It was kinda dumb of Midorya to answer but remember:
He’s the king of yapping. He’s a very verbal processor, constantly mutters and talks to himself. I don’t think he’s physically capable of not responding.

That and he cares a lot about people, it's why he wants to be a hero after all, so hearing Shinso badmouth Ojiro like that, when Ojiro made his decision based on his own moral judgement, that triggered Deku's instinct to stand up for his classmate. Deku also takes on the pressure of the people who support him, and Ojiro just put the "win for me too" burden on Deku, making him extra sensitive to Shinso dissing him. It's like when Bakugo was caught by the sludge villain, Deku acted without thinking, only it was his mouth not his feet that ran away from him.
Once he gained control over himself, Deku was able to resist Shinso's questions, because he started asking him how he did that, what that power was, how Deku was gifted, blessed, and couldn't understand Shinso's feelings - all answers Deku has a lot more practice keeping quiet, because they relate to One for All. While he's not great at not answering in a way a shrewd listener can't pick up on the subtext (like Todoroki picking up on "it's not like that" meaning there is AN answer to Deku's connection with All Might), Deku at least knows not to answer with the truth.
Please never loosen up on the Mineta hate. It is always valid and deserved 🙂👍

Shinso would be the ultimate support hero. It wouldn't matter who he teams up with if he can instantly get a villain to sit down and be quiet

i really like that bit with bakugou overhearing midoriya and todoroki as a character moment. even someone like him -- impulsive and rude -- knows not to jump in the middle of todoroki talking about his abusive father and his mother pouring boiling water over his face. would definitely be the wrong time to make a declaration of war!
as an aside, no need to apologize for the mineta hate. it is just and righteous.

Shinso is such a good example of why the entrance exam was biased towards power based quirks. If you think about it Aizawa would probably have a hard time passing it as well. Poor Deku got overcome with emotions. It was harder for him to hear his friend insulted than it was to be insulted himself.
Todoroki is such an amazing character. (I am biased he is my favorite) His back story is so sad and intriguing. It also shows just how much emotions can power up your quirk. That huge ice wall was so OP. I do feel bad for Sero, he has a good quirk which he controls well, and might have won some battles if not for being matched with Shoto so early on.
Mineta is such a creep, he goes way beyond normal teen boy levels of ick. Kaminari is a little girl crazy but no where near Mineta levels. It always makes me sad when he gets paired up with the little creep.
I loved Shinso so much, I hope I get too see more of his character later on!
I think that's why Aizawa understands how biased the test was against someone like Shinso. They both have quirks that are only effective against other people but useless against robots like the ones used in the test. The person I most scratch my head over being in Class A is Hagakure, because her quirk is better for stealth, and again depends on other people seeing her - or not, in her case. I doubt her quirk confuses a machine, unless that machine relies solely on visual input to determine its actions (as opposed to non-visual sensors, such as heat, sound, etc). How she managed to amass enough points to pass the test is beyond me.
@@Persewna4 exactly. But some people speculate bcuz she is fully invisible, so the robot unable to detect her as a target. Hence, she able to sneakily turn off all the suis on the robot and got point from it. I think that the most logical explanation on how she able to pass the practical examination.

lots of people make fun of me for it but ojiro is my fav side character (even official art of him is my pfp). these episodes made me have a lot of respect for him. he himself had no idea what was going on but he still went out of his way to warn midoriya about everything he knew about shinso. i felt so bad when midoriya completely forgot about ojiros words and answered shinso
SHINSO MY BOY!!!! his backstory is my favorite thing because when you think about it, his quirk is one of the most suited for (especially underground, like aizawa) hero work - being able to stop fights before they even start, easy dissolving of hostage situations, etc. - but everyone only thinks of the selfish ways he could use it. but he wants to be a hero anyway, and prove them all wrong. sometimes i wish izuku stayed quirkless instead of getting the op quirk, i think it would be so interesting to see that story, but at least we get a taste of it with shinso.
the thing about izuku is that he has such a big heart. it’s part of why he’ll be a great hero, but it’s also why he got caught in shinso’s quirk - he just can’t help defending the people he cares about. same for after the match, he doesn’t think badly of shinso, even after he almost lost to him, would’ve lost if he had _any_ other quirk. he doesn’t see any reason to mistrust him, so he answers when shinso talks to him and, ofc, gets caught again
(p.s. even though shinsou didn’t win, this isn’t the last episode he’ll be in!)

7:29 such a good question. something only mentioned again at the end of season 4... I completely missed the idea that he specifically chose ice instead of anything else. I just took it as "because fire and ice together is cool." ahaha you always keep asking the right questions! the curiousity is great, shows how invested you are! please continue to enjoy the show!

43:00 fair but i think its actually confirmed that's what he did to pass. every character has a description personally written by the creator and he got lots of people sending him letters asking "how tf did mineta get in??" and he confirmed that mineta immobilized the robots
(also even if he couldn’t destroy any robots, the rescue points exist. He could’ve just rescued a bunch of women he found attractive)
The show does a great job at making you hate Endeavor soon as you learn about him. His journey is a crazy one throughout the show
Shinso is one of my favorite characters, he has been told repeatedly that he would make an awesome villain, but he wants to be a hero 😢, it just makes you root for his dreams that much more, the amount of fanart and fanfic with the premise of "Shinso replaces Mineta in 1-A" is HUGE and we all love the idea that Mineta never entered 1-A and his spot was instead given to Shinso, i really wish that is what happened :/
Todoroki's backstory keeps getting sadder the more information they give you, he said to Deku "im not here to make friends" and then you realize that its because he doesnt see getting friends as something important, he wants to be a hero without using his fire just to spite his dad; which is understandable, but also he doesnt see the bigger picture or how that resentment and hatred is driving him to a darker path, and in this episodo you can see what could become of him because of his dad, if todoroki ever snaps it would 100% be his dad's fault, and i wouldn't blame todoroki.
ALSO!!!! Shinso's plan was to win the sports festival so that they would transfer him to the Hero Course; AND THAT'S WHAT HAPPENED TO AIZAWA TOO, When Aizawa was a student he was also in General Studies, but he won the Sports festival and got transfered to the Hero Course, where he befriended Present Mic (and others), and continued his trajectory to becoming a hero.
(Also, Todoroki saying "are you all might's secret love child" has become a meme, and now we have some fanart lying around of Todoroki as a Conspiracy Theorist and its SO FUNNY)😂

I appreciate your absolute disgust for Mineta, and applaud your refusal to give him any leeway on his words or actions. He's a creep, he's gross, and the worst part is that it's clear the show wants to play him off like he's funny. Basically, the punchline of the jokes involving Mineta are not that he's creepy and weird, it's that the girls are made uncomfortable by him, as though he couldn't do them "actual" harm. I compare the way MHA presents Mineta vs the way Haikyuu presents Tanaka and Nishinoya when it comes to girls. In Haikyuu, the joke isn't that Shimizu is uncomfortable from their attention, it's that they are acting ridiculous and over the top in their attentions to her. And they never do anything that puts Shimizu in an uncomfortable or compromising position, they are just overly enthusiastic about the small gestures of care she shows them. It's clear that Shimizu isn't weirded out by them, and also that they won't tolerate other people being actually or even potentially creepy to her. In MHA, Mineta often makes his female classmates uncomfortable and does and says things that they clearly do not appreciate. Tsu even says that she does not like being on the same team and in such close quarters with Mineta, and is only going along because it was otherwise a decent strategy. Momo and Jiro clearly did not feel comfortable in the cheerleader outfits or to be seen in that way. The show tries to make it "okay" by showing Hagakure being enthusiastic about it, and if she had chosen that outfit of her own accord that would be fine, but because they were tricked by Mineta into those outfits, Hagakure's enthusiasm reads as the show trying to say Momo and the others are overreacting by being creeped out. MHA does a lot of things well, but the treatment of female characters is not one of them, unfortunately. I think it's good that you mention your discomfort with those moments, because it is important to notice and be aware of it, and why it's not okay, even while still enjoying the show.
So, the comment about All Might's eyes being among those Deku saw, and his comment that it's a good thing - I think what that means is that All Might is now a part of One for All's history, he's part of the power Deku now wields, but looking in at Deku without affecting the power, rather than being the one looking out and seeing his predecessors. Basically him saying it's good is his acknowledging that the quirk is truly becoming Deku's more and more. Technically he uses One for All as well still, but it's not his power anymore. I think it could also mean that it's good that he's part of what Deku sees when he sees those eyes, that he'll be with him in those moments of need, when Deku needs to tap into his quirk, that he is part of that shared history, he has been woven into the tapestry that is One for All. It goes back to his question for Endeavor earlier, about raising the next generation of heroes. All Might is there, he's a part of it, already guiding Deku where he needs to go.
Cannot WAIT for the next one! Deku vs Todoroki is going to be fire (maybe not literally if Todoroki has his way, lol)!

The cheerleader kind of things are unnecessary fanservice. I don't consider Creati (Momo) or even the teacher's way of using theri quirk to be fanservice at all unless the teacher does something to imply it which i haven't seen Momo do yet. If the quirk usage depends on the surface area of skin, yeah i get it'll be a bit weird when thinking about it but thats how their quirks work, you know, the fictional powers of these fictional characters in this fictional world and the powers fit the fictional power system's usage.

Sure, Deku knew his power, but Shinso insulted his friend, and it's only human to respond to others without thinking, whether its due to anger or passion. Just like you got a bit heated in the moment, he did too. It's okay, sometimes feelings get the best of us.

Quick notes:
The Mineta stuff is eventually less and less until it's almost gone. And it does suck, he doesn't have fans at all.
The "don't mind" chant was to cheer up Todoroki, becasue you know, he almost froze half the stadium lmao, and they didn't want him to feel guilty. In this anime people not having full control of their powers is understandable, or at least forgivable considering it's common for a teenager. You should always think of quirks like muscles, this is what the show encourages
The scene is definitely designed to display Todoroki's limits. Which are, crazy high tho
1) Mineta stuff remains about the same really, he's just shown less often. He does get a couple consequences for his actions, but pretty minimal and mostly from students chastising him or girls defending themselves. There are several points where if it was a real world high school Mineta would have been suspended or expelled. I do agree though, if he cut it out with the disrespectful behaviour he'd be a decent character. He's just doomed to be the token perv because that's the way Horikoshi likes him to be.
2) The "don't mind" chant was 100% for Sero. After that display, no one in the stadium felt like Todoroki needed more cheering up than Sero did. His fight lasted almost no time, he barely got to show off what he could do, and he got frozen into solid ice.
