Aston Martin did a perfect job with V8 vantage...as it was out of the box.. if you mess with it, you lose what it originally was. Drive a totally stock one and you will love it. It’s so funny! Sam says ‘I hate it’. And the whole time he’s barely able to keep back a huge smile. The look in his eyes when gassing that thing done his driveway… priceless.
Sam saying he 'hates' the Aston is a meme. From the day he bought it he's been subtly trolling by calling it 'basically a Volvo' and saying it's ugly. It's literally just trolling though. Mine is in better shape than Sam's obviously, but he definitely knows how good it is. It's impossible to drive one and not know.
Simple. Put a stock exhaust back on it and remove the tune then it would sound awesome and if that's all you hated about it then you could easily change your mind. You liked Freddie's one albeit his is a v12.
When Sam disses an Aston and gets so excited by an electric scooter, I really begin to question his sanity! Is this the evolution of Florida-man??? And given the type of rescuing that Sam does, why didn't he rescue the Aston from its current state instead of just slagging it off as a "bad car"??
That's not how a V8 Vantage sounds. If someone was dumb enough to put air suspension on and those gawd awful gold wheels, its pretty clear they have hacked with the exhaust. Either you knew that and were just wanting to make distraction that its just YOUR car that sounds like that or you really don't know too much about this car. If it was the original exhaust, it definitely has fuse 22 removed, but that sounds like it has the cats removed (maybe why you have an emission light on) or its some really awful aftermarket bodge up. On the positive side, you do make some good points on sensible alternate parts and the scam that is Aston Martin branded parts. Most of us who have owned AM's for a long time know pretty much all the cross references, but I really did like the piece on the alternate clutch. Great to know people are still out there doing this. Try driving a later 4.7 and give a comparison, its a very different experience to the older 4.3. BTW, its not a Land Rover engine or even slightly related to one, but I think you just said that for effect not fact.

Great vid Sam! Here's my two cents: As for the 612 - If I lived closer, I'd come help with that clutch job! Drop in OE Valeo clutch, flywheel and F1 sensor and that thing will scream! No killing that engine or tranny. Both are bulletproof. The rebuilt clutches are fine but with the front engine/piston accumulator setups, they just have a hell of a break in cycle and the clutch parameters in the NCR need too many adjustments to get them to work right. Also you mentioned gearbox fluid in the actuator - I think you meant F1 fluid. The gearbox fluid never sees that actuator. Make sure you use Pentosin CHF-11S in the F1 system and the proper gearbox fluid in the gearbox. Also, don't be quick to diagnose the actuator - those don't wear out unless something else goes wrong. I'd test the bleed rates on the EV solenoids and run a grid pattern on a true SD3 to test the accuracy of the actuator. As for the 360, the alternators are rebuildable for about $200 with commercially available parts. I WARN YOU though, the actual Denso parts are no longer available so the rebuilders are sourcing Chinese parts. Even their suppliers won't tell them where they come from. I rebuilt a few and they only lasted about 5K miles. I replaced with the OEM and it lasted the rest of the life of the car.

Never give a original component like an alternator as a core for a rebuilt one. The rebuilt alternators are not the same quality as the original. I would try to rebuild. The one part I would not replace is the voltage regulator cause replacements are never as good as the original.

Hey there Sam. Love the videos man. It is like a DIY shade tree do it all channel. Walz’s rebuilt auto parts in Salem Oregon is really the be all end all when it comes to alternators. Utterly brilliant bike for the city! How long does it take to charge the battery from discharged to charged? I have also now learned how to sell my cars, just diss them for 5 minutes before you say how much you want for it! Then just to top it off, go for a fang and the noise will put any prospective buyer of this class of car off it entirely. That is not the standard exhaust for sure.
Too funny. The last thing I want is someone buying one of my cars and then complaining that it's not perfect; but also I really don't want to sell them at the same time so it helps! As far as charging the battery goes, I never had it completely depleted, but it takes about 8-12 hours according to the manual (they don't recommend you bring it all the way down to 0%_
I'm shocked for once. I actually agree with you Sam. I cannot stand that all these new cars have to be obnoxiously loud to the point that it actually hurts people's hearing
Sam, I think you have done some great work, but I literally cannot understand what your problem is. That sound is glorious, and if it is a little loud, there are things you can do easily to mitigate that. To write off a car for that one reason, I have to question if you are a car guy...I'm sorry Sam.
I use Ace Armature Company in providence RI, they rebuild alternators, starters, even rewound electric motors for me. One time i brought in a burnt up Italian brushless motor for a boat anchor windlass, i told them it was Italian and brushless, and the owner told me " if it's electric and spins we can fix it."
My exhaust is too loud , here let me show you while I drive it back and forth in my drive way for 20 mins with a smile that looks like I just found where my step mom hid all the Christmas presents.
But the Aston looks like an angel popped down from heaven and desgined a car while the Vette looks like someone got hold of a crayon while they were huffing glue.
I'm with you Sam. I don't get the appeal with a loud exhaust. I'm counting down the days when I can afford an all electric car that's not a Nissan Leaf and actually has some style.
Asking retail prices for cars that you can't even get all the check engine lights to go off....you really just like to say you own this and this.....but still love to watch you try sam .....
Take a spot of land and put down a concrete pad on it Sam, place some Bendpak lifts maybe 1 or 2 on there, and build a steel carport over the whole thing, with option for adding walls later if you decide to. Then you will have a good solid place to work on cars and store them rather than a cow field.
There's a fuse on the Aston not sure which one but if you take it out it keeps the exhaust bypass open all the time, check it out, if it is missing put it back in and it will keep it quiet.
This makes sense on how you make money on this channel with your hobby of fixing cars. I don't understand Rich Rebuilds on how he buys all these cars and doesn't sell the ones he fixes. I swear one day I will buy a samcrac car. I just have to win the lottery. lol

Get a really good full face helmet, and properly follow the fitting guide at purchase, making sure it is very snug, and also, make sure it is always done up properly.
I have some horror stories I could relate to you, where people made the wrong choice of helmet. Please don't be one of those people.
Please!
Crashing at 30mph is the same impact as driving off the top of a 3 story building.
Seriously need to put up a good sized building/shop on the property to park and work on all of the builds... 💯🎯
yeah he needs a big pole barn with a lift asap
$4 per gallon? Converted the current UK average of £1.475 per litre which equates to $7.43 per gallon (using current 1.33 exchange rate) that we pay on average... So don't complain too much (although I appreciate it's all relative). Damn OPEC
As much as I love all those cars, I'm an Aussie in a RHD market and that Soarer would suit my need for something nostalgic.
Thanks for all of your videos Sam. I’d buy the Audi s4. I’ve driven Audis since 2000 and have always loved the s models.
Ps: you do a great job meshing the ads into the videos. My favorite was when your friend got pulled over after driving your car a few miles and you made it about his grooming. Hilarious.
If I could afford to pick it up and send it my way I would take that B8 S4. The whole collection is a blast to see though
same great price
Wtf? You and someone else has the exact same comment...weird
Happy Hanukkah Sam. You are THE universal mechanic but I firmly believe you missed your calling as a comedian. Balls out funny.
You are blessed. Peace!
Definitely rebuild the alternator. I've been doing that for years. It's a money saver for sure.
That Aston may have a 'ticket me first' exhaust, but it definitely wins in looks over the purple Lambo, IMO.
That purple doesn't do it for me .. at all .. ah well, no worries, back to my crusty old Impala .. heh heh
Return the shifter cables to Aston. That said your expression whilst driving the Aston doesn't quite fit with "this is terrible" :-)! See David Blalock's comment below - might be a simple fix to stop the noisy exhaust.
Great video on the M6 Sam. Nice bit of troubleshooting. Used to troubleshoot computers with a tektronix 535 Oscilloscope, it was as big at the seat on that beemer!
Man now I’m looking at BMW hybrid lease returns. When the vehicle market calms down a bit (hopefully) I might consider picking one up. Thanks for the tip.
Don't buy german electrics. People lease them because they don't want to deal with the inevitable issues in the long term.
"All original even the wheels and tires which is pretty rare." "What would we do to this Toyota ?"he's asked. "I don't know, make it run and change the wheels and tires."
Sam, I've got a late model vvti 1JZ Soarer here in Australia. I needn't tell you how well the JZ platform responds to mods, especially bigger turbo/s. You could modify it to make it a very quick car without much effort.
I had 2 of these back in the early 00's, great cars. I don't think he likes Coupes very much though as he basically hates on all his coupes here. Interesting to hear they are growing in value as when I sold my second one I only got something like $3000NZD for it (the first one got written off) I think he should keep it stock, as I haven't seen one of these in many years that hasn't been butchered with boy racer mods.
@ 18:58 I almost fell over laughing when u did the yes indeed dub. Bro honestly we need a full video of that it was catchy as hell😂
Rebuilding an alternator is definitely possible. I have a guy locally I use frequently for that
I rebuilt an alternator and a starter in high school auto shop. Definetily possible...if you can source the parts.
There is a shop I pass everyday that rebuilds alternators. He does a lot of classic car rebuilds using the factory date coded case.
18:47 funny to hear sam complain about the exhaust being too loud when he almost always puts a loud exhaust on all his cars lol
I put valved exhausts on my cars! Quiet when you want them, loud when you want them. This is more of a problem because of the tune more than the exhaust (and the lack of cats is a problem too)
@@Samcrac haha I realize that, I was just bustin your balls.
I was big into boating and knew a couple of a holes who had scarabs and fountain go fast boats. half a million for a boat and they couldn't pay for silent select? (where the exhaust can be diverted below the water line so you don't wake up the whole marina).
But that Aston exhaust system can't be stock right? Around 20:00 aah exactly. Time to reset it?
Sounds like an aftermarket straight pipe. Not a hard problem to fix.
There's a dude over here in the UK runs a channel called It's Joel. He bought an old BMW 760 V12 for cheap (like super cheap - I think it was about £3000 or something silly) and put straight pipes on it for a laugh. It was stupidly loud and sounded like some kind of exotic racer. Funny for about 5 minutes but soon became irritating, although he didn't think so.
@@stevepettifer4896 yea it can get a bit much. Good for laugh but not great if you are looking to GT a car like that.
@@jamesbrant9598 100%. It would definitely get on my nerves very fast!
@@stevepettifer4896 Yes 100% not stock. Probably cats removed (hence emissions light being on), maybe straight through and fuse 22 removed. I own a 4.7, most certainly does NOT sound like that. Plus this car a hack up to start with.
I'd take the Jag or the S4 hands down, such amazing daily drivers...also the only ones I could reasonably affor. If I had the money though I would take that Aston off you and make it right. Still love them even if that one has the automotive equivalent of tourettes syndrome.
Is leaving the auction paint marker writings on the windshield and windows of the M6 your version of the kids that leave the price tags and stickers on their sports caps?
Also: is the handlebar on that electric motorcycle as flimsy as it looks? It looks like you could snap it like a twig.
Minnie Pearl 😉
Listening complains about gas prices in the USA...meanwhile paying 4 times more in my country 🤔
That car sounds awesome! Sounds kinda like an old muscle car. You could always put different mufflers on it.
this car has no mufflers...
@@smokeshaq i thought it had glass packs but i dont remember and im not about to watch the vid again to be sure. The point was he could change the exhaust and it wouldnt cost much to put some generic 3 chamber mufflers on it and quiet it down.
The 360 alternator casing is similar in shape to Komatsu and some other varied denso applications I wonder if they have used it for other automotive application just changing the part number...
I love Aston-Martin cars. I've ridden in a few. I can't afford any of them and I wish I could, but I can't afford anything right now.
You can afford the internet...and that's all that matters
Is that the blinker fluid on the handle bars of the scooter?
Thanks for the update Sam. I think I speak for everybody when I say you are an honest, hardworking ‘tuber!
Sam: "Motorcycle"
Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
Sam buy a damn lift instead of electric mopeds!!!
Absolutely correct about the Aston's vulgar sound, and I commend you for your honesty in saying what you don't like in the Aston.
I like how the Aston sounds and it looks like it pulls
My wife and I have 4 Daymak EBikes. Not as fast as yours but about half the price. Great for booting around town when there isn’t snow on the ground
Hey there Sam. Love the videos man. It is like a DIY shade tree do it all channel. Walz’s rebuilt auto parts in Salem Oregon is really the be all end all when it comes to alternators. They can even do custom winding to get higher amperage. I have personally used them 4 times to rebuild alternators. Very reasonably priced and worth the look. Keep up the great work bud. Take care.
Sam, I’m 77 years old and I think that Aston sounds wicked. I love it but I would never own it. I’ll stick to American iron.
As far as charging the battery goes, I never had it completely depleted, but it takes about 8-12 hours according to the manual (they don't recommend you bring it all the way down to 0%_
Sam, your Christmas gift to me would be some decent wheels on that BMW X6. Thanks in advance. 🎅🏻
Sam - I absolutely love that AM engine sound and just imagine it on the narrow cobbled streets that we have in old England !
I'm shocked for once. I actually agree with you Sam. I cannot stand that all these new cars have to be obnoxiously loud to the point that it actually hurts people's hearing
#1 rule, check new parts against old parts to see if they are EXACTLY the same for cars like this.
lol I love how the B8 S4 is your most fuel efficient car you have... it does like 20mpg on a good day haha
17:56 why don’t you fix that old roller. You can do a “it’s been sitting for 20 years! Can we fix it?” Type of video.
If you get it running you can reenact that scene from Austin powers.
@@FishFind3000 NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
07:40 “feels stable” while mirror is flying around hahahahaga
Sam, I think you have done some great work, but I literally cannot understand what your problem is. That sound is glorious, and if it is a little loud, there are things you can do easily to mitigate that. To write off a car for that one reason, I have to question if you are a car guy...I'm sorry Sam.
You might have answered this before but how much do you pay for insurance? Is it like a dealers insurance and cheap since it is auction/salvaged cars?
Lol you know a cars pretty bad when the owner highlights how well it goes into reverse.
Hahaha
I use Ace Armature Company in providence RI, they rebuild alternators, starters, even rewound electric motors for me. One time i brought in a burnt up Italian brushless motor for a boat anchor windlass, i told them it was Italian and brushless, and the owner told me " if it's electric and spins we can fix it."
We need Uncle rich commenting on that electric bike!
why would i pay 4000$ for that lil koppla when i could buy a real motorcyle for around 2k
Dear Mr Samcrac & Team !! Superb Vlog !! .....Bless
The Aston Martin sounds like a track car, it would attract a lot of attention on the street 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘🦘
I'd buy it. Sounds amazing!!!
Energetic and high energy video. Thanks.
I do want to know why Sam won't park all the cars , you know, into one spot instead of having it scattered around. 😂😂
That's so he can get to A car with the rooster around.
@@ng-ht1vx loll 😂😂
This makes sense on how you make money on this channel with your hobby of fixing cars. I don't understand Rich Rebuilds on how he buys all these cars and doesn't sell the ones he fixes. I swear one day I will buy a samcrac car. I just have to win the lottery. lol
