    A very, very good collection of examples all related to a very difficult subject for many Spanish "estudiantes".

    I agree with all the positive comments about this explanation. I have really been struggling with the Imperfect Subjunctive, but I feel so much more confident now. Thank you.

    Que haces mañana? yo esperaba que me acompañaras a mi fiesta mañana. Aqui usamos el imperfect subjunctive in spanish pero los que hablamos spanish nos referimos al TIEMPO FUTURO TAMBIEN. En english seria traducido literalmente pero la verdad no se si estara bien o no en engles, what do you do tomorrow? I hoped that you (accompanied) me to my party TOMORROW.

      En inglés sería más común traducirlo "I hoped (o was hoping) that you would come with me to the party tomorrow." Poco usamos la palabra "accompany" en el inglés hablado pero oírse un poco formal. Gracias por la observación!

      In my opinion ,in English it would be translated as follows""What are you doing tomorrow? I am hoping that you will accompany me to my party tomorrow.

      Tal vez lo más probable en inglés sería "I was hoping that you would go with (accompany) me to the party tomorrow."

      If the person answered "why" the spanish yo esperaba que me acompañaras a mi fiesta manaña would be translated by an english speaker as follows:I was hoping that you would accompany me to my party tomorrow..In my opinion the imperfect and the imperfect subjunctive as used in spanish are correct.

    Thank you so much for having lots of practice sentences.

    Would it be incorrect if the negative "no" were to be used before "nadáramos"?

    • @davidfarnsworth2713
      @davidfarnsworth2713  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, because the sentence would mean "The lifeguard prohibited us from not swimming in that area...."

    Thanks so much for your beautiful class. I am Persian and we have subjunctive mood exactly as Spanish and it's much easier for us to get it. I know it's a very difficult part of learning Spanish for many people. The way you explain is very helpful. God bless you ❤❤❤
