One thing I will say is that I miss the simplicity of the social menu. We have a million interactions in Sims 4 but they all kind of do the same thing? I mean, different moodlets and impacts on relationship status yes, but you can probably get the same results with the Sims 1 menu as well.
I miss one-sided/uneven relationship dynamics so much 😮💨 it made for deeper/funnier storylines. And this silly little video made me laugh more than TS4 has in years.
Hey you can have same sex relationship and romantic interactions in the Sims 1. The reason it didn't work here is because you went straight for the hot tub which gave you special interactions but once you got out of the hot tub you had to do a lot of friendly interactions before romance shows up. The only thing was same sex marriage was not available but they could be "joined"

It's so odd to me that they got rid of the environment/room score later on. The core of the game is to make money and buy things so your sims are happy. Even if you choose to make your sims miserable, it's within the context of going against the "desired" outcome.
Hot date and superstar were the only 2 expansions I ever had for sims 1 and they were more than enough for YEARS of gaming. Hot date’s dinner dates were so fun and worked so well I literally used to just take my sim out to fill their hunger need instead of cooking!! Sims 4 could never
The Sims Vacation was really good as well. The different locations to go on vacations STILL has the most gameplay from any of the other Sims that had vacation packs.

The problem with deleting them to resolve the needs is that then their social need is full and they don't want to do social interactions as they don't have a "need" to do them.

If you buy the turkey - all the neighbours, come to your house, so if you need friends for a promotion at work, buy a turkey invite them all in and when you carve it, they all applaud, and you can build relationships while eating it.

I loved the room score! Early on TS1 even had a whole rating tab for what your sims thought about the house layout, decorations etc. They actually cared about the life-simulation and decorating aspects as part of the gameplay rather than a lifeless sandbox...
I've also picked up TS1 again recently. It truly is a timeless game. 😂 They need to release this on mobile at the very least. My favourite thing about HD was that you had different flirt options if you took a date to the bar, and they were A LOT.
I forget exactly how, but there was a symbol you could put at the end of the Rosebud cheat and the cheat window would stay up with your text. So you could just keep pressing enter to add money instead of re-writing the cheat over and over. I think I would copy & paste the “;:” until I couldn’t paste anymore, and then I think I made the last character “]”. Then I would just set some sort of weight on my enter key, and then go do something else until I reached maximum funds 😅
i always liked the "environment need". it's a realistic want to fill your house with things you find appealing and not leave it empty and barren. yes you can have romantic interactions with same sex sims but they need to be compatible. it's not like in Sims 4 where you can bone anyone you like. personality, however simplistic it used to be, played a major role in which sim actually accepted your advances for romance and sexual attraction. even Sims 1 had more character and depth than Sims 4 will ever have. you should've made a sim that matches one of your two sims so it's easier to get them to romance stage. also it's a bit hard to keep anyone in any kind of water if their hygiene is completely full and they're not into each other as much. also also you should've turned off their autonomy if you wanted more control, though i guess that was the whole point of how chaotic Sims 1 could get, which is why we love the game to this day.
I think the sims and sims 2 both where very needy for light so u would pretty much fill all ur rooms with as much as lightbulbs as they needed to feel good in their house.

I refused to buy Hot Date because I didn't think it was appropriate for family play. My kids played a little, but eventually lost interest, and I bought every expansion pack that was available. OMG you knew! Hot date has a soft place in my heart. My sim had so much simulated sex with Danilo, my andro crush in hs. Gawd he baked me a cake, but statistics class pressured me so much to eat the cake he baked for me so I had to share it with the whole statistics class. I fantasized about eating it with just him (saved it and carried it around all day, waiting to seeing him after school). Sadly highschool is the worst place for a gay boy to find love, which is why I only date older and daddies now. But damn I loved the smell of his sweater even though there was a heavy note of sweat and 2 am nightmare cold sweat. Lets just say thank god the sims 1 exchange closed down or you would need an adult to see the lots I uploaded.
i almost never played the sims 1, remember my friend had it and we played together on her computer but later on she installed sims 2 and I've never seen sims 1 anymore, i should definitely play it now 😂
