I actually just got a 2015, 15 inch strictly for music production, along with decent quality youtube vids. It's got SSD, 16 GB, and 1 TB. Is your interface usb c?
Great specs and good deal! We both use the Scarlett Focusrite 2i2 with regular USB-A, but could definitely look into swapping that out for USB-C cables in the future.
@@QuackingPancakes Thanks. I have the Focusrite 18i20 3rd gen. I'm hopeful I have no issues running the usbc to the usb a port? I guess I'll find out, and let you know.
I have gotten a broken one from my mum's workplace to fix it it would cost 130 bucks including the cost of a charger so I think I will go for it however I am a little concerned on software support, any clue when apple will drop support?
As of now the 2015 model still has support for most apps and macOS Monterey, but we're not sure if it'll still have support in the next few years. Either way it's a good value laptop that you should be able to download compatible versions of whatever you're looking to use.
hey i have a simple qst between the macbook pro 2015 and the air 2017 which one would last me longer like 4-5years ?? I MAINLY use laptop for studying watching videos and movies nothing dramatic
Thanks for your question! Without a doubt we'd recommend the 2015 Pro, which we're still using for some of our lighter studio work today. The 2017 Air is the last model of that older generation with the gray screen bezels and does not feature a retina screen, so that'd be a huge bummer for watching anything. If you can find a 2015 Pro online for $300-500 depending on the specs/storage, we'd say go for it, but if you're going to spend over that range, we'd recommend just saving a little bit more for the M1 Macbook Air. Hope that helps!
@@QuackingPancakes thank u so much for ur answer and indeed i am not willing to spend more than 500 dollars cause my budget is a bit limited so i guess i ll go for the pro 2015
I actually own both, i go back and forth about which one I like better but the portability with the air is just so nice, you don't even notice it in a backpack. But the retina display is nice on the pro. Depends what's important to you.
@@_manny and do u think that owning a 2015 macbook pro in mid 2022 is a good idea knowing that i am not willing to upgrade so i am gonna keep it for like 5years or more ??? Wouldn't it be old ?? Or should i get a 2017/2018 macbook pro ??
@@sarabel6015 same question i also want to buy mac but I dont know which one I buy, which one should I buy if I buy 2015 mac how many years I can use it.
It still holds up pretty well for photo editing but can be a tad bit slow for video editing. Our podcast uses 3-4 different hour long audio tracks and 3 different camera angles so editing wasn't that fun but it always got the job done.
Is this laptop worth it now In 2023? Which one do you think is better value from below. Windows 14 inch Ryzen 5 5500u 16 GB, 512 GB SSD Or MacBook 2015 8 GB 256GB SSD Which Processor is best ? I am getting both for same price $ 500
If you can get it for a good price and condition, and only plan to use it for web browsing and occasionally light video/photo editing, then it is 100% worth it. I picked this one up for $340, coming from an old shitty HP laptop made out of plastic. The build quality, keyboard, beautiful screen, newest Mac OS, performance etc is simply just so much better than the junk I came from. Didn't break my bank either. I got lucky, and secured one with a battery cycle of only 44, so it was barely used and had originally been purchased new in 2017. Mine came with the staingate issue, but after rubbing the screen with Listerine for 20 min (im not kidding, just google it), this problem was entirely fixed and now looks brand new
@@QuackingPancakes @Sara Bel same question i also want to buy mac but I dont know which one I buy, which one should I buy if I buy 2015 mac how many years I can use it. I contacted the shop and they are giving me in 650$. i7 16 ram 256 SSD is it good?
@@shakeelali9418 the 2015 is a great value, but it's probably nearing the end for future macOS support. That being said, people do still use MBPs from 2009 with no issue as long as performance is kept to a minimum. For $650, we'd probably advise you to decline, especially for only 256 GB of storage. For ~$200 more you can get yourself an M1 MacBook Air, which we personally think is superior in every way besides ports.

Sounds like it'd be perfect for you then!

you can patch it with opencore when it loses support i did it recently with my 2014 macbook!

It’s always 5 o’clock in the studio 😎🍻
