at my future farm

The best upgrade we made, hands down, was trading the 4230 in for the 4055. We have been looking at cheaper tractors because we have to put a lot of work into the 4040 and it wasn't necessarily the best year for farming so we were checking out of Ford tractors
Great video Mike. The then and now is interesting to see. When you were cleaning the barn with the skid steer i had to stop and think. How did anybody get stuff done with one.
I bet that 4055 was really working that chopper..... it is rated at 200HP. Unless you turned the screw... isn’t that amazing how a pain job changes the outlook of the 520? That turned out great! great video
@@rickperry9546 Lol thats what I assumed you meant. I remember chopping with the fp240 with the 4055. I had to chop in 1st gear. God forbid I chop 2 rows instead of taking all 3! The 4555 was a welcomed addition
@@rickperry9546 When the corn isn't chopped to the right length the research by several universities have shown that the food value diminishes and so does the milk check. There are several more factors but we are sure you know all about all this.

Cold climate dairying farming and in an industry where Class I milk sales are down almost 50% from 20 years ago. A very hard way to make a living. Glad my days of doing that are behind me.

Its Scott Hintch. He doesn't post that much on TH-cam anymore but the videos he posted are great. He never had a tie stall barn he had a flat barn parlor and went to 2 lely robots. His channel name is hinch680. He did a wonderful videos when he had the robots installed and how the cows took to them

Is Lucky still around? My grandpa had a cow named Moose I used to climb all over. She was a gentle giant. She was sold at his auction when he sold out in 1998. I’m hoping to take a farm over here before long and start by renting.
I'm not 100% sure on the overall dimensions. As you can see, my parents did the initial remodel when I was a kid. If you wanted to build a barn just like this you wouldn't want to build it 100% like we have it. You would want your own length and width depending on the number of cows you were going to house. If you had more cows you would want a bigger barn. If you only had a couple cows then you wouldn't need one the size we have. You just need the overall layout, which you can see in my videos, then build it to the dimensions you desire

My dad doesn't want to retire. My brother splits night milking with him. I believe the only sealed silo like that you can get new is harvestore. You can buy used silos and have them set up on your farm if you can find them. My uncle's cows went for dairy cows. Down in Amish country, my cousins are still in high school so too young to take over the farm

It wasn't bad. We had the HP turned up to around 130 when it was running the 900.
