Our First Impressions Of Cyprus🇨🇾 (we're in love)

- In today's episode, we bring you on our first two days in the incredibly interesting country of Cyprus, an island split between three (or four, if you count the UN) powers and with a complicated history. (The three powers are the Republic of Cyprus (Greek), Turkey, and the UK.)
These days, it's a popular beach destination for us Europeans, and it was definitely about time we went there!
On this trip, we would only explore the southern Greek part. In the future, we'll hopefully be able to visit Northern Cyprus too (controlled and recognized only by Turkey).
We are Oskar & Dan, two boys from Sweden who decided to change the course of our lives, drop out of university, and live life full-time. We're trying to see and learn as much about the world as possible while we're young. WOW! SO happy you visited my country! I am half Cypriot/half English. Grew up in England and decided to move over to Cyprus 2 years ago. I use to come to Cyprus every summer to visit family but never appreciated the true beauty the island has to offer until i moved over here. If you visit again, you HAVE to stay at Casale Panayiotis in Troodos Mountains. Love your videos!!!
I've stayed in troodos actually but not in casale panayiotis instead in forest park hotel. great place.

@@MTDrums Bro Cypriots are Greek they have the Greek National Anthem they use the Greek Alphabet many Cypriots identify as Greek Cypriots and if you have to do your Military Service when you are 18 in Greece you can also be stationed to Cyprus it's like Greek Land

Friends! I grew up in Greece and Canada but sadly, I've never visited Cyprus (it's been on my bucket list for a while)! It looks so nice and I'm so happy you're enjoying the food! I visited Greece back in October 2019 and it truly is the best time to go! The weather is sublime, the water is still warm, and most of the tourists are gone at that point. I hope you continue to have a good time and please keep sharing the yummy vegan food you're finding!

I was in Cyprus last month (Paphos region, Limmasol and Nicosia). Petra Tou Romiou (Aphrodite's Rock) is really beautiful 😍 October was the perfect time to visit the country.Lovely weather and not too busy.
Indeed October is very nice. This 2023 summer we have over 40°C continously

Hey Boys,thank you for that - especially the ABBA sample - wonderful taste of Cyprus. The only thing that hasn't changed is Petra tou Romiou,which I've snorkled around and am definitely thinking either it was the wrong rock or I've angered the Gods😅😅😅; that was 40/5yrs ago,though I've not had to resort to both,so maybe it was worth it😉.
Everything looks far more glamorous than when I used to go,off & on for 5 years,but,the people were super friendly and as you'll have found you can drive from one end of island to other in less than a day.
It looks like there's a part 2,so maybe you'll have gotten up into the Troodos Mountains? I'm not a skier,but,on one trip the people I was with arranged to ski in the morning & swim in the sea in the afternoon!,it was awesome.
I only read you like a response to longer or shorter blogs & for me it doesn't matter just so long as you're doing what you both do SO well.
As usual it's not just the journey, but,the pleasure of you two,enjoying it together.

I'm living in Cyprus for the past 10 years (I am from Greece). I still cannot drive manuals here in Cyprus. The shifter linkages are designed for RHD cars and the 1st gear is away from the driver.

As I watch you near your goal, I have stopped to extoll you to memorialize your experiences and locations in book form. I'd love to see a collection that illustrates the best/worst, opinions of differing cultures, observations of note, hints, suggestions, 'must-do's,' etc. This info could happen across several types of media.
I'm telling you, when I go to the Barnes and Noble near where I live, I would grab anything you two published in book form. I've got a coffee table in front of me that would look great with your book sitting on it!
Cyprus is such a nice place to stay :) i have been living here the last 5 years, it’s sooo nice… you should come to the east cost instead, it’s much nicer than the vest cost
I think the west coast is the best Paphos is my favourite .
@@ronrichardson3103The west coast is better because you have Akamas Peninsula NP. It is more natural than say Ayia Napa which is too touristy . So west is best !

I spent 4 months in Cyprus . The locals were either very friendly or very arrogant. There were some beautiful places . Troodos and Paphos was the most beautiful . The history was quite good but I could not handle the mentality of our relatives. The ones who have inherited land are the most arrogant , greedy people . When I visited Cyprus most if my cousins didn’t care to get to know . This is the main reason I visited Cyrus , to meet my relatives and spend quality time with them . Anyway me and my husband took ourselves places to enjoy ! I won’t ever return back because I was not welcomed there .

What's the plan after 100 countries? Go for all of them, prioritize more party destinations or intense hikes while you're young, or just change careers into standup etc.

Nice video but i have few notes. Around 8:53 you said that "50% of the people are retired Brits".. I would say that's not so accurate but its true that Top tourists for Cyprus are British. The reason you saw many older people its because October its a month that older people choose to visit Cyprus. The high season its June-July-August where its more families and younger ages that are visiting Cyprus from all over the world.

Great video. Question - where did you stay on your layover in Amman? I am looking at a layover there also. The reviews of hotels around the airport are pretty bad. The quick view of your room looked good and you mentioned a great breakfast spread. Any info would be appreciated.

No they shouldn't. They should know that North Cyprus is illegally occupied from Turks since their invasion in 1974 and therefore they must not visit. All foreigners should know and don't visit to show their respect to the Cypriots.

The Ottomans defeated the Venetians and conquered Cyprus. All of Cyprus belongs to Turkiye. The British moved the Greeks to the island starting from the 1900s and took the lands of the Turks!!

I'm a greek-speaking Cypriot living in Limassol. I believe Cyprus is the ugliest island in the Mediterranean. Like Iran, it's a theocratic democracy. It's also the most corrupt country in the European Union!!
Cyprus is only beautiful at the sea ,not far from the sea, there are so many damaged roads, no sidewalks ,people only drive cars ,don't walk ,also there are so many very old cars which pollute the air. There are also many cigarette smokers. This year summer is very hot 40 degree , many people don't even have air conditioner at home ,electricity is very expensive, they don't use solar energy ,so ridiculous. And almost everything is more expensive than some years ago. Overall i am so disappointed...
