Good question bro. In Taekwondo, you learn punching in different stances, but for points barring only a single straight punch to the body is allowed one normal kick to the body is worth two or more. Taekwondo encourages you to practice your kick some more and use them as other martial arts, including MMA, do not require you to use, however learning Mui Tai or another kicking martial art would be helpful
