    Blade attacks usually don't come in the form of a knife duel. Will you be ready to "Die Less Often"?
    In the triple disc "Die Less Often" we began sharing our take on "the Interface of Gun, Knife, and Empty Hand". We introduced threat management, "the Kali Fence", weapon access issues, pre-emption/interception tactics and techniques, reactive techniques ("the Dog Catcher"), and tested them all full force in Force-on-Force drills using people who had trained in the material for only a day and a half in order to show that the material had a practical primal state foundation that could be installed to good effect in remarkably short order.
    In DLO 2, the focus shifted to accessing a gun during a knife attack. Here the focus discerning whether one needed to deal with the knife attack before accessing the gun, or whether to use range control, angle, and certain footwork to go for the gun before the knife attack arrived. Again, this was tested in Force-on-Force drills.
    Having shown dynamic testing of the fundamental structures, in DLO 3 we turn to a deeper study of the particulars of managing unknown contacts/threat management, the Kali Fence, the angular brachial stun, how to start the fight by getting to your intended attacker's back while denying/controlling his potential for weapon access, weapon neutralization, (capture, disarm, and/or receiver grip) and much more.
    DLO 1 showed the big picture of some material we think to be pretty sharp and really practical -- now DLO 3 gives the little details and fill in your matrix of options that deepen your understanding and raise your ability to apply the material in ever more challenging situations.
    If you are in the military and dealing with potential hostiles up close, in law enforcement, corrections work, security work, door work, or if you simply want to have these understanding for yourself as you "walk as a warrior for all your days" this is a DVD for you.

    Yes he does, doesn't he? He is also the guy that got dropped by Dog Dan with the Brondo Buzzsaw combination in the Nat Geo documentary- so he has been razzing me to include his good fights in the future lest he look like Tank in his final fights. Tangent: When I was a judge at UFC 10, I sat next to Tank at the bar the night before. Tank was in his prime. I remember walking behind him and thinking that I could take 2-3 free shots and still not faze him. The animal vitality was impressive.

    @JSpradley123 search for these 2 youtube videos( "Threat Indicators" & "Know your Pre Attack Indicators") for more examples. The 2nd 1 shows a real scenario. As Denny was demonstrating, when u see indicators u need to take action like telling the guy "I've had enough, I'm leaving" or "get out of my face" as u retreat. If he follows, a fight is already on & u need to be ready for the physical attack portion. I don't like a lot of DBMA techniques, but the prefight information is correct.

    That "kid" had his hands in his pockets (hidden weapon issues) and refused repeated commands to take them out. There's additional issues presented, but IMHO the kid had it coming.

    Everything Marc Denny does is friggin' awesome. The core DB stick stuff isn't my cup of tea, but when he does the RBSD thing, he does it well too.

    I buy their downloads and love the concepts but it is extremely funny to hear him jump through hoops and do backflips to not admit that the knife hands and forearm smashes they do have always been part of Okinawan Karate (not Karatedo) and Southern/Fukienese Kung Fu. Most peoples exposure to Karate is Karatedo and Taekwondo, oriented towards sports. And a modern type of Kung Fu focusing on forms competition and points or Sanda. their angles of attack, long arm attacks, knifehands etc are echoed in that "Classical mess" (which was never a mess, but often deliberately mistaught or taught incompletely) But they've been brilliant in taking the mobility and retraction of boxing to it. But man, that dogcatcher can be seen on you tube in multiple traditional arts.

    You see the same initial moves in most of the kung Fu San Soo videos on you tube, the forearm bracial stun, the angular attacks and counters, dusrupting the opponents base. There seem to be universal approaches to preempting a deadly weapon. I think the TFT and SCARS videos did it as well.

    @outsidepers U are exactly wrong, DBMA are famed exclusively because of their full contact stick fighting. Get a clue, if DBMA didn't do full contact stick fighting they would be unknown. They became a viral sensation 10 years ago specifically because of the full contact stickfighting. The problem is that hook sucked. He calls it a "nice hook" & it's not. It is a telegraphed arm punch. It is a sad beginers looking hook. For MMA guys, that was a terrible choice.

  • @bae313
    @bae313 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @outsidepers Say whatever u want about the hook, but it is still slow & telegraphed & has poor form. If u are the zit faced, acne scarred, scottish, bore in the outsidepers vid, u were maybe 5 years old when I 1st heard about the dog brothers & the reason anybody cared is specifically because they were doing full contact stickfighting & there were videos of the action. I was training at that time & u were in diapers, that's why u don't know crap about what was going on back then.

    If you say that's what it was then I believe you. But without that context it just looks like he went psycho on him for no reason.

    great; a combat-vet-medic in DB; but i would adjust the forearm-to-neck, in the downed-guy, knife-behind-the-neck-hold, to: the palm against his head, arm outstretched, pushing head, face, to sidewalk--MAINLY to get you forearm out of the blade-slash-path to the max, the 'release path' of the knife, after any cut, etc

    Is there any chance Sir, that you might help out and provide the webadress ?
    Otherwise great clip, full of good intel.
    Take care, stay safe train hard and have a nice day

    @Rapist87 U ARE WRONG, listen to the text again. start @:58. Before the hook he is talking about "I need to think about the ability to preempt." This refers to throwing a strike @ a threat when an assault upon u is imminent. He goes on about, "If I need to articulate (to LEO/prosecutor’s office) what it was that caused me to intercept what he was doing..." @ 1:15 the sad hook appears as his response, nothing mentioned of a street criminal solution. I said the cop's premptive move is MUCH better

  • @bae313
    @bae313 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @DBMAVIDS Wow, state the obvious, I am just trying to let others know that some of the techniques shown on the internet are a house of cards rather than having actual street application.

    @pongoid search "Las Vegas Takedown" to see the vid with audio. It was justified as the guy had been causing trouble and would not respond to the officer's requests.

    What the heck was that all about at 1:25?! That cop just took that kid down out of nowhere.

  • @bae313
    @bae313 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @JSpradley123 It's a sign that the guy may be feeling nervous which often precedes an impending attack.

    @bae313 Listen m8,I've been training "reality" since before the first UFC when I was still a teenager and Geoff Thompson first came on the scene,and I've been at it ever since,I competed for many years I also work as a bouncer so don't tell me about reality.None of those names are new to me reality is you leaving snidey comments about a DVD you obviously never seen putting down DBMA while posting vids of yourself training FMA with your kids and posing in a ninja mask with a knife aged 50 grow up

  • @Rapist87
    @Rapist87 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @bae313 Firstly, this is a series of clips from the dvd and therefore there is not supposed to be a specific continuity between the segments of the dvd shown - just an overall flavour. Secondly, the "sad left hook" you refer to is actually a demonstration of how a street criminal might "solve" a commonly used street stance, not an instruction in how to left hook someone. Thirdly, The cop in the clip is used to illustrate pre emption, not how to grab someones neck. Lastly, I think your a knob

  • @Rapist87

    @bae313 And no he is not wrong,DBMA were famous for stick fighting yes,but ALOT of people were doing stick fighting.DBMA were famous because they did stick fighting WITH NO RULES and WITH LIMITED PROTECTION.In effect it was MMA WITH WEAPONS when mma was still nhb.And as much as that hook might suck next to your god like abilty to beat your kids up,I've been in and seen alot of fights on the door over the years and I've seen MANY won in a similar fashion,which is what the dvd is warning you of

    Don't overlook the stick stuff. All of this stuff comes from that stick stuff. A lot of these motions and concepts are already in place from practicing with weapons. He just removes the blinders and off you go! ;)
