i like that you put all the footage together in one video, there is a reason most channels eventually move on from a bunch of 5 minute videos to doing feature lenght episodes, great to see you skipped that and are straight into the big league 👍
That was a great video Dave, your a hard working person with no delusions of grandeur just a champion in my eyes love your channel it should be growing cheers mate from Australia
13:09 as i know you should have a bushing each side of the perch, the sway bar link work up and down. You certainly have a squished lower bushing,or it's missing, that's why it's out of thread. The axle oil seems to be mixed with water,it will damage bearings and gears. Those dodge are nice,i would have one for sure if i lived in your country.
@15:37 instead of painting them spray them and your whole underbody with fluid film or a wax based protectant, when u paint stuff in the rust belt it actually makes it worse and in no time that painted surface will just flake off with rust
Love this. Identical (except the manual) to the truck my dad said he had before he sold it to pay for the hospital bills when my sister born. He might have actually had it still today!
0:45 lol I like how you just casually mention a frame replacement as though that's a normal everyday repair job and not the single most difficult thing you could to do a truck. Those must be worth a lot of money up there. Love the Ford wheels.
One of my first times really working on a vehicle was changing a wheel bearing and ball joints with a buddy on his 05 ram 2500. It was not easy haha. Learned a lot from working on the truck (it always needed something ).
@28:34 Dave please tell me you have another jack stand that I can’t see and not relying on that floor jack to support that side! I’ve seen those jacks fail and I don’t want you getting crushed we’re no one can help you! Please use jack stands or some kind of sturdy cribbing to support vehicle you get under, your a good man don’t want to see you injured my guy
2/12/24..so (almost) Happy Mardi Gras Dave on this Monday b4 our annual crazyness🎉, glad to see you retro front end disc brakes, steering box & other fundamentals for driving in your cold climate. You do a lot of hard work & make it look easy. You, Andrew & Jesse Muller, you guys make complicated equipment interworkings look do-able thus encourage we viewers to go ahead & 'tackle' our various issues...mechanical or otherwise...It's great to see you (& above mentioned) make things work right! Humm...have you ever thought about politics?..hey, you can bring a few 🛠 hammers with you for those 'meetings', aye?💪⚙️🍺🍜😊
Being a new viewer, I think you could use an over head crane the length of your garage and or a lift for getting under the vehicles. Anyway great video.
I was gonna say, andrew would be drooling to get a hold of the truck(too replace his), if nothing else give him a chance, if/when u decide to send it down the road ?! Plus cody and blue would LOVE❤ to ride in confort !!😂
Yeah so he can keep destroying these hard to find trucks now makes alot sense... sell to someone responsible not him I wouldn't even if I was hurting for money truck made it 23 years and he'll kill it within a year
Was it just me or was that awful looking gear oil? It was gear oil wasn't it? Ha Ha. I don't think I would own a dodge but this vintage is still pretty cool. The old 12Valve! I've always liked that sound.
Probably should of done the wheel bearings you went through all that and put the used ones back in i wouldnt ever especially anyways dodges front wheel bearings dont last at one bit lol but to each is own if you like doing the same thing often
@@Dumpster_Dave autozone sells cheap ones for like 180 and can also get bearings for them from oriellys and install new ones in the hub or they sell entire hub for 200 a side not sure if you tried them but napa tends to cost a little more and I think personally oriellys parts are comparable and sometimes can get things for like f550s that day where napa cant
What a real shame is in these trucks they are solid all around except the cheap plastic dash boards. I think the pre 98' models were better, but so many with cracked trash dash boards and really no way to fix them right. Junk Yards have already been gone through and they do not make them new any longer. I think there are some after market dash covers, built when the heater cores fail the dash boards break like crazy changing out a heater core or evaporator core. I wanted to buy another 1997 like the Ram I had and all of them I checked out had destroyed dash boards so I went with GM.
@@Dumpster_Dave hope you are able to fix it you might get lucky and find a dash if not maybe there is an after market salution available. It is a real sore spot for those wanting to restore these old Rams.
This truck is about 95% rust free now with the hard work all done re fixing brakes and steering. Why not go the other 5% and cover the remaining rust covered bolts and parts with some kind of rust proofing ? Then spray ALL of the undercarriage with RustChek or something else that will protect it!
My wife was watching this video with me. I said it needs axle joints, ball joints, and wheel bearings. She asked “How can you tell that from here?” I said it’s a Dodge, they always need them- end of story.
What moron designed the brake rotors the way that you have to smack out and press in the studs everytime?? Rotors are a wear part just like the pads and could easily be made to slip over the studs from the outside... Always a joy to watch you getting things done, thx a lot! 👍👍👍
@@Dumpster_Dave dave, we'r just teasing u ! Andrew likes those kinda dodges.... and u have one ! Plus we know yall are friends.. nice truck, u still have the newer one too right ?
96 Dodges need new frames and cabs, meanwhile I'm on the original everything in my 96 Toyota, needs nothing. Chrysler / dodge are just terrible products.
Awesome truck. Don’t let Andrew anywhere near that
Andrew be bouncing it off trees
Not with his chainsaw .anyway !!
😂
It might break for no reason
😂😂😂
Still in my humble opinion the best looking truck Dodge ever made !
The more I look at these the more I like them. And that 12v is going to last forever
Nothing like watching someone working hard while I'm sitting drinking a beer. LOL
Drinking a Beer and smoking an Alec Bradley Cigar right Now! Yahoo

That was a great video Dave, your a hard working person with no delusions of grandeur just a champion in my eyes love your channel it should be growing cheers mate from Australia
Thanks
Yes i will second that jeffery
Congrads you just saved yourself 90,000. buying used instead of a new truck
And if the same guy who did the frame and cab swap looked after the wiper motor wiring, then you know it was all done right. Sorta.
Reminds me of our Government $84 Trillion in debt! And they issue our credit scores??? Yeppers they sure do!

I’m not a dodge guy but I would love a nice clean 12v manual like that…
Been anxiously waiting for your return, brother! Thanks for the video and congratulations on the truck. I can’t wait to see videos on your new shop.
Thanks, I’ve been crazy busy with dumpsters but already started filming the next one.
I didn't know doing brakes on a larger truck was such a chore! Lots more to consider compared to a car or small truck haha
That year of dodge is a pain in the balls. I can do a set of brakes and rotors on my ford supper duty in about an hour
Ah yes the reminder to me that I hated doing bearings/hubs on rusty dodges in NY 😂
Found your channel a few days ago, and I just love it! Subscribed!!

Funny you noticed the wheels, those are off a 1997 f350
Great video of hard work for a reward.
someone did a nice polish rebuild on it, i see theres some components where only one side was painted. that front dif fluid looked good to.
Yeah, I would not say it was a restoration project, rust free parts, though
They also make death wobbel kits specifically for those trucks worth googling and reading about it. Just mentioning it.

Those trucks are everywhere where I live they are amazing they must have done something right if they're still around!
The motors run forever,

Your new pickup has some nice chunky tyres on it. Nice one, all the best from England .Ps, nice camera work by the way.
I had a 1994 12V and 2006 24V Cummins 2500. I really regret selling my 12V in 2021. I guess I'll just settle for my 2006 24V Cummins 2500.
Nothing like a 12 valve, but the 4 door is nice on the 2006
Clean truck, good call buying it back
I need part #2 the actuator work?
Yes sorry I didn’t put that in there, I just bought some after parts for the truck so I will be doing another video
1" impact set to perfect torque setting. Some things I get it, but the wheel bearing isn't the place to skip it.
I think the torque setting is 175 ft pounds on those.
Nice looking truck
Thank you for sharing , always a pleasure watch your project, I learn a lot 👍👍👍👍
Thanks
Great video. Don’t leave the truck around Andrew he might take it from you .haha.
Nice truck...eat your heart out Andrew !!
Nice truck. I want one
Thanks, it always starts right up
Ducha a great job !
Did you know some dealers would put newspaper under the valve cover to quiet it down. I guess you kind of figured out how long I been turning wrenches
That’s crazy

DAVE??? Where you been brother?? More vids of your awesome skills 😁🤙🏼💯🙌 like seeing your diversity of content 🤙🏼😎
Thanks, I’m filming the next video now
@@Dumpster_Dave thanks again 🤙🏼💯
Sweet truck! Use some of the TH-cam money to get Milwaukee tools though lol Milwaukee impact would’ve taken those hub bolts right out!
Hi Dave
Its Super Cool Video
Painting those wheels was a crime
The clearcoat was all peeled off
Hunter Bidens Laptop is a crime!!
That still a cool looking truck I like 👍
Passed by you over in Greenport by Alvarez homes
Cool,
Fun video...keep them coming.

Dave, might have to retire that Dewalt impact and get a Milwaukee.
Good job! Did you change the front diff fluid that was getting milky?
That workshop is crying out for a two-post lift.
Or maybe a couple more jack stands?
Was it just me or was that awful looking gear oil? It was gear oil wasn't it? Ha Ha.
I don't think I would own a dodge but this vintage is still pretty cool. The old 12Valve! I've always liked that sound.
Looked like Water mixed with oil 😅
Andrew’s gassing up the chainsaw
I can’t believe this truck I just saw to loosen the wheel bearing. I spent hours using a sledge hammer to pull mine out last time 🥲
Women, Equipment, Trucks
Rode hard, Left dripping.
Love the content man! Keep it up!
Andrew may have a bumper for that beauty shortly- his Ram is looking rough!
It might fit

Are those 17 inch Hummer wheels?
1997 f350 wheels
your bent tie rod looks interesting.
I think that’s factory
painting those aluminum rims is a sin.
Yeah, but the careful masking job made up for it.
Nice :)
Only thing it needs is a set of eBay nerf bars…
Эмульсия в заднем мосту, масло срочно под замену.
Did the 4wD work?
Yeah
Joe Bidens 4 wheel drive is stuck in Obama's Rear axle? Yeppers
Bro that gear oil in the front axle needs to be changed…
Yeah it does
