John's death came as a complete shock to me, i had just watch his new cooking video he posted on TH-cam the day before he passed away. Out of all our black entertainers in Hollywood, he was one of a few that kept it real and down to earth, so everyone, no matter who it was, or where they came from in the world, could relate to him and his comedy. The world is a little bit more darker and bleak since john passed, the world will never be the same again. From a fan in North Carolina, John, my family and i are sorely going to miss you and your comedy, you are my brother from another mother in life, as well as in death. Prayers and many blessings to your family, friends, and fans from around the world, may our lord give them all comfort, and a smile every time they think of you, as you were truly a gift sent from god, for all of us to enjoy in your comedy.
I got to met John twice here in las vegas and got pictures and autographs with him and out of all of the celebrities i've met over the past 24 years here i can honestly say he was the coolest most down to earth genuine person i've ever met, he was one hell of a guy, i remember hearing about his passing and it devastated me and i hope he's resting in eternal peace and happiness.

Ice Cube did him proud! Mr. Witherspoon IS a legend and he IS hilarious. My favorite phrase in Friday is when he tells Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, "I know ya'll be in there smoking them tweeds." I thought I'd never stop laughing. It reminds you of when your parents try to say something down from your generation, but they totally miss the mark. Rest in Heaven John Witherspoon! You will truly be missed!

Yeah! This hit home. I knew him personally in passing. My son went to his Sister-in-law's daycare from 6 weeks to 9 yrs old. She's his second Momma. He's 27 yrs old and still calls her the name he called her when he was a toddler. B/c he couldn't pronounce her name. RIP John.
