Excellent reviews and feedback! I traded comments with you a few months ago regarding recommendations for a 4+ hour marathoner and you recommended the Hoka Cielo X1. I took your advice and ran NYC Marathon in November (only my 2nd marathon) in that shoe and could not have been happier with the shoe choice (my only other marathon was NYC in 2023). Felt comfortable and confident the entire marathon. Your common sense reviews of shoes for both slower and faster runners is excellent, keep up the awesome work!!
I had a similar situation. My race shoe Puma arrived 2 days before race day and my big 10k pb attempt. It was post run so I went back out literally did 3 sets of strides in them then took them to race day. Came away with a 6 minute PB crossing the line at 46.12
Love the shoutout to Jared with the Puma Deviate Elite 3. I actually sold him that shoe on the supwell app and told him to go for it as well! :) It really is a great race shoe.
I ran my first 2 marathons in the Kinvarra 8’s 😂, bought in 2017 for $110! it’s so true that we don’t need these carbon plated racers. That said, my latest marathon was run in the Deviate Elite 3 and wow what a better experience I had, and a faster recovery! Not to mention a big ol’ PR!
I ran my first marathon this year in the Hoka Cielo X1! Zero running ever to full marathon in 5 months. Finished in 5:23. Shoe was legendarily fantastic. Have about 80 miles on it now and still feels like day 1 (and zero foam or tread wear). Absolutely the people’s shoe.
Zero running ever? So did you fly all your life?? Haha just kidding. Wish I could train 5 months and do a marathon.... Just started 3-4 months and I can barely do 10k 😂😂
I haven't even finished running in my other shoes because of my Puma Velocity Nitro 3. It feels so good. And I got it when it was on sale too. Man, if y'all on Subwell app you already know how I feel about this shoe. I loooove that rocker too and I run on the balls of my feet, too. Shoot, I'm definitely getting another pair, too.
I wore the Endorphin Elite for my PR at Chicago ‘23, but I’m going Demon Time AF3 for Houston in 3 weeks. Totally understand about the disappear-on-your-feet VS the thinking-about-the-shoe feeling. For me, the Endorphin Elite disappears and I just run fast. The AlphaFly 3 doesn’t, but what I’m thinking about is the pop forward I get, so I’m going to frame that as positive feedback instead of distraction. I’m eager to see you put in some work in the Endorphin Elite 2 next year (among others)!
Literally every single one of these shoes is sold out in Australia in mainstream sizes 10.5, 11 and most others. I did see a heavier set guy running 6:30/km in Alphaflies this morning though.
Go for Adidas Pro 3/4! 85 kg is just as heavy as me, and I ran both Frankfurt & Malaga in Pro3, 3:17 & 3:19. So on a good to normal day sub 3:30 ought to be "no problem"!
Puma for me, i did a 10 mile in it, my legs just fine and i just started running back from 77kg to now 64kg, and i can say if you heavy or not this shoe is just all rounder for everyone
I did a 19 miles this past Wednesday on the pro 4 . 9 :30 average pace and I weight 170 show and heavy the first 10 were easy . Also the pro is very light and comfortable shoe
Picked up the flaming alphafly 3 yesterday. Looks great, literally fire 🔥. Did first shake out 10k in it today. Very fast. May give it a full send next week at parkrun. Still maybe for me initially would still take adidas prime x strung 1 for marathon over this but that may change after a few runs.
Did you try to say the name of my Norwegian runner hero: Jakob Ingebrigtsen?!😂 You have a looooong way until you pass that test😂. But kudos for remembering that he's Very sponsored by Nike😁. Personally I will continue with Adidas & Asics. The VF3 caused me pain at 28K in this years Stockholm marathon. Ran a sub 3:30 4 weeks later in Novablast 4, and then Frankfurt & Malaga (sub 3:20) in Adidas Pro 3.
Just make sure that if you ever use it, and you have Honey installed (which I would highly recommend you uninstall), absolutely do not click on anything related to Honey because they'll steal the commission from Yowana
Great review. I currently own two pairs of Endorphin Pro 3’s (got them on sale for the lowwww), and I said to myself I wouldn’t purchase another race shoe until I complete my first marathon, but those Nitro Elite 3’s look too clean. With that being said, I’m aiming for a cool 4:30. I’ve tested the EP3 on a long run of 14 miles and I felt pretty comfortable the entire run. Would the EP3 suffice for a first marathon or is there better tech out now?
Endorphin pro 3 is still great for a first marathon and the tech definitely isn't outdated. Same race foam and carbon fiber plate setup as a lot of the newer shoes on this list - also I used the endorphin pro 3 for my first marathon!
Yes, get your miles, even if it's one. On my work days, I just run the 1/2 mile each way from the parking structure. At other times in my life, I just made sure to go home and shoot baskets for at least 1/2 hour after work.
Great video. Is the Deviate Nitro Elite 3 more bouncy than the Rocket X 2? As bouncy as the Mach X 2? Personally, I find the Mach X 2 more fun than the Rocket X 2.
Agree on the g wagon comp for the alphafly...haven't bought a pair for that exact reason. It is kind of dumb and I flip flop on it but yeah I just can't bring myself to buy it (yet).
Not sure if it’s something anyone else would care about or you’d even care to do but I’d be interested in a best walking shoes of 2024 like you recommended ghost max last year and it changed my life lmao
@@dannydevito2587 for this year i swear New Balance Balos should be on the list, idk why but i wore them everytime i go out and the softness is just on another level 😍
Was the Nike really second place for your Chicago decision, not the On? I thought you were close to wearing On in the race, but it was low on this list. I also remember you saying the Puma was below those top 3, but it ranks above the On here.
@@MsPietpaaltjes real runners know what they’re comfortable to use, but maybe not others, every aspect of feet/weight/bones etc are not the same for everyone, but i respect you can use af n vf well, cuz i used it too and yeah its just so good but DNE3 was the best for me
Nothing stops the the Grand Master Hobby Jogger from bringing the daily podcast. PDNE 3 and Hoka Rocket X 2 favorite 2024 race shoes. Last 3 HM of 2024 On Cloudboom Strike also set my HM PB in the On
He always says vegan but eats honey. No milk products though. Close to vegan, and I have to say a lot of people who identify as vegan are much further from it than him.
Ready for that episode focusing on puma. Love their race shoe for my fall marathon.

The mystery of the street filming is finally revealed! I absolutely get it!😁
Another banger man. A list for beginner/novice runners trying out their first marathons would be great too!

I’m working for a 3:15 marathon in May! I have a 40% coupon comin my way in a month or so so I definitely have my eyes on the Alphaflys

Agreed... The carbon plate also surprisingly allowed a faster recovery.

Ran so much over break so much easier than when I am working to get out there. Used superblast 2 for me a valid do it all shoe
Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 3 is an incredible shoe! Unreal for fast paced long runs
