There is a cutscene before and after the fight, but the fight takes place in open gameplay with no scripted events
Damn... Well, assuming that the Invincibility Star was a useable item, and that DK doesn't have an instant kill undodgeable attack, then it'll be close. Infinity Star is free damage for Bruno, but DK can two-shot him with normal attacks and one-shot him with a special. It just comes down to skill, like Punch Out.
