I have the V2 and can confirm it sounds good with everything top to bottom. In general class A amps really seem to hit a stride. But other than that, from a schiit stack to a burson conductor. All great.

great video. I get this question often at work. Diana v2 is my daily driver.

The interesting thing is that v2 has almost the same or better resolution and transparent sound than meze elite or hifiman susvara.

Our higher models go well beyond given a properly mated system.

I'm surprised you say that "you're not going to use a $1,000 amplifier with the Diana TC". I'm of the opinion that even a system like the Topping D90 DAC and A90 Amp will sound excellent on any high end headphone, so long as the headphone is capable and has good tuning. Do you guys all really think that you have to spend several thousand dollars on an amp to get a good sound on the TC or other high-end headphones? I'm very curious about that because the most expensive amp I have is the GS-X Mini but frankly my Topping A90 is more neutral and measures better than it. Granted I don't have any super high-end gear but frankly, I just don't see the need these days as from my experience even less expensive gear can deliver totally clean signals. I make most of my own high-end cables with nice occ copper and silver cable geometries and usually furutech connectors. Though I do otherwise buy some cables for my 2ch stuff or other USB/IEC cables from either Blue Jeans Cable or another retailer usually using Canare or something similar and my source is a Mac mini, my PC, or sometimes my MacBook.
I'm between the Diana TC and the V2. I want the TC but cost is a factor so I'm potentially leaning towards the V2. But I do like switching out gear and tinkering I just don't typically spend more than 1-3k on a DAC and Amp as I haven't found that anything actually outperforms my D90 and A90 as far as detail and neutrality. Some of the higher end setups I've heard tend to actually color the sound a bit which can sound excellent, especially with a high-end tube amp but I don't seem to get anymore detail or neutrality.
I do also produce music as a hobby, am a major tinkerer, especially with electronics and I work in the PCB design industry. Given those details which headphone do you think would fit me best?

I think the Dad was the one that suggested you're not going to use a 1K amp, if I remember correctly at least one of the sons drives the Diana TC with the GS-X Mini on his home setup. You have to look at the old guy's background, he used to sell high-end speaker systems back in the day to rich customers and I don't think he knows just how good more affordable setups are getting. He mentioned the dCS Bartok, which is a very expensive DAC, but one that's been surpassed sonically by much cheaper offerings.
No hate towards him, older people are just more likely to stick to what they know, and saying 1K amps aren't up to par was probably true for most of his career.

If you produce music as a hobby you might want to check out the new Audeze MM-500, they are going for a much more studio-neutral tuning where as Abyss headphones definitely have a sound all to their own.

Diana TC is very low distortion and a fairly flat FR, it will tell you what’s going on in the mix. Just have to tweak the system for the sounds you like to listen to.

I have both the Diana Phi and AB1266 TC Phi. The Diana Phi is MUCH MORE sensitive to my signal chain than the AB1266. I will say the Super Conducting cable on the AB1266... warmth plus detail in a way I can describe. Regardless, huge fan of my headphones!
And yes... I told myself AB1266 was something I told myself I would never get.

I’m planning on buying either the v2 or Diana tc. I generally use a woo audio wa8 on my desk while I work from home. Could this work for the tc or am I better off with the v2?

If you are aware of Ifi desktop amp/dacs….. would they lend too wooden/warm a tonality to Diana TC or AB 1266? Which I don’t prefer but already own Ifi Pro iDSD signature.
What kind of tonality do K Dac & Broadway have? I prefer crisp & grungy metallic but refined at the same time.

That amp will be fine with Diana TC, sound will depend on the DAC. If the overall system is bass light, that will be what TC will sound like.
