I started swimming 3x a week then 5, and now I’m at 7 times a week. Some people were telling me I needed to take a break but I was sure I could swim everyday. Glad to find this video! Some days (not very often uneven swim twice, morning/evening) or do another sport. Swimming has changed my life. I have lost 16 kg (35 lbs), sleep better, stop snoring, and helps me with my mental health :)
I’ve been racing bikes since I was a kid. I’m 46 now. Started swimming due to time constraints and an injury 8 months ago. Went from 67-68kg to 77kg. All upper body and core muscle. Wild.
This is for all of you who want confirmation , I'm in my mid sixties and I swim every day, accept Christmas and Easter because The YMCA IS closed , but nevertheless I can swim for 45 min to an hour , and I also lift weights after my swim , it's a beautiful experience if you can find the discipline to start .
@@L.A.G.- if you meant to get abs about 4-5 months if you meant to swim about 45min. I did those 10min ab workouts each day for abt 2months and I could see my abs but they weren’t as defined as they’re now. Most important thing is consistency. If you’re doing lifts too like dead lift squats they’re all dynamic and if you stay consistent and losing body fat you’ll still get abs. I hope that clears it up 😭
Started swimming again after 40 years from being a very good high school swimming. I do laps more like lengths on the clock. Its very easy on the muscles the next day vs. Lifting.
Years ago I had a spinal injury that wiped me out. Swimming strengthened my core and surrounding muscles to heal. Then in Feb 2017 I had another fall injury. Doctors are doing me absolutely no good. I'm hoping I can repeat healing though my injuries all these years later are worse. My pain level decreases considerably when I am buoyant..What do you think ? I actually know very little about fitness even though I've been physically active my whole life.
These people have too much time on their life, to go work then to swim and then go to the gym and workout and still they manage to get home and make dinner, wow just amazing.
I'm lucky that I got to work remotely so I can swim in the morning, then work, and then do some calisthenics. But if you're busy you can do those in the weekend or in the night after work.
@@morphreynard6764my mom had my brother and I (she made sure we each knew how to swim around the age of two) so when we were kids, she’d go to the local Y around 7pm and swim laps while my brother and I hung out and played in the free swim area. As we got older, we wanted to keep up with mom and swim laps too. That was probably 3 times a week in the evenings we did that. She also worked full time and yes my dad was around, but we wanted to go swim with mom rather than stay home and watch TV with dad or worse, chores lol. So basically if having kids is the hurdle, I can tell you- the best thing you can give your kids is a) an example of discipline with physical activity and b) swimming lessons. We also slept like logs the nights she took us swimming because we’d be zonked by the time we got home.
ur correct. iam 40 and now i feel i can get time to workout. when i was young had difficulty even to get proper diet. U need to be financially gifted to hav even gym time in the teens
If your goal is to build muscle and increase your maximum strength, do your strength session before swimming. If your goal is to improve your swimming performance, swim before strength training!
You can do the same for running. Ran twice a day for 5 of 7 and everyday of the week. Nothing builds cardio like running. My watch lets me know that I'm not doing cardio when biking or swimming at a comparable level because it's hard to do so with so little breaths or when you take breaks on downhills on the bike
@@luammerces2461 they probably wouldn't fully agree with that statement, but I think you generally have a more difficult time getting in cardio (backstroke is the exception) because you'll struggle to get enough oxygen to support that heart rate for that amount of time. For running to max out cardio I take forty breaths a minute and due to gravity force my heart to work harder to circulate blood. For swimming you're probably taking a third to half as many breaths and don't fight gravity. So even if they get in a degree of cardio, it's not comparable to that produced by running is the gist
I swim 1h twice a week and lift 3 times a week as well ☺️ think that is enough. My body need regeneration. And when i lift i takt high weights :D sometimes i go climbing
Definitely agree with this but I find you do need to adjust your swim volume based on your lifting and vice versa From personal exp, I ended up with a minor rotator cuff strain/tear from a few years of regular swim+lifting sessions on the same day.
Ok, but If you lift, do lift first in the day. Much better. And use swimming as recovery later the same day. Swimming is great since you can mix it up, and adjust tempo as needed - and do either just cardio, recovery swim, or if you did not lift, do sprints and high intensity freestyle/butterfly
I swim 3times a week and do a bit calisthenics. At least in my age of 50 I can do 15-20 clean pull-ups without rubber bands and approx 50-75dips. I always do a plan minimum😅
Hello everybody, im about to join the world of swimming. I used to go to the gym 6 times a week and did it for about a year and 3 months, and have already changed my physique. However, I was diagnosed with pressure problems and, therefore, I can't go to the gym anymore. I'm still unsure if swimming is for me, I really want to keep growing my physique and I'm scared of loosing what i've been working hard to get. Any advice and answers to if i'll lose my physique is apreciated (I'm worried about shoulders the most), thanks guys! 😊
Weight training can help you move your body faster and stronger through the water, for example in breastroke when you shoot your arms forward it essentially a chest press against water
I can't lift properly heavy weights four hours later if I've swum. If I do I have to do -30-40% less weights and the feeling sucks. I always have to first lift heavy weight and then some hours later swim.
I'm not a swimmer, but a runner, however after our lift sessions/strength training (it was lighter since we're xctf) we would do our second run. I think it's possible but you just can't jump into it and probably want a base swim level already before doing so
This is not true, you can swim every day and lift weights if you don't do a physical job. If you do a physical job you will struggle, by the way in the morning or afternoon you will likely be at work, in his case that is his work.
I know that rest is a good start, looking at different shoes, I would talk to a PT to see if strengthening the knee would help. If strength is the issue then biking is probably the best course of action, low impact and targets that specific area pretty well
If you wanna get better at swimming, swim. If you wanna build muscle, lift weights. Training specificity is real and telling people they should train a different modality to get better results is straight clickbait BS.

Metoo. Just one week and better sleep, better concentration.
Copilot told me to do 6 days swimming with 1 day break. Now I will stick to my daily swimming!
I swim intensly for 1 hour and 15 minutes twice a week and lift 3x a week and then rest during the weekend and It's fantastic
Got it thanks

Can you please explain how swimming can help with muscle gain ?
This is good information, I shall bring my weights to the public pool this weekend.
I think I am going to do deadlifts underwater.

Too good...Love it...I am only concerned about the exposure to chlorine on a daily basis..
@ramyg5037 I use Vaseline or baby oil as a repellent, so far so good, and this is my thirteen year straight , real rap.
You are my role model. I am doing only 30 minutes swimming daily. Need to add weight training to my weekly program.
@DaddyMi777 Focus as you will ,and continue no matter what.
Hey! I'm going to swim regularly from now in. Can you please elaborate on using this as a chlorine repellent?@@bwoodlandave
I swim every day and do crossfit. Sometimes, I feel pain in my joints. But I feel good altogether.
I swim after pretty much every workout, it's a good cooldown
You mustn't swim very hard then. 😅
I swim 3x a week before I lift. I didn’t have abs before now I do so highly recommend 👍

I run 7x a week and lift/Mobility 7x a week. Great gains. Once your body gets used to it any cardio can be done with lifting
How old are you? just wondering..
#1 Get your base strength up
If a guy is “strong” in the main compounds, they’ll gain more muscle. It’s simple
You can lift every day too my guy, just train different body parts you dont have to train your calves 7x a week
Nah
@@ioanbugheanu6836?
Or lower the intensity if you want to do full body everyday
Unless you're on gear you need a rest day for optimal growth. Overtraining is a thing for naturals.

I play Badminton in the morning and go for a swim after.
Yes I lift 5 times a week and swim times a week. I lift in the evening and after that i swim.
Swimming is rough on the delts
Not really, usually if it hurts after a swim. It’s good to revise your technique, cause you could be doing more harm than good.
Is it better to swim and then left lift? I have been lifting then swimming? Any advise 😊
If your goal is to build muscle and increase your maximum strength, do your strength session before swimming. If your goal is to improve your swimming performance, swim before strength training!
I tried swimming and lifting at the same time, but after 2 weeks of persistently trying to crawl with an 8kg kettlebell in each hand, I gave up.
Try using 20kg dumbells
I swim 3-4 times a week
No weightlifting. Never did any
You're still exercising sincerely, and at the end of the day, that's what matters
Trying to combine swimming and tennis together. Daamn it’s hard!😂😂❤️❤️ but I love both ❤️❤️🔥🔥

What do u mean by pressure problems?
What are the benefits you get by mixing weight training with swimming?
You get ripped out of your damn mind
Weight training can help you move your body faster and stronger through the water, for example in breastroke when you shoot your arms forward it essentially a chest press against water
I lift for 90 mins take an hour break then swim for 90 mins. I do this every Tuesday and Thursday.
Literally could just eat .9 grams of protein per pound of body weight everyday and workout out regularly. I promise you’ll gain some muscle
I dont swim. I just go run in water for cardio😅😅😅

I cannot swim everyday with the practices I go through
In the warmer months, I prefer playing tennis and lift weights. In the cooler months, I prefer swimming and lifting weights.

Yes, it's totally fine.
Swim and elliptical at the gym
Swimming is low impact, but its very demanding cardio and is very physically exhausting, which isnt good to pair with lifting almost every day.
But but but, Rushalls usrpt teachings about specificity is that only swimming will make you swim faster. 😂
If only the chlorine didn’t mess with the hair I’d swim everyday
I am special Olympic swimmer
Swimming is rough on shoulders and elbows
is this true ? i am afraid that swimming will kill my gains.

Yeah I lift 6 days a week. Benefits of lifting is looking like a mass monster and being a beast
Swimming is not unique it's just about load management and intensity
F no bro I can lift everyday but can’t swim everyday ones I swim for next 2 days I have to recover from that it makes my whole body broken down
How? Swimming is so low impact and doesn't even require a massive amount of cardio. I think lifting everyday would be the reason, not the swimming
If you swim like lap after lap definitely that will take a toll
Not in a pool full of chlorine or children
Hell yeah. If only I have the superpower of free time to lift & swim every week
Why not? What keeps you from swimming or lifting? Try early morning or late night schedule if it fits in
You wrong
so close! it’s unhealthy to wash hr hair everyday

Yes, but spending some time in the gym is a good supplement to just about any sport. Helps reduce risk of injury and improves power.

Cons for swimming every day: the chlorine might burn your skin
I’ve never been burned by chlorine in a pool, I’ve swam consistently for 3 years competitively and never heard of such a thing from anyone.

You can lift 7 days a week as well bud.
