    I've been subbed for like 2 moths now and lemme just say your tips basically saved my routine. If anyone here is new, important lessons I got from this channel:
    - more often than not, the products you have are ENOUGH. You don't need 3000 oils or creams or anything like that, most generally do more or less the same thing so save your money and stick to what works than chasing what's popular these days.
    - One thing you do need is consistency and just not neglecting your hair, moisturising every like 2/3 weeks basically brought my hair back to life(ironic since it's dead cells lol but you get me).
    - lastly, finger detangling. Good lord lordddd I cannot tell you how amazing it is to ACTUALLY know what your hair is doing, whether or not it likes a product etc because you can FEEL IT. I literally stopped using combs and this tip combined with the other 2 has dramatically reduced my breakage. I will get such litte breakage when I wash my hair that I'll think I'm not doing sth right, but really that's just my hair thanking me for a job well done.
    Sorry for the super long comment lol, I just love this channel.❤

      Wish I could finger detangling but everything else was spot on💕I finger detangled for a year straight and my hair fell out and broke off like crazy. I had to go to a stylist and told her what I was doing and she had to chop of a good 6-inches off, never again. She told me everyone’s hair doesn’t take well to just finger detangling🥺and she had been natural for 11 years. She told me to switch to the Felicia leatherwood brush, or anything similar (since combs can be bad or good depending on the persons hair. I haven’t used combs in YEARS) and my hair finally started to grown back again & retain its length.

    Honestly it’s probably a good thing that you used the Aussie moist shampoo because it has sulfates in it and hair needs to be clarified after a protective style. I noticed that if I use a clarifying shampoo when I wash my hair it helps my hair receive moisture better. My hair is also low porosity so that plays a part. Love the video!💕

    To those of you in relationships, how do you deal with waiting long periods to wash your hair? I ask bc when I was in a ‘ship I would get kind of self conscious about my hair being dirty, or not smelling good, or my scalp being dirty when my bf would want to rub my scalp or want to cuddle.
    Right now I’m single and can wash my hair whenever I want but it just appeared to me that I was always wanting my hair to smell good and feel clean when I was in a ‘ship.
    I mean I know most ppl will say “if he loves you he will understand” but cmon now 😂😂 its like would you want dirty hair in YOUR face when you’re cuddling??!!

    • @sart1348
      @sart1348 2 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      You are right to be concerned by this. Scalp (and hair) will start to smell the longer you do not wash it. Dust and debris (indoor and outdoor), mixed in with sebum, sweat and build up of product is on unwashed hair. In addition to smells (from cooking, smoke... even things like incense) Most ppl will not say anything but they will think it.
      I am a performer and have had ppl outside of our culture come to me asking me what to do because a black colleagues hair smelled.
      If you prioritize a healthy, clean scalp (and hair) that smells good and does not have build up wash your hair weekly, ESP IF YOU WORK OUT AT ALL.

    • @giftd18
      @giftd18 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@sart1348 haha wow I can’t believe your colleagues put you in that weird situation. And yes I definitely need to wash more than normal by default bc i sweat IN my scalp ESPECIALLY in the summer 😩. More of a reason I love the autumn coolness.
      I’m surprised that no one really talks about pH of our scalp. Bc I’m weird and abnormal (haha) I think waiting long periods to wash the scalp will harbor an unbalanced pH and also fungus. A shampoo that balances pH is good bc I think of it like a “reset” to the hair and scalp.
      When I used to workout heavy, I wore my hair in protective styles and couldn’t go more than 3 days without washing my hair.. it would just trap in all the dirt and sweat and start to smell, so yes I definitely agree with you on washing your hair more when you are actively sweating!

      Girl, your life is same as my life. Hair is intimate, men love smelling women’s hair because it smells good. I also do hard core workouts, so hair sweat! I literally cut of all my hair over a year ago and just wear wigs instead. My first natural hair journey attempt , I reached a healthy shoulder length. Then I found it too hard lol
      I’m giving this hair challenge another go. Like you I’m single right now, so best time to experiment with my hair smell. I learnt a long time ago , not to have braids in my hair, extensions add tension to hair and hard to routinely wash. My go to Protective styling is cornrows or African threading, I’ve had to learn. Now I’m learning how to use needle and yarn instead of cornrows. When I’m at home, my wig is off. I make sure my wigs smell really good. I use expensive scented products for that nice hair smell. I have seperate work out wigs. After workout, I just rinse my protective styled hair under running water, no need to touch the hair, every other day, I spray very heavily diluted nice smelling shampoo, stand under running water till I’m sure all has been wash off, then follow that up with heavily diluted apple cider vinegar. After this, follow your hair routine. Each day I swap the oil for my LOC. I use minimum oil, and minimum leave in, sometimes diluted leave in as a spray .
      I’m still experimenting. Let it air dry, then , I spritz my hair with pre made rosemary water, I’m trying out adding cloves & ginger to the water right now. (Adding nutrients to my hair), just like a mist, rub in my peppermint essential oil. Cover my hair with a plastic cap for 30 mins to force nutrients in, remove cap, let it air dry. Just before it’s fully dry, silk head band on my edges. It lays them down nice.
      My hair smells nice ! If I don’t work out, I skip above process, 3rd day you have to do this again.
      Every seven days in the protective style , I do hot oil treatment ;use all the smelly oils you want that are good for your hair because you are going to wash the oil off) then deep condition. Buy a cheap face steamer from Amazon, steam the deep conditioner into your hair.
      Notice all of the above don’t require much manipulation. I’m working on wash day every 21 days. On wash day, give my hair all its love (hit oil , protein treatment, deep conditioner, blow dry it to stretch it and protective style again. )
      I even bought a very expensive hairdryer to ensure I don’t have heat damage.
      As a result, my hair is in protective styling, not neglected, smells amazing and flourishing, healthy scalp !
      Also I use my massage gun to massage my scalp very often. I try to massage my scalp in the morning, or afternoon, assist the natural scalp oils to move around and help with circulation.
      My hair is 4c, it needs to be long before I can walk around with just my hair out. So I’m aiming for bra length lol

      In the summer? How would one exercise rigorously? Our climate here is mostly in the 90s and highly humid. Also, my hair has never tolerated oils very well, and grease is out of the question, though in winter I may use a bit of organic coconut oil. I wash my hair at least twice a week, daily when I had a relaxer. Otherwise I developed severe itching and scalp cysts, and plugs of oil fell from my scalp.

    Maybe the Aussie shampoo stripped the hair so much that the conditioner was able to penetrate better. I compared and I get better results from my deep conditioner if I use a squeaky clean shampoo compared to a moisturizing shampoo.

    • @dumfriesspearhead7398
      @dumfriesspearhead7398 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I've just discovered this! I used to wash my hair with a moisturising shampoo, which seemed okay, but then I switched to one which made me hair squeaky clean, which at first was initially offputting. However, the conditioner, leave in and styling butter penetrated so much more deeply. It's made a huge difference.
