They are both incomparable. There voices are just not a good blend. In her prime Sandi was untouchable. UNTOUCHABLE. Age affects us all. She will always be a legend. No awards needed. She is simply The Voice.
It's simply a matter of age. David would have been around 47 here, while Sandi was 60. This is a huge difference. I love both of these artists. A soprano's voice ages faster than a tenor's does. I have always been a huge Sandi Patty fan and began to appreciate David's voice years later when he started recording. But, once again, age affects us all. Personally, i think the biggest voice shift for Sandi came around 2015. If you google her performance of Joyful, Joyful with Veritas on TH-cam, she still sounded like vintage Sandi. But, videos I've seen after this year seem to indicate a change. She still has incredible abilities for someone in her sixties, but, of course, it's different. If you watch Sandi in the 80's and 90's, you will hear an impeccable Soprano, unmatched and unequalled among her peers! I feel the same about David, but if I had to choose which talent (all things considered) that I considered the most exceptional, it would be Sandi Patty. Much respect to them both!

It really is hard to get past Larnelle Harris and his voice.....I worked in a record store when that sound came out. I love David Phelps voice but I have to agree ....the original is awesome
@@aimanisahac - Larnelle and David are both singers that I admire and think are out-of-this-world talented. In this situation, I think it's just that Larnelle and Sandi's voices are a better match for each other. The two of them go back so far together in their singing careers, and Larnelle's tone complements Sandi's voice better than David's does. He has so much soul and they just seem to get each other's patterns of expression and have a natural trust in each other. That only comes with lots of experience singing together. You're right, though. David's performance was flawless as usual while Sandi struggled a bit. Larnelle and David can't really properly be compared. They are both such different singers yet both so incredibly talented.
I heard them together years ago and it was phenomenal. I'm afraid she's in the same boat we're all paddling, she's getting older and just can't hack it anymore. I don't mean to be unkind, but we need to recognize when we're beyond it and even DP can't fix it. He is phabulous as always.
its time for Sandi to retire i think... age has caught up with her voice... her voice is shaky and her falsettos not quite like before anymore, her vibratos are all over the place and even sounds annoying already... though she is a legend in gospel music but her voice is not anymore like it used to be... just being honest, she may still be able to hit high notes but too much shaky falsettos and now... shortly after the beginning, i was struggling to like her voice blending with David's...she could still sing God's praises but not hold concerts anymore... David is amazing -- by far, the best singer i have ever heard... his vocals are just out of this world, what a gift!
Ehhhhh. Definitely seems like age has caught up to Sandi Patty. She should probably stick to her lower register because her vibrato is pretty annoying to listen to.

Sorry, David is in a league of his own love larnell but they have very different types of voices . Each great in their own right

I think Sandi was nervous during this concert. She’s my favorite singer by far, but she was off this one concert

I believe that was Sandi's retirement party. She said she could no longer give a quality concert.
