I probably won't be making an actually midi accurate chart (or even one with more spam), alongside the fact that it's not really fun (notespam is only quirky for so long and gets old fast lol), but alongside that I doubt moonscraper would be very happy with me for putting down 6.28 million notes :P

The reason why cpu goes up when there is sustains, isn't because there are sustains. On the parts of the song that are more calm, less of your gpu Is being used to render notes, so there will be higher cpu usage. As soon as there's a ton of notes on screen, your gpu has to render that, meaning that more of your gpu is being used over your cpu, so your cpu usage will drop. Unless there are any oddities in this game, higher CPU usage = less gpu usage, and vice versa

thats what is done in black midis to create lag.
that makes sense because computers are more used to repeated actions as opposed to drawn out actions.

if I were to guess, the sustains increasing the CPU usage is probably because it's trying to determine where the whammy bar is and use the correct animation state

CPU usage goes up during sustains because it processes more frames when there's less notes on the chart. When the number of notes on the chart goes up, the frames go down, and the processor doesn't have to work as hard to process the frames.

I think the reason sustains take more cpu is because they still have to be tracked after they pass the detectors, or because they have to be checked on every frame to see if the button was pressed as opposed to just a single time.
Anyways, you should see if you can get an auto-strummer on the whammy bar so the farther you push it, the faster it strums. That might make it possible to really do well on the song, but would still be difficult

Cpu usage tends to go down when the black midi parts are present because it can't push as high of a frame rate. The one doing the work is the gpu.
