Some people work their whole lives in it and just barely make enough to live comfortably... while others get lucky and get that spot in that one big film and make more money off one film than other actors/musicians etc. did in their entire careers... not only that but now that they were in a major blockbuster hit as a lead role they can ask for tremendous amounts of money when being asked to possibly star in movies afterwards, and actually have a reasonable chance of getting the insane amount they ask for.
So you have a guy like John Witherspoon who probably never even made twenty million dollars throughout his entire career, but has been in the business for decades, then you have a guy like Chris Tucker who gets rich pretty much right out the gate because he got lucky and landed that "one big role", making more money off one film than guys like John do in their entire careers.
Lucien LaChance Chris Tucker is in debt, and has some serious tax problems going on right now.

The movie Friday cost $3.5 mill to make and made $6 mill in 3 days & 27 mill in USA and the actors only got 6k;Ice cube & Dj pooh(the screenwriters)must still be spending money from that movie.

To be fair Friday was one of ice cubes first movie he wrote/produced. He used a bunch of unknown actors, and nobody expected the movie to do so well or be considered a "classic" of today. As a matter of fact alot of the urban movies of the 90s the actors wasnt paid much.

@LionsAllday DETROIT 3.5 million is a tiny ass budget for a movie backed up by a studio dawg.
You have to get props, you have to get extras, you have to have a film crew (that includes people you pay to cook food all day and you got to feed all your film crew everyday), you have to get food, you got to pay your above the line people like directors/producers/ main actor, you have to pay your actors/ extras, you have to pay for gear rentals (cameras, different camera lenses, lights, stands for your lights, microphones, microphone accessories, etc), you have to get a wardrobe, etc.
And that's just production
Then there's post production. So the editor has to get paid. Oh you got some bad audio on the set? well now you got to rent studio time and pay your actors to dub their lines in the studio.
And even if your dialogue is good in every scene, you still need to go to the studio for sound effects. You have to pay people to recreate subtle sound effects like foot steps, setting down a glass, etc.
So 20,000 wouldn't do jack shit. 3,500,000 is more believable.
