    (To my subscribers: Sorry there was no video last week. I really strive to post every Thursday, but this week was hard. We had our kiddos for a pre-placement visit, so we were focused on them and then had a few really sad things happen in our extended family. We've been taking some time to process, be with family, and get used to the new normal. I may be sharing about it soon, but for now we just need some space. Thanks for understanding!)

    I grew up bulimic from the age 7+, and I sadly can not have children for myself because of the toll it had on my body. But since I have always loved children and wanted to raise children, so adopting seems so perfect. I’ve had a rough childhood and I want to give my future children a much better life❤

    The only choice of having kids is to adopt as I am a homosexual male. I've known I've wanted to adopt for a while now but I still need to finish college, get a stable job, and overall have a consistent life. There are enough stereotypes about single males adopting and with me being gay I just hope it doesn't cause any more problems. The only reason I actually want to adopt is to make a child's life the best it can possibly become. I could go on and talk more about it but I don't want to write another essay. I guess adopting a waiting child through foster is the way to go, thank you for this video.

    You were saying you hadn’t heard of open international adoptions, but I just wanted to chime in and say that it definitely can and does happen. I know one family that adopted a baby boy with Down syndrome from Ukraine who has stayed in contact with his birth mother over the years, and has especially had increased contact throughout the war in Ukraine as the adoptive family tries to be there for the birth mom emotionally as well as financially through this dark time.

    Thanks again for the great, informative content! My husband and I are actually looking into embryo adoption and I'm surprised no one talks about it more (I knew nothing about it either until we got in touch with a couple different programs). It's generally faster and less expensive than domestic infant adoption (from what I've read, most programs can get you into their clinic within 6 months and cost between ($10,000-20,000 dollars). The program we are leaning towards costs $15,000 but has a 95% success rate and will fully refund you if you don't get pregnant within 3 attempts. We're also still in the process of becoming licensed to foster/adopt :)

      I think a lot of people don’t mention this as a form of adoption because they don’t really see it as adoption and see it more as a fertility treatment, as most people don’t see brand new embryos as actual children that need to be adopted. If that’s how you want to grow your family and you’ll let the kids have contact with their genetic family then I think that’s great though 😊

    It’s seems silly all the hoops you jump through to adopt a child, but the hospital will let you walk out with a newborn with no prior knowledge.

    • @ourtubesocks

      When you hear about all the children who are abused in foster/adopted homes you’ll understand why the hoops are necessary! I used to volunteer as a CASA (court appointed special advocate), and the little girl I was advocating for was being verbally bullied in her foster home, but the case worker said it “wasn’t that bad” and she had no where better to move her to. Children desperately need homes that are safe, loving and trauma informed.

    My Dad’s best friend adopted a girl through foster care. She had been severely beaten by her mom’s boyfriend. She had problems developmentally. The pediatrician in town told my dad’s best friend and his wife that the girl would not be worth adopting. They continued with the adoption. Yes the girl was delayed. My dad’s best friend and twin sister were adopted. The twin sister had cerebral palsy. Their parents would not split those two up and he wasn’t going to turn away anyone with a disability. She is an adult now and has kids of her own. They are having to raise the grandkids. I don’t know the backstory on the father so much other than he had developmental problems as well.

    • @adoptinformed
      @adoptinformed  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are lists of waiting children in each county as well as a national list on Adoptus kids. You can talk with your agency about adopting a waiting child and then you can see what they are able to do! Our agency can adopt from anywhere in the US, but our kids have all been placed from our state (just different counties).

      The thing is, we shouldn't call these "agencies" because they are not government agencies. They're for-profit businesses, companies, that manipulate, coerce, and deceive the birthmothers in order to obtain their product for other families to procure. Some of them have price lists for white babies, Black babies, newborns, older infants, healthy babies, babies with known disabilities or physical ailments. It's a racket. Supply and demand completely shapes the pricing. My adoption in 1964 cost $600, equivalent to $5,600 today. But you know how much private adoptions cost today. What changed? Nothing substantial has changed except two things: a) Roe v. Wade, and b) most white women in prenatal crisis who are carrying to term are keeping their babies today. Supply and demand! Yes a couple of things have changed: there is open adoption (NOT legally enforceable in any state, even in California which declares it enforces it but the judges don't do so), and birth-matching. Birth-matching doesn't cost money, though; it makes the adoption agency more money by making it more likely the birthmother will surrender her child to the hopeful adoptive parents. Both of these are deceitful, manipulative gimmicks to part the mother and her child.

    How do my wife and I go about doing fostering a waiting child? And could we adopt a baby, young toddler (like 2 or 3 years old) this way?

    • @adoptinformed
      @adoptinformed  ปีที่แล้ว

      You will want to look for an agency in your state that does “foster to adopt” or “waiting child adoptions.” Different states call it different things. You can also call your county’s job and family services first, but many prefer to find an agency that also helps facilitate adoptions from other states. It is more rare to adopt a child that is 2 or 3 in this way, but definitely not impossible. A lot will depend on if you are open to adopting that child with an older sibling or if you are open to adopting a child with some special needs.

    Could I ask a question: If I am not a US citizen, and I want to adopt US children, where the process could be different from a US-citizen-adoption? Let’s say I want a US new-born, I assume I come to the US, find a private agency, express my interest to them, pay and wait? I believe it would be more complicated and more red tapes involved 😢

    Hello, I'm 36 years old and I've lived in Alabama all my life.
    But I did see this video and I am interested in learning more about foster care for a newborn baby or up to 2 years old.
    Although the goal in mind is to provide a loving and safe home for a child however long they are with us, but if we and the child are a good fit and its not possible for that child to retirn back to theor borth parents, I want to know the process in how to adopt that child and will the govement still provide medical care for that child as well as a monthly billing to provide for all of the childs needs and care.
    Or if they immediately cut you and the child off from that source of means that helps provide even more so for that child?
    And I want to know more aboit the entire process of fostering to hopefully adopt in the future if your blessed enough to provide a jome for a baby that needs one that cannot go back to birth parents even thoigh that should be the main goal. It does sound more affordable and might have luck down the line of adoptong a child of the desired age you are wanting.
    I had no idea that other ways of adopting a child could cpst 20,000 or 40,000.
    So yes, foster and possibly adopt if given that chance sounds better too me of possible.
    I'm not ready to fill out a form or anything because I have to take this one step at a time with my husband. And discuss when is the best time to start the process. And I wonder how long it usually takes from starting the process and actually adopting a baby boy or baby girl in Alabama.
    Or how long it takes to just becole foster parents who may adopt later down the road.
    I just want to learn about the entire process, the requirements, the cost and how long it can take sometimes to find a newborn baby boy or newborn baby girl or 4-7 months old.
    And if you adopt or foster twins, is it alright if they share 1 decent size bedroom together?
    I don't know what the requirements need to be if my husband and I were to both decide to adopt a baby boy or baby girl.
    Or twin babys. Or foster them.
    But we can provide a safe, clean and loving home for a child with a bedroom all to themselves. And room to sleep, play and study for school when they are older.
    And a nice big yard to play outside.
    And provide according to their needs to the best of our ability.
    Plus my husband has a very large family and siblings lots of cousins and 2nd cousins he is close to that are kids and I have young nephew and nieces. So any child we are blessed with will be happily received and loved by this big family who supports one another and is there for each other. And they will have young cousins to grow up with.
    Do mosy start out as foster parents and sometimes decide to adopt the one they have fostered?
    How much does it cost to adopt those fostered in Alabama?
    And what are the requirements of being a foster parent?
    Is the cost the same no matter how young or old the child is?
    If we were to adopt a baby, and I decide to either only work part time or be a stay at home mom for a couple of years since my husband works full time, is that an issue that an adoption agency will have any problems with?
    Im sure they do a criminal record, and my husband and I have a clean record and have not been in trouble with the law. We also do not allow drugs or alcohol in our home. We are highly against it. Neither of us has any children. And I'm in my 30s. And we have been married for 17 years.
    And we are in good health.
    I imagine that it's hard to find adoption for a newborn baby boy and newborn baby girl, so is it best to fill out a form as soon as possible and get on a waiting list for adoption or fostering?
    And how many months will go by before a social worker would come out to your home to see your home and the provided room you have for a child?
    What are some questions we can be expected to ask and what all does a social worker look for in both the house and the potential adoptive parents?
    Do they require you to make a certain yearly income?
    Any information you can give me or send me by email I would greatly appreciate.
    I have a gmail account and can msg you if you give me your email.
    Or perhaps share a link to a page I can read about what to do and who to call?
    Thank you so much for your time.
    And I hope these little Angel's all find a home where they are safe and loved and given a chance for a great future and a family to support them along the way.

    Question: when adopting a waiting child, can they be homeschooled during the time of waiting? I’ve heard that they have to go to public school… I homeschool my 4 so just want to prepare for the dynamic

    • @adoptinformed
      @adoptinformed  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It is very possible they will require the child to go to public school during that time frame. There can be good things about that because it could allow them to meet kids in the area and the school can often provide services like speech, occupational therapy, one-on-one time with the counselor, etc. That saves you a lot of time and effort as a homeschool parent having to outsource those things :) However, if you think homeschool would be a good fit for the child, you could always ask if they would allow you to do online public school. That way the child would still be at home, just following a public school curriculum on the computer.

    What about wanting to adopt a kid anywhere from age 2-7 years old? Is it possible to foster them first and then fully adopt them? Is it possible to adopt a kid 2-7 years old without fostering them first as well? Are all kids who are in the foster care system have parents and or family who are alive or are any kids in the system kids with no living family at all?

    • @CryptidboyO.O

      Yes that’s actually pretty common, sometimes the parent or the social worker will offer you to adopt the child if you have a good connection and are a good fit for that kid

    Assistance for childbirth on the premise of giving up your child feels incredible unethical. Are there similar assistances available for parents who choose to keep their child?

    • @adoptinformed
      @adoptinformed  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is an older video so I’m trying to remember what you are referring to…in infant adoption, adoptive parents typically will help with medical assistance for the birth mom who has chosen them to parent her child. If the birth mom changes her mind after giving birth (which I completely think she deserves that right), the adoptive parents don’t get any of that back, so in essence that bio mom did get assistance. In foster care adoption, the bio parents lost parental rights due to ongoing neglect and abuse. Foster parents who adopt these children are often given some financial assistance to help care for their child’s needs, including different types of therapy and activities to help them overcome some of the trauma they have experienced. Foster care adoption fills a big need and is more financially accessible for most parents.

    What I learned in this video is that the government & adoptive agencies own the kids & they just do whatever rules. I say this cuz it seems that all the process is just toooo long & EXPENSIVE.😳
    When people get pregnant they have their kids in any situation & they adapt their lives to their new member of the family.
    The only think that those entities should know is the fact that the couples are not criminals, they have jobs & a house or apt.
    Thank you for the video I learned something else.

    Like the American adoption system is any better than any other country. The same problems if you have looked behind the curtain of the American system. Just more greed in the American system, and more money for the human traffickers. No difference at all. The only way adoption should work is flat fee with no astronomical prices and make sure the families are stable. That doesn't cost that much. A camera to do the home recording is like 100 bucks. A person to review it for approval only 200-300$ worth of man hours. Thats for America and thats cheap.

    Uh, hi. I'm not actually trying to adopt. But as a nonprofessional writer/artist, I have this female character that happens to take care of a preteen girl that used to be homeless. Now that I'm attempting to go deeper in how this happened, it turns out I have no idea of how adoption works.
    I'm in no way looking to disrespect you, would appreciate if you could give me a little notion about adoption of homeless children. If you are not comfortable with it, I'll understand it and delete my comment right away!
    Thanks!

      I totally agree. I wish the process of adoption wasn’t so expensive. We adopted from foster care because we knew we wanted to adopt, but the other routes didn’t seem financially feasible. There are definitely corrupt situations, but there is also a lot of complexity to why adoptions are so costly. With infant adoption, a lot of money often goes to helping the birth mother with medical expenses or even living expenses, which can add up. With international adoption, you have documentation traveling from one country to another, needing to be translated. Oftentimes workers from your agency will need to travel to the country to help make arrangements. You need attorneys to help with making the adoption legal…etc. I wish there was an easier solution!

    The other thing is if a mother and father want to willingly give their child to a family member it should be free and no say on the governments part.

  • @azulbernal1051

    To me that is actually buying a baby. We pay taxes, so this should be covered by government, as we are keeping these kids away from foster care, even if they come direct from a birth parent. I adopted 2 girls, in my country, after giving birth to 3 boys. The ONLY fee I had to pay, was for their new birth certificates, and that was about $1 US dollar. So to me, when I hear about these fees, it feels like buying a baby. And I am afraid now for one of my sons, as we move away from our country, and now he wants to adopt… but these fees make it almost unattainable to him…
