Synyster Gates is legit the most incredible person I’ve ever heard of. The fact him and his father made a completely free online school just because they want more musicians out there is beyond respectful. I love Syn, he’s such a great person.

@NoiseFeedMusic I dont like associating with emo, punk, etc. I like metal. But I discovered A7x before I saw their previous image. but honestly labels were pushing that image heavy in the early 2000s, and new bands getting signed onto labels are gonna listen so they can make money. trivium and avenged sevenfold both had that emo lookin era. they grew out of it, and now we got things like The Stage. When listening to their interviews they are just like us, or me at least. we love our traditional heavy metal, we grew up on thrash metal, maiden, metallica, megadeth etc. they arent screamo kids

Sitting here with Avenged Sevenfold Guitarist: Christopher Walken, to ask him about his current projects.
Not being a hater, Syn talks a good game but his rock playing is average shred material. I'll give him points for the gypsy jazz stuff.
And actually he looks like a cross between a young Christopher Walken and James Spader.

Wow! so glad i checked my emails and caught the last few minutes of this! my absolute favorite modern guitarist hanging out with the Beato! made my day seeing two amazing musicians hanging out together and sharing it. love hearing your influences and who's music inspires you to play.
his story with his dad and country picking is great. i've got a similar experience (but no dad). i was at a little guitar store in small town North Carolina (outside my Marine Base), and i was ripping through Death's Crystal Mountain when this old guy came up with an acoustic and thought what i was playing was really cool. must have been 75 years old. so he sits down and asks me to show him the riff. (and i'm a pretty arrogant, young Marine Megadeth head at the time) i'm like there is no way this old guy's gonna be able to play this on that acoustic. so i show him the riff, and he shreds through this wild bluegrass version of the riff that completely blows my mind, is about twice as many notes, and was completely incomprehensible to me how he did it! it was insane. he definitely did that on purpose! it was probably the classiest thing that happened to me at a guitar store.

Tom has a whimsical bent to his tunes and what I've heard from Elfman and Patton have the same thing. real cool, too, is Mr. Gates mentoring kids. that and keeping the old stuff alive, current, and vital. BTW, when I heard "Hail" I ran out and bought the album. super heavy but kind of understated, I thought- really makes the crescendos jump out. nice mix, great work. kudos. Ü ♥ ♫

Avenged Sevenfold killer version of "Wish you were here", the band caught my attention when I first heard it., much the same way The Claypool Lennon Delirium covered some old Pink floyd and King Crimson. All great stuff
MY only criticism is that Avenged Sevenfold is all over place, too eclectic, but most of us would love that

The eclecticism is what keeps them fresh. Also they can show different sides of each member's influences. They have punk, core, metal, Jazz, and etc. Influences and each album allows them to show that more.

Hi Rick. You should make analysis about Silverchair's Diorama / Young Modern Station album. I'm frustrated coz no one talk about it. It's so underrated. If you like Radiohead's Kid A or Ok Computer, you definitely will like Silverchair's album i've mentioned. Daniel Johns is genius musician. Hope you read my comment.

If Rick is not Syns dad, damn he missed a good opportunity., He's gotta be an uncle or something. The eyes, the shape of the face and features, they're identical

What a nice guy. I mean Rick is pretty well known. But probably not as much as Syn. Especially the youngins. But that's so cool he'd do this. So humble so nice and genuine

while there is no secrets there are certain riffs that are easier (or even stuff u know every note too, stuff youve heard a million times in highschool or whatever) but help you develop those shred techniques. when i first started thunderstruck really helped for my hammer/pulloffs . and now hail to the king is really helping me with those but also adding moving your hand a bit. and also zack wylde solos are great beginner shredder techniques. also i do minor and pentatonic scales every day . no i dea what notes but thyere getting me faster up and down

I checked his school out when it was first launched and his first economy picking video is now my warmup exercise everytime I play. I went through every video and took it all in with a grain of salt, wonderfully helpful.
