I will pray for you. I'm not much younger, but still reasonably healthy and still work full-time despite osteoarthritis in my feet and right hip and lifelong Crohn's Disease.
the hemorrhages alone must have looked horrific even if this woman was a physically healthy 73 year old. she must have been black and blue all over. old people's skin is a lot less tough, their bones are more brittle, and everything takes much longer to heal. lots of old people die from just falling over - nevermind being tackled, because who the hell tackles elderly people?
First of all, the Walmart employees saw her leaving and walked her back in with the products in hand. Once she realized what she did, she offered to pay them because she had money on her. They didn't let her and still called the cops on her for $13 worth of merchandise. Priorities are all messed up in this country.

Police frequently treat people with mental health issues this way. That’s why I will never call police if I or anyone I know is having an issue. This country needs a better way to handle mental health issues.
Very wise. The cops are the last people you want around a person going through a mental health crisis. The most likely result of bringing a cop into such a scenario is that the officer shoots and kills the individual even though they lacked justification. There are tons of instances like this already reported.

He told the guy who questioned him that she “attacked him”. Like when dude? Man this makes my blood boil.
My grandfather had Alzheimer’s disease so this is especially infuriating to me
They use that old cop trick with painful holds to get a knee jerk reaction or put you off balance to where a person automatically moves to stay on balance. OLD TRICKS!
She didn’t submit, that’s violent resistance to police
There is a video of these officers laughing at the station while watching the body cams.
"I'm going home!" Her pleas brought tears to my eyes.
You're not alone. Only a sadist would throw a 73 year old woman to the ground and put her in handcuffs.
This is just ridiculous
@@larryfoster8820 I'm 75 years old and was once a licensed Federal Law Enforcement officer. I have pretty much supported police and the concept of "law and order" most of my life, but modern policing has become militarized, brutal, and heartless, and I cannot support it any longer.

He took a very dangerous risk.

That just pisses me off .

Disgusting: Another quality that makes America so appealing and the envy of the world.
He sounds like he's in worse shape than the old lady.
According to another channel, he saperated her shoulder, broke her arm, and strained her wrist. This kind of abuse needs to end!

after he did this he took her back to walmart??? not medical attention. that makes this whole debacle even worse. is it correct she has someone suing on her behalf. was she in a nursing home or living with someone at her own home?

what's even worse is how he was scolding the lady during the intervals he was trying to catch his breathe.
I’m sure he would’ve murdered someone other than a frail old woman.
He would have used his gun!!! Probably shoot the person citing resisting arrest and he feared for his life! Hey TYT are you approaching the policy makers yet! Do you have a campaign set up?
This is so gross. It is upsetting. The fact that it is all over $13.88 from Walmart is just crazy.
Even without her condition, you do not treat an old person like this. Must be bragging to his colleagues how he beat up an old lady!! This policeman should be jailed!!
Guy stole $150 worth of items off my porch I have video of him and his vehicle. I posted it on nextdoor found out the man lives less then a mile from me. I drive to the location there is the vehicle. I call the police they tell me to go home I call them again tell me a detective will return my call. I call several times and I'm told they don't have time to investigate someone who stole $150 in packages even with video evidence. Yet Walmart seems to get tax payer funded police to chase down old woman who attempts to walk out of the store with $13.88 of merchandise. I live in England and was looking after my father until Christmas who has been suffering with Alzheimer’s. He was in denial when he was diagnosed. On a couple of occasions, the police brought my father home. They made me feel guilty, but treated my father with compassion. This footage is horrific, the cops are clearly ignorant to the fact. It had me in tears throughout. The saddest thing is that this generation was told as a children to respect his elders. You should be seen and not heard. To adhere to this and when it is their time, they are treated like this. It is just criminal.
I am canadian and thank goodness police here tend to be way mor compassionate this is america for you this country is a nightmare my grandma had dementia she passed away a few years ago this make me sick to my stomach hope your dad is doing well stay safe and take care
So proud to say this would not happen here, I live in England too. The police here grade offences, here shoplifting is at the bottom of the offence ladder, so there is no way they would have arrested her. As soon as she said she was going home, they would have taken her home. My Mum had demtia too, but we made sure someone was with her at all times, it was so difficult, because she hated it, but we had to keep her safe. This video is so distressing.
My mom had dementia, and fell, hit her head in the middle of the night, got a subdural hematoma and died the next morning. She was 73. This shit makes my blood boil. It is very sad.
They should not be dealing with non violent people ever. This is a failure of training and basic human empathy.
The police are acting and trained exactly how they are supposed to the system of policing is operating as intended their is no failure unfortunately that's the scary thing the reason these things keep happening is because the cops are behaving as intended don't get twisted.
any normal cop from a normal country could have handled this situation properly. cops elsewhere care at least enough about protecting and serving that what they would have seen was a senile old woman walking dangerously close to traffic who needed help paying for her stuff and a ride home.
Who said they were human?
@@Ass_of_Amalek Because cops in other countries are taught de-escalation tactics, to be part of the community, and some countries even require a 3 year degree to be a cop. In US, it's a few months training and off you go harassing people.
Most cops in my country don't even carry a pistol (Then again, we don't have shootings every day).
This is part of what Defunding the cops is about 👍🏼
Y'all know the sad part is that if it wasn't on video she wouldn't even remember any of this. Hell she still won't remember this. All she know is pain.
The little good that can be found here is that America needs to know that there is more than just the rampant racism we have to deal with in this country, and that with all the tragic police treatment of people of color, that the problem is even more than that. Since most of the time the victim is black, this fact gets easily forgotten. The cases of white people being abused in this manner need to be entered into the collective awareness. If we somehow cured racism, we still have a nation of fascist police.
No justice, no peace. ONE LOVE.
And there is probably hundreds of cases like this that has not been recoded or not leaked out yet.
But we know and we know this could happen to us
The cop would have forgotten about it too..because he would have gotten away with it.
It likely snowballed her into a complex of people mistrust. It would have been men only but a female cop got involved.
I'm really glad Venk brought up that the language is the same as an abuser in a relationship. It totally is.
For that person to communicate such concern to stop and speak to the officer it must have looked very serious in real time. Thank God fo that bystander! Thank You Sir.
This literally makes me sick to my stomach. My 79 yo mother and 89 yo aunt both have dementia and I can't even imagine either of them being treated this way. My aunt is currently in the hospital and when I visited her yesterday she kept saying that she wants to go home, not the nursing home, her actual home. This poor lady had no idea what was happening to her but she knew if she could get home she would be safe. Both of those cops are disgusting individuals.
But the bystander, he's such a brave man with so much kindness. Much respect for him standing up for what's right even when it could have been dangerous for him to do so. He's truly a hero.
Even if she looked well, and wasn't elderly, why didn't he at least begin with a conversation? Why did he take her phone out of her hand and toss it on the ground?
Great question! He didn't want to be recorded or for her to call for help!

the entire system does this
You could even hear the poor woman's hearing aid squealing. When hyperextended her shoulder joint when she was bent over the car and she said "Ow!" is when he dislocated her shoulder. So, Walmart stopped her and retrieved their $14 worth of items and then refused to let her pay when she offered. Technically she did not steal anything. Please tell me why this cop felt the need to stop this little old lady and abuse her the way he did along with the other officer that arrived on the scene? Karma is a wicked mistress. Any even remotely decent lawyer could easily say that her dementia means that she could not have formed the mens rea (criminal mind or intent) to perform the shoplifting act in the first place.
