    Omgggg my hair thrives WAY better in steaming hot water too. I was confused at first when I would use cool water like a lot of naturals insist on doing but like you said, my hair felt stiff with cool water. In steaming hot water it feels softer, healthier and way more manageable. Plus the products just absorb better and rinse out easier that way. Thank you for saying that because I thought it was only me lol

    I was watching your videos and realized something. I wash my hair about once a month and only use a paddle brush on wash day to detangle. I wash my kids hair every two month sometimes longer….my daughter is tailbone length and my son is almost tailbone. I only use a paddle brush on their hair during wash day. I moisturize and re braid their hair twice a week and only finger detangle. So I’ve come to the conclusion that finger detangling is my best bet to retain more length. I’m mid back at the moment. Thank you for showing simple regimens work and that grease isn’t our enemy!

    You have beautiful hair. I have high porosity hair as well. It is sometimes referred to as spongy hair. Not too many people admit to having high porosity hair. It seems that a lot of people have low porosity. I wash my hair in warm to hot water because it helps the product to work to soften my hair; but I find that rinsing it in cool, not cold, water, seals in the moisure, and my hair feels so soft and smooth that way.

    Thanks again for another great video! I like the simplicity of your wash day as others said. I also like that you use grease on your hair to seal in moisture. Most naturals think grease is the devil. Lol. Grease isn’t for everyone but for some it works great! My hair drinks up regular oils & my hair is back to feeling dry. Grease holds that moisture in for me. You looked great in the pic of you being out enjoying yourself.

My coils don't seem to be any different with warm water than with cool, but I have normal porosity maybe that has something to do with it. For me, the only time I spray water on non-wash day is to remoisturtize, detangled and rebraid. I notice a huge difference since I switched from twist to braids as a protective style. Thanks!

    water isn't technically a moisturiser, it just hydrates the hair. when your hair dries it feels coarse aka 'dry' because there is no butters oils or creams (aka actual moisturiser) to actually moisturise the hair. type 4 hair doesn't have sebum travel down the hair as fast so thats why you need the butters n oils. Anyways love your content, some good stuffs :)

    • @katesmith4991
      @katesmith4991 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Water hydrates aka provides moisture, oil traps the hydration but doesn’t provide moisture itself. Both are important

    • @helloartie866

      🚩 Wrong. Water is the only moisturizer. Oils and butters are sealants to keep the moisturizers (water) in.

      My hair is high porosity (4B … a little longer than arm-pit length, but not yet bra-strap length), and I’ve been doing a light protein treatment every two weeks: I love what it’s done for my hair! Super shiny, and definitely stronger than when I was doing protein at all, much less shedding. I’ve found that “Pattern” brand (Tracee Ellis Ross) treatment mask works fantastic for me: It’s not too extreme like you’d get with Aphogee (which I used to use when I was relaxed), so u can use as often as needed; after the mask, I condition my hair w Pattern Medium conditioner - makes it so soft. I highly recommend.

    Hello, how are you doing? I absolutely love your videos. I have a question. After braiding your hair, will you do a video about how you tie your braids up at night. The problem that I am running into is that my braids are straight and beautiful until I put them up at night. The next day, they are all bent/twisted and ugly looking. Is there a way to put the braids up at night so that they are still long and straight the next day? I understand the shrinkage but all that other bent/twisted/ugly stuff is ridiculous. You and I have almost the same length (mine may be a little bit shorter. Mine may be a tad bit thinner as well). If you have already done a video on this, please send me the link. Thanks, Happy Holidays, and greetings from Oklahoma.

    For A guy growing his hair for cornrows and braids do you wash and condition Everytime you rebraid your hair for natural hair? And what are good ways too keep your hair moisturized and condition for cornrows or braids..?

      You should wash your hair only when it gets dirty and or smelly or itchy.
      Shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner or leave in conditioner, then seal with grease or oil (if your hair is kinky use grease, if your hair is curly use oil). That’s it!

      I wash and condition my hair every 1-2 months. But I’d suggest washing and conditioning at least every 1-3 weeks if your hair prone to build up. I rebraid/remoisturize my hair in between my wash days like 2-3 times. Good ways to keep your hair moisturized is by simply remoisturizing your hair while it’s in protective styles and using products that are for your hair porosity and density. (Thin hair typically likes lightweight products and thick hair typically likes heavier products)

    I just discovered your channel. I have to say I love it. I just have one question. So I’ve been natural pretty much all my life. I’m very active in terms of working out. I train about 6x a week. So I wear alot of Marley twist and box braids. What is your suggestion on moisturizing my hair while in Marley twist or box braids? Should I moisturize the twisting hair or what do you think?

    Hey girl, I’ve been using the Hello Hydration conditioner as well and wanted to know if you have any issues with buildup because of the silicone in it. Do you need to use a sulfate conditioner every once in a while?

    Can you deep condition with the twists still in? I have shorter hair which is a hassle to take down then re twist, that’ll save me a bunch of time

    When you remoisturize your hair are you going to take down the braids and redo them? Do you add water when you remoisturize?

    • @NaturalAcademia
      @NaturalAcademia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      No, I don’t add water; and yes, I take each braid down one by one to re-moisturize
