Well done! I honestly learned two new details about room acoustics when I really want to work with sound. And I felt as I was with you guys in this room. Nice catch, nice atmosphere!
Mr Neumann , the world needs your company to design and bring to market a new modern design of the disappearing but much needed Neumann VMS . A modern vinyl mastering system that can cut acrylic masters with the same or better precision than the VMS of yesteryear is just what is needed in modern music. Perhaps with the power of technology, CNC ,for a lathe , or perhaps a new direction via 3d printing . Anything that can allow records to be cut by smaller record companies. In that spirit the device should cost between $10,000.00 and 50,000.00 USD that way it is within the reach of small business owners. If Abby Road’s Geoff Pesche reports he cuts as many records per week now as in the 1980s . I of course don’t think that means the volume is the same, but it’s enough to keep them this busy, means of production opening up for small businesses and engineers. Beyond the business sense, this is something the world needs, we don’t want vinyl to fade away. It’s a not like a flash drive , a phone memory or SD card . It’s craft work. It’s culture, art, and emotion, etched into physical form.
Hi! Which would you recommend in a small room - the KH80 or KH120A/II? Also -if the 120’s are better, are the 120A’s worth buying in 2024 or should I consider only the 120 II’s?
My first studio monitors were from Tannoy. I'm very disappointed with them because they're not very detailed. I'm looking for the most detailed speakers. Do they have these qualities in them?
Hi there! We used the KH 80s in this case because they were the only monitors with a DSP core at that time. This video is quite old now. Check out the KH 120 II and KH 150 - both of them have DSP as well now.

Hi Alex, Neumann.Control is available for iPad on the App Store now. We will inform you, as soon as Neumann.Control is available on additional platforms and devices. Have a nice week!
man i love my neumann kh120A. as a good sub i'd recommend the adam sub7. the neumann sub was a bit expensive for me, BUT you can give them a chance without a sub. for the sub added a nice bottom layer though
Hi Oliver, the Low mid control setting is to adopt the monitor to its direct acoustical environment which leads to more or less loading in this frequency range. Since the monitors are a bit away from the desk best option would probably be in free standing position. But there is also the loading from the wall behind and the natural acoustical behavior of the room itself. So both of these geometries lead to a slight increase of the low mids which could nicely be compensated with the EQ settings on the back. Of course Andrew listened to the result after the setup and could confirm that this setting was correct for this setup. In general you should aways verify the control settings either by measuring the system or listening to well known recordings after choosing a setting.
Hi, The KH 80s are placed on stands but close to a acoustically significant loading created by the desk in front of them. That leads to an increased level in the low mid region which should be reduced to achieve a neutral frequency response. If set to medium desk the correction measure corrects just this frequency area.
Looks nice, maybe I’ll get one for my home. When will the Neumann control app will be available? Needs a measurement mic? And where is part 2 of this video?
Neumann.Control is currently in testing. Please see website for release date of Neumann.Control. Video part 2 will follow. For now, the KH 80 DSP is an excellent stand-alone product and can be used just like any other analog loudspeaker: position it, plug it in, switch it on, adjust the backpanel switches as needed and enjoy.
The Precision Alignment Kit (PAK 1) will consist of a network connected interface and a measurement microphone. It will be launched later in 2018 together with Neumann.Control support. The first release of Neumann.Control will include Manual Alignment, for those with their own measurement system, and Guided Alignment, for those without. Guided Alignment asks some simple questions and sets appropriate filters for you. With Manual Alignment you get access to the 8-band fully parametric equaliser but you are on your own using that!
@@GeorgNeumannGmbH Hello there. Do you still have plans of releasing the PAK1 at some point or you have ditched the whole concept? In addition are there any plans of the Neumann App to be available in other devices as well apart from an ipad? A KH80 owner. Cheers.

Hi. Trying to decide which to buy..the KH 80 DSP or the KH 120. The KH 80 make more sense for the size of my room, the flexibility of possible tweaking and financially. But... I prefer to record and mix at 96kHz.. whereas the on board dsp of the KH80's is 48kHz.. so this means I am listening and mixing at 48kHz?
Hi Stephen, You can record at 96 kHz as normal. You then need to connect using analogue connections as the input is analogue. What happens inside the loudspeaker done for the benefit of the loudspeaker. Yes it is 48 kHz signal processing but, for a few reasons, that is actually better than 96 kHz! What matters the most is that you can hear all the audible frequencies present in the signal, and for that 48 kHz is way more than enough.
