More of a remaster than a remake cause it's basically the same game in a different engine with gameplay tweaks but yeah they kept the amazing music thankfully

There can be only one Ryoma in history. This entire fight is one of the best things RGGS made. Both brothers fighting while having the same idea to change society for better but disagreeing with the way each one choose. They can't talk anymore, it will never be the same. Ryoma let his brother alone and did all things his father wanted and even more in his own way, Hanpeita tried to change with brutal force, strategic and didn't care about himself while doing that. Both did something that was very selfish and hurt each other. Both are Sakamoto Ryoma. But only one can be the historical Sakamoto Ryoma and be the bodhisattva in question. The fight for ideals that the entire franchise does in his peak. And is fun how in the remaster they decided to let the fight even be sad now, they still keep the raw of the moment but now Hanpeita and Ryoma fighting is a tragedy (just see how the retire the little smile Hanpeita does). It's kino, Ishin is just so good.

With the first phase being based on For Faith, the 2nd phase with the screaming guitar being based on Fly, and the 3rd phase with the piano being A Scattered Moment from Yakuza 2. Effectively, as you go through each phase of this boss you're going back in time through each mainline Yakuza boss. The only reason For Who's Sake is excluded is because that track gets repped elsewhere in Ishin.
I love how, compared to other final boss themes like For Faith, Two Dragons, Unwavering Belief etc. the climax of the song isnt a big intense increase in tempo or just making the song go crazy, it goes from being hype as hell to slow and melanchonic as Ryoma and Takechi slowly finish their duel. It really makes for great atmosphere and is partly why its one of my favourite songs in videogaming at the moment. In general this games story is fucking brilliant, it was emotional as hell and had me tearing up more than I expected, along with having great characters (some which I ended up liking more than their mainline Yakuza counterparts, Hijikata and Okita specifically) and the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. Top 3 in the series for sure.

I’ve played most yakuza games excluding dead souls, kurohyou, kenzan and fist of the North Star lost paradise and man I gotta say this final boss theme is just on an entirely different plane of existence. Arguably the best piece of composed music I’ve heard in my 25 years of living. So emotional and beautiful, can’t believe this predates a lot of the newer entries and remakes but triumphs all of their songs in my opinion
So I dug into this a bit, and I'm sure no one actually cares, but the title seems to be a really clever wordplay (in my opinion). 暗殺 (Ansatsu) means assassination and 菩薩 (Bosatsu) means bodhisattva, but the name they gave this song is 菩殺 (Bosatsu). The first kanji is the one from bodhisattva but the second kanji is the same as in assassination. The pronunciation stays the same, but the meaning is altered, since "殺/satsu" means murder (instead of 薩/satsu, which is salvation/Buddha), hence the translation. I think the title is way cooler in Japanese.
People are saying “thank god this wasn’t a Two Dragons remix in the remake”, but little do they realise that Two Dragons is itself kind of a remix of this theme!
I think it may be because both songs are similar with how they have three segments that play for each of the three phases for both Takechi and Shibusawa.

@@xandymasamune bruh, gameplay is the same and the trooper cards ,same for the number attack thingy, are completely optional to use, and the bosses have special moves to counter those that use the cards

The troop cards are not simply optional due to the awful balance changes that were made to accommodate them; just unequipping them does nothing to make it play like the original game. And it doesn't matter if you have no cards equipped, bosses will use those magic attacks either way.
I can't wait to hear this in Ishin Kiwami. I wonder if they'll remix or change it at all, since Shibusawa is taking the role of Takechi. Either way tbh I have faith that it'll be a banger whether it's changed or not.
From what was seen in the pre-release game footage, the OST sounds pretty much identical to the original, with Four Unrestful Flowers and Innocence for Violence being perfectly intact. So I have faith this song will be exactly the same come the final release. Especially since RGG themselves said outright the hardest thing about making Yakuza Kiwami was the music.

The previews that IGN showed off had the main battle theme (Four Unrestful Flowers) and Izo's theme (Innocence for Violence) exactly the same as the original. Maybe it might be a little bit sharper on the hearing side of things, but nothing as drastic as the remixes from YK1 and YK2.
Man i cant wait to hear this when ishin comes out soon. My only hope is that they don't remix it, like they did with some of the kiwami osts, because this is already perfect as is

I know some people are upset that Shibusawa is the new antagonist and the original VA was replaced, but personally I am so happy to have Shibusawa as the main antagonist again. Having him as "Kiryu's" Kyodai is just a really cool what if to me
Majima to Nishitani: "Is like yer uncle said, have we met better, we could'a been good pals" I know that it kinda foreshadows what's going to happen (and let's be honest... in the original, Hanpeita is pretty sus too, moreso given the fact that they're historical characters and we know what happened), but since in Ishin not every character model is tied to his original role in the mainline, seeing the models of Kiryu and Shibusawa bonding was actually that impossible "what if" given a chance. A pretty wholesome scenario. Yet, they face the same bitter fate. He was the opposite coin of Kiryu in 0, and having them start as brothers walking the same path to the very same conclusion is even more heartbreaking. No matter which life they live in, these two are cursed to destroy each other. I know it's kinda fanservice and controversial, but I think Hideo Nakano truly did Hanpeita justice. It wasn't as sad as losing Nishiki, but damn did it hurt.

But I think the reason they replacing not just cause of fan base or something but most likely couldn't get the actor to return or not allowed to use likeness. I don't think they would be allowed to keep the original actor's voice lines or have someone else speak over the model.

Apparently this song goes through 3 phases based on previous Yakuza games, so I think you're right. The first phase being based on For Faith, the 2nd phase with the screaming guitar being based on Fly, and the 3rd phase with the piano being A Scattered Moment from Yakuza 2. Effectively, as you go through each phase of this boss you're going back in time through each mainline Yakuza boss. The only reason For Who's Sake is excluded is because that track gets repped elsewhere in Ishin.

I didn't really care for Ishin much, not that I regret buying or playing it necessarily, but goddamn does the final boss fight go hard
I know some people are upset that Shibusawa is the new antagonist and the original VA was replaced, but personally I am so happy to have Shibusawa as the main antagonist again. Having him as "Kiryu's" Kyodai is just a really cool what if to me

I know that it kinda foreshadows what's going to happen (and let's be honest... in the original, Hanpeita is pretty sus too, moreso given the fact that they're historical characters and we know what happened), but since in Ishin not every character model is tied to his original role in the mainline, seeing the models of Kiryu and Shibusawa bonding was actually that impossible "what if" given a chance. A pretty wholesome scenario. Yet, they face the same bitter fate. He was the opposite coin of Kiryu in 0, and having them start as brothers walking the same path to the very same conclusion is even more heartbreaking. No matter which life they live in, these two are cursed to destroy each other. I know it's kinda fanservice and controversial, but I think Hideo Nakano truly did Hanpeita justice. It wasn't as sad as losing Nishiki, but damn did it hurt.
Honestly it kinda makes sense having "Shibusawa" as the final boss, as both Ishin and 0 are "origin" stories

But I think the reason they replacing not just cause of fan base or something but most likely couldn't get the actor to return or not allowed to use likeness. I don't think they would be allowed to keep the original actor's voice lines or have someone else speak over the model.
