Have a 2009 ezgo rxv 48 volt with 4 12 volt batteries 6 months old. Got a HTRG P3648 charger with it and already had the same charger that is 7 weeks old. Thank ya'll for the RXV video. I replaced the crumbling motor brake last year on my 2009 and it had been doing fine. Today it stopped moving, or barely moves a few inches. I removed and double checked the brake, all good. I spun the hub and could see the motor turning. I re-installed the brake, put the cart on blocks and pushed the pedal. I could hear something turning in the motor but wheels didn't spin. Long story short, would you recommend replacing the encoder next?

I have a 2014 RXV. I bought 4 new 12v Trojan batteries. They went completely dead. I charged them and they show full charged but the golf cart has not run since then. I have replaced the curtis controller with a navitas but still can't get power to the navitas to set it up. I have also replace the solenoid. Still nothing.
2008 RXV Danaher Controller: When I turn the key on and to reverse, the solenoid just clicks but won't move, if I move it to forward, same thing. I replaced the solenoid, but didn't resolve the issue. I connect the charging cable, then turn the key, it will go into gear and I can move the cart. Also, I've lost almost all the speed of my cart, over the last 8 months, it's gotten progressively slower, now, the slightest incline and it crawls, literally 1-2 mph. If I start out on a decline, like my drive way when I pull it out of the garage, 120' long, I can get up to 7-9mph by the time I hit the street and 12-13 mph by mid-block. Flat surface it will start out slow, but will eventually get up to 12mph... Last issue, if I slam on the breaks, and then let go of them, the cart will continue to stop aggressively, comes to a complete stop and I have to turn the key off, then back on for it to release. I purchased two new accelerator sensors (part# 600019), for the pedal and brake, I was told by my local EZGO shop their the same part for both pedals. I haven't replaced them yet. I was starting to think it was the encoder bearing (part#612595), but then I ran across your TH-cam post and thought I'd ask y'all before I spend $200 on a bearing. I also ran across a speed sensor (part#614252), but I'm wondering if the shop I talked to gave me the wrong part number, this 614252 part looks like it's the speed sensor they changed to that you an access from outside the motor, or may I have both, maybe you can provide some insight. I appreciate any help you can provide... One last thing, I purchased a new Navitas 600a Controller, but the instructions told me if I had any issues going on with the cart, I should address those prior to installing the new controller. Seems kind of odd though, especially if the controller has a diagnostic feature, which should help me pinpoint the issue, yes? Damn controller isn't cheap, I didn't want to chance it, I can't afford another if something to void the warranty.. Thoughts? I did watch another TH-camr with similar issues install the controller thinking it would fix the issue, it did not, then he replaced the bearing encoder and that fixed the problem. However, he did not show the controller diagnosing the issue, or maybe he didn't know it could do that. Not really sure how to proceed. Again, thanks in advance for any help!!
Good news is you're getting away from that Danaher. These carts have many issues and sounds like you have done your homework. It is acting like the encoder?? But it could be the sensors etc... and at the end of the day could also be that controller causing all these? Being you already have the NAVITAS I'd put that on first. If the others are causing a problem it will tell you through their app. Feel free to give us a call at any time. 276.632.8905
@@cartsmarttv Thanks for your input. I ended up changing the Bearing Encoder, but that didn't fix the issue. I also replaced both switches and sensors for the brake/accelerator pedals, but that too didn't resolve the issue. I installed the Navitas controller and took it for a test drive last night, I was able to get down the driveway and into the street, but the cart would surge when pressing the accelerator and speed wouldn't go above 5-7mph. I connected my phone to the controller and it's saying the Solenoid was stuck in the open position. The cart won't move now. Prior to doing all this, about 6 months ago, I replaced the solenoid because the old one would just click when I turned the key on, I won't go into that since I mentioned it above, but the solenoid I replaced was a 36v on a 48v cart, I thought that was odd, so I got a 48 volt Solenoid for it, but after talking to the local (not really local) EZGO dealer, they said that was normal for 48v carts to have a 36v solenoid. So, maybe I need to go back to the 36v, what are your thoughts on that? Seems weird to me. As for the cart not moving now, I watched a TH-cam video saying I should do the firmware update first; maybe I need to run through and make sure all settings are correct before doing anything else. I just assumed I could install the controller and hit the road. Maybe I'm wrong. You are correct, I've done as much studying that I can, watched hundreds of TH-cam videos, for my cart and others just in case I ran across someone who really had good knowledge. I just want this damn thing to run like it did when I bought it... It takes a LOT for me to get frustrated, but I feel like I'm starting to get there with these problems... LOL - Again, I appreciate your input, I'm sure you have more knowledge than me with this Navitas controller, so I'm interested to see your next response. Your help is greatly appreciated. Don't be surprised if you get a call from me tomorrow... 🙂
I have an RXV 2010. We put it away for the winter and in the spring it wouldn’t start, thought it was the batteries cuz it wouldn’t take a charge, but we can’t even put it in tow mode to move it at all. All the tires are locked up and we can’t even get it out of the shed to properly work on the golf cart. Any tips or thoughts?
My husband works for golf car pros and he said that when a golf cart sits for a while the batteries die and it won't even go on tow mode and the charger won't even kick on you would have to jump charge it but there is one way you can lift up the panel under the tow and run switch there you can jump the cart there's gunna be 4 plugs and there numbers one gose with 2 and 3 gose to 4 it you put 1 with 3 the cart will unlock

I have a 2008+ RXV Electric that I acquired as a non-runner. The cart serial number is 5035614. It has a Curtis Controller number 1206AC-5201and a Solenoid 684-3681-012-14. The batteries needed to be revived. I was successful in getting them to accept and hold a charge of 50.4 volts. While the batteries were being revived, I carefully removed all of the visible contacts and connections. This cart did not have a run jumper, so I purchased one and installed it. I jacked the back wheels off the ground. I put the run/tow switch in the tow mode. Connected the batteries and turned the key to the reverse position , I got backup tone, solenoid clicked and motor brake clicked. Then I stepped on the Accelerator. Result was single click but no movement. Tried the Key switch to both the neutral and forward positions. Same result. I tried again with the run/tow switch in the run position, same result. Watched some TH-cam videos and began to trouble shoot the electronics. The solenoid tested marginal so I replaced it. Replacement works. The motor brake was not attached, so I disassembled it, cleaned it, rebuilt it, and reinstalled it. Applied power to it and it functioned normally. I have not yet gone into the key switch, the accelerator or brake switch micro switches for cleaning. The accelerator seemed to function normally while trying to start motor. The potentiometer test showed voltage going to the motor increasing as the pedal was depressed. I would like your assistance in guiding me where to go next and any advice you have that will help me get this cart working properly. Sorry for the length of this request. Thanks in advance, Jack Pepper.
Hello jack my next move would be to see if you were getting the proper voltage coming from the m- on the controller the m- is the high voltage sent to the motor to make it engage. If you are not getting voltage thru m- the you have had a controller failure. Also being it is a curtis your local dealer could use there diagnostic tool to plug into the cart and know exactly whats going on. I suspect you are have a controller issue being that you solenoid is clicking and transferring voltage into the controller... Check voltage leaving controller to the motor.
One last question about my RXV. My cart has an ISKRA POLJE 15 SEMPETER PRI GORIC. 3 PHASE AC MOTOR AMT7109 30 V 3.3kW, 11.217.026/601882 DC 48V Class H 07 07 2008 motor. I have a 2018 RXV. Replaced controller, brake position sensor, electric brake on motor. I charged it over night and headed off for my a round. Got 7 holes in and it died. Towed it home and put on charger, Lester Summit II. AC light on, yellow charge light flashes for 5 seconds then green charged light starts flashing as well, then red fault joins in flashing for 3 seconds heard a click then all lights go out except AC present light. Won't charge. Any advice or suggestions are welcome.
Thats a top of the line charger and pretty smart so it's either malfunctioning or you could have a battery (s) kicking it off? Would be nice if you knew someone else with an RXV to plug your charger into to take any issue with your cart out of the picture or see if the charger acts to same on theirs?
The solenoid does click when you turn on the key. I am not sure if it does when you push on the pedal when the cart won't move. I will have to check it when it acts up again. Of course now it is running again. What is the best way to test the solenoid? Thanks for your help.
There are several ways but in your case the click is what we're looking for the next time you have this issue and then you can use a volt meter to check some things. Hopefully if it happens you can give us a call at the time and we can walk you through the test with a volt meter. 276.632.8905
how did you fix it? My cart was doing the same thing. Go until you get up to speed and then stop. Now it won’t go at all. It won’t move in regular or tow mode but will roll when I switch the bypass plugs.
I have a 2010 RXV and the brake randomly engages when things get wet. When driving in rain, heavy dew, or washing the batteries down. when it does this i can still flip the connectors around to release the brake to move it. Just wondering what component to look at to test and hopefully fix this issue
I have a 2011 RXV that won't run and has no brakes (just rolls). When I turn on the cart, the solenoid clicks on and off quickly, but when I press the gas pedal, the solenoid does not click at all in reverse or in forward. Everything else seems to work fine except for the brake lights and the blinkers. The cart has a new lithium battery. Any ideas?
@@cartsmarttv Thanks. I wasn't sure if the symptom of the brakes not working at all meant something else. They aren't locked up, the cart actually rolls and has no way of stopping. Would I need that solenoid you linked or a different one since it's a 48v cart?
I have a 2009 RXV that does not slow down or regen when letting off of the accelerator pedal. Any idea what could be causing this? The motor was replaced in 2016. The motor label is MAHLE AM7132 E-Z-GO 611355
my buddy has this cart. the cart has newer batteries. his complaint is the cart goes 12 holes and quits. he comes back later and the cart will drive again. any suggestions please and thank you.
Could be many things but sounds like the solenoid may be over heating or the controller/motor etc... Does he get a click when it doesn't go? Or on these the brake may not be releasing.
I have a 2010 Ezgo RXV 48 volt. The electric brake is locked. Was driving, stopped for a minute, got back on and it wouldn't go. You can here scrubbing sound from brake as the cart barley moves. In tow mode it will roll.. What's the cause and fix?. Thanks, Joe
I have a 2010 RXV and have had the usual motor brake issues but that is pretty easy to fix especially if you have a lifted cart. The problem that I’m having now is that when I apply the throttle it feels like it has a clutch slipping and NO brakes. My question is, are there clutches in the transaxle that can go out and if so are they serviceable?
Hello mike to answer your question there are no clutches in that drive train. They have 3 gears in the rear end, an input shaft(which is what the motor slips onto) it has what i call the idler gear and then the center chunk(which drives the axles.)The brakes are controlled by the controller and if its a failure in the controller(depending on controller brand, CURTIS OR DANAHER ) the controller could be your problem.... I hope this is of some help to you and if we can help you any further please feel free to call us at 276.632.8905 Thank you
I have an 08 RXV, the brake is locking up. I replaced the Resistor and bypassed the jumper plug. Brake is still locking up. when driving you can smell the brake. Any ideas??
It sounds like it may not be releasing all the way. It may be worth removing it to knock out all the clutch dust etc... Almost any brake issues we have with these we go ahead and upgrade them to the new HD system, especially if you have a lifted cart with the bigger tires on it. www.ecartparts.com/motor-brake-upgrade-kit-heavy-duty-e-z-go-rxv
Hello, you may want to check battery pack voltage typically when a cart only run 15-30 minutes its a voltage drop from a or multiple batteries. Use a volt meter hook to the main battery wires then take off on the cart(with fully charged pack) see how much the pack is dropping if its a 36v cart then you should be reading 38v-40v fully charged that being said if it dropping past 36v under a load your having battery issues and the pack is dropping a battery or multiple batteries. same if it 48v pack should be around 51-55v charged if its dropping past 48v under a load it battery issues. I hope this helps you out feel free to give us a call if you need further assistance.
I have a 2011 RXV and it will periodically lose all power and come to an abrupt stop. If you turn the key off then on, it will then operate ok. It will sometimes go a whole round of golf with no issues and other times it will occur over and over. I have replaced the solenoid with a new one. Any other advice? I hate to just keep throwing parts at it.
Hello ron being that it is a 2011 it should have the curtis controller system in it. It sounds like to me it is having controller issues if it is not operating properly then it is not communicating with all the components necessary in the cart. The best thing you could do though is find a cart dealer near you and have them hook a diagnostic tool to it and that will tell them what is actually going on and at that point they should be able to repair if for you.
Hello Henry really have no thoughts on them due to not seeing or testing any of them being siad they are lithium and that where the whole industry is heading. Star is a decent brand of cart a little pricey to repair but being a 2022 I would hope there would be several years before any repair is needed. Hope this helps and thank you for tuning into our channel.
I have a 2010 EZGO RXV. The batteries died a few months back and just now replacing them. Prior to the batteries dying, it had an issue with the brake releasing. I could cycle the key off and on a few times and it would eventually release. Now that I have replaced the batteries, the solenoid isn’t clicking at all.
@str8racn the only thing in front of that is the key switch? But that's a guess to as it could very well be a bad controller causing the whole problem, if you could get access to a scanner it would tell you everything but not always easy to find someone with one depending on where you live?

I have a 2008 RXV 48v that i put fresh battery acid in because the acceleration and torque was lacking. Hoping i don’t need to get new battery’s how do I get more torque out of my golf cart?
Hello Cody the first thing you will need to do is find out how much voltage drop you have when riding your cart. low battery voltage could be your whole problem. 48v reading on a digital meter is actually very low in voltage and will not operate the cart properly. If you have a pack voltage of 50.1 or greater then to gain more torque on an rxv is to replace the controller with a higher AMP controller.
I have a 2011 EZGO RXV 48 volt that when you turn the key on sometimes it will run and then the next time it won't. I have changed the ignition switch to eliminate that and tested the solenoid and it seems fine. Do you have any suggestions of what might be the problem?
Hi, Sorry for the delay. Does your solenoid click each time you turn on the switch and or step on the gas pedal? They are known to have solenoid problems at times.

I have a 2014 RXV and when you turn the key on the cart jiggles and then when you accelerate slowly it all acts fine X fine but if you push hard on the pedal it'll the pedal bit locks up the rear tires. Could you steer me in the right direction as far as what I need to replace thank you.
Hello it sounds like the cart we were working on in our viedo it was doing the same thing and we ended up having to replace the controller. Now its gonna depend on which controller you have. Ez-go started off making the rxv with a danaher controller and having so many issues they moved to Curtis. If you have the curtis you have a dealer or if you know someone who has the curtis diagnostic tool plug into the controller and it will tell you what actually going on.
Issue with my 2016 ezgo rxv is that batteries are fully charged, yet while operating I can feel the cart accelerate properly and then it deaccelerates and goes in and out periodically with a decrease speed in reverse.. today I have cycled the ignition from forward, neutral on off and reverse soon after the cart showed improvement could it be a bad ignition? Last year it left me stranded dealer replaced the gas petal now it’s this.. please any help is much appreciated..
2016 should have the good controller so could be, maybe?? I'd check where they installed the new pedal to be sure any electrical connection is plugged in tight for starters. But that is usually a sign of a speed sensor going bad?
I am having a random problem on my rxv when I turn on the key either in reverse or forward I hear a click but it won't move when I push down the pedal. if I turn the key to reverse the reverse buzzer comes on but it doesn't move. it only does this randomly sometimes I turn key back toff then back on and it works or another time I turned the key to on and rocked the cart back and forth with my foot then it worked. its totally random. brake is disengaging I can roll it. I don't want to just start throwing parts at it. throttle position sensor, solenoid etc... where should I start to try to narrow down this problem?
The click should be your brakes releasing, when you press the gas you should hear another click for your solenoid, Be sure you're hearing that as we've replaced several of those also.
@@bobhall6404 hello actually no I have not I replaced the solenoid after some checking and odd voltage readings there I replaced the switch also and it still is doing this if I turn the key on and off several times while depressing the pedal slightly I can get it to work its actually very frustrating. my next part is going to be the throttle position sensor near the pedal.

I have a 2008 Ezgo RXV 48 volt. Having the common brake failure issue. Is there an upgraded brake or any other long term fix for this? Thanks
Hello Vance Yes there is a upgraded brake disc that has solved all the braking problem we have experienced with the rxv.
Great. Where can I get one from?
Hi Adam, It sounds like your batteries might be dead not letting the brake unlock on the motor. Do you have a hand held voltage meter to check your batteries? Our latest video shows what to look for and how to check your voltage. Feel free to give us a call for any help. 276.632.8905
Do you know if this motor is equipped with a reset button? if so, where would it be located. Thanks again in advance for your help and guidance. Jack Pepper
I have a 2009 RVX. It will go in reverse. The switch makes sound in both forwards and reverse. Any ideas for repair.
Sounds like your controller is not recognizing it? Or bad key switch?
Your accelerator pedal switch is bad. Or if in forward it goes beep beep it’s the e brake. If it’s a constant noise it’s the pedal switch
2014 RXV. When I turn the key to on the cart surges forward a few inches and then stops. I can’t get it to drive forward or in reverse after that.
It sounds like your brake is not releasing, Do you hear the solenoid click?
Hello, we ended up putting a upgraded navitas controller in it and it solved all the problems that was going on.
I have a 2010 RXV and the brake randomly engages when things get wet. When driving in rain, heavy dew, or washing the batteries down. when it does this i can still flip the connectors around to release the brake to move it. Just wondering what component to look at to test and hopefully fix this issue
The controller controls all of that so maybe the first signs of issues? Do you know which controller you have on yours?
I have a 2011 RXV that won't run and has no brakes (just rolls). When I turn on the cart, the solenoid clicks on and off quickly, but when I press the gas pedal, the solenoid does not click at all in reverse or in forward. Everything else seems to work fine except for the brake lights and the blinkers. The cart has a new lithium battery. Any ideas?
It sounds like just a bad solenoid? Let us know if we can help. www.ecartparts.com/solenoid-36v-4-terminal-e-z-go-rxv-electric-curtis-controller
@@cartsmarttv Thanks. I wasn't sure if the symptom of the brakes not working at all meant something else. They aren't locked up, the cart actually rolls and has no way of stopping. Would I need that solenoid you linked or a different one since it's a 48v cart?
@curtmooney2995 you will need the 48 volt, part number SOL-1040
I have a 2009 RXV that does not slow down or regen when letting off of the accelerator pedal. Any idea what could be causing this? The motor was replaced in 2016. The motor label is MAHLE AM7132 E-Z-GO 611355
It sounds like maybe controller? Give us a call as we have a couple of things to go over to try to help you. > 276.632.8905
my buddy has this cart. the cart has newer batteries. his complaint is the cart goes 12 holes and quits. he comes back later and the cart will drive again. any suggestions please and thank you.
Thanks, Joe
Sounds like the brake disc inside has failed. replacement of the disc inside shoud remedy your issue.

EZGO Issues…. Had new batteries about 2 years ago runs for about 15 minutes and starts acting up any ideas?
Hit the brake in hit the pedal it's your brake sensor
What do you folk's think of the Star Sirius 2022 lithium battery carts?
It could be just a bad solenoid causing this problem? We have seen that before.
@@cartsmarttv
Thank you!
I decided to replace the solenoid today and unfortunately still isn’t picking the brake. What next?
@str8racn the only thing in front of that is the key switch? But that's a guess to as it could very well be a bad controller causing the whole problem, if you could get access to a scanner it would tell you everything but not always easy to find someone with one depending on where you live?
@@cartsmarttv I found a video to switch the number 3 male plug end into the number 1 female plug end just to see if the parking brake will pick and it does.
I am assuming this means a bad controller?
I have a 2008 RXV 48v that i put fresh battery acid in because the acceleration and torque was lacking. Hoping i don’t need to get new battery’s how do I get more torque out of my golf cart?
Hello Cody the first thing you will need to do is find out how much voltage drop you have when riding your cart. low battery voltage could be your whole problem. 48v reading on a digital meter is actually very low in voltage and will not operate the cart properly. If you have a pack voltage of 50.1 or greater then to gain more torque on an rxv is to replace the controller with a higher AMP controller.
Got a ‘16 rxv and when driving the steering wheel wwobbles up and down, what do you think might be the problem?
Is it still stock with regular size tires and wheels?
just got 2023 rxv evi any feedback on model
Too soon to say. We haven't seen any of those yet.
Hello I have a 2012 rxv drove it last night had a strong brake smell then wouldn’t go at all ! When you turn the key to reverse it jumps back but you push the pedal and nothing but beeping forwards and reverse! Help

I have 2009 rxv and when I press the throttle cart moves slow and shudders it's got new encoder and brake on it I dont now where to go next
we had a rxv here at one point that did EXACT same thing yours is doing and it ended up being the controller that was causing that issue.
Hello, were you able to find a solution to this problem? This morning, my 2017 rxv did exactly what you described.
I have a 2018 Rxv with same issue going along at slow speeds okspeed up and sudden brake engagement then I pull over cycle the key and I can go slow again any ideas
Hello james you need to find someone with a diagnostic tool to plug into the controller but i would suspect controller that been the biggest issue i have seen wrong with the rxv aside from electric brake.
I have one that when you mash the throttle pedal all the way it only moves slowly 🐌 . Fwd and Rev.
Hi Robert that would normally be the ENCODER/SPEED SENSOR.

My cart won't go it is 2008 rxv replacement brake and still won't go
hello sir you could have a bad solenoid causing this issue but its the least common problem from my experience it has been controller issues that cause an rxv to not run. If you have a local cart dealer near you they can plug into the controller with diagnostic tool and tell you exactly what is going on.
@@cartsmarttv Replace the solenoid so do you think it's the controller then the plug to check it don't work
@@brucerendell3984 if that plug for diagnostic tool isnt working that could be the problem to i have seen that plug be the problem also but most likely its the controller.
