Im so glad Ray Wylie is getting the recognition.Better late than never. Im been a fan since 1974 .I was a kid in Dallas .grew up with Dallas radio and the progressive country. Now im getting old in my home town OKC .
So I met Ray about 2 yrs ago....One of the nicest people i've ever met. I told him i was a metal head and wasn't that much into country...I mean i love Hank and Willie and Cash...maybe a few others anyways when i told Ray i was a metal head he looked at me and said i've met Dimebag...you know he played with Pantera...I about died laughing. His show was amazing and he has a beautiful soul....felt like i was meeting an old friend.
Hey Ray, long time no see from the Adamson days, I saw you backstage in about 78 at Billy Bobs, with our mutual friend Larry Warrell; I know he is looking down from heaven so proud of you. Always a big fan!
I don’t think there are any comparisons to be made with RWH and that’s amazing in itself, but I put him in the rare company of John Prine, JD, and Bob Dillon when it comes to expressing raw unfiltered honesty. He had me the first time I heard “Snake Farm” though.
Not looking for women wearing crosses or looking for God . Not sure if i'm looking for Ray Wylie Hubbard either ? But i'll checkout more of his Music to find out .
Can't listen to enough Ray Wylie Hubbard these days.
Ray is a very underrated songwriter. You can tell he has been influenced by some of the great poets. An American treasure.
He's one of the best lyricists and storytellers I've ever heard.
RWH should be a regular at the Opry. His music is as pure as it comes.
Just a great all round performer in every sense.
He has given a lot.
