I knew one would be Delmar! I lived next to the Albany Country Club in Voorheesville while attending SUNY Albany! I loved Voorheesville, and I was only 10 minutes from Albany. The Boyd Thatcher Park is very close also. All the places she named are very desirable places to live. Niskayuna is closer to Schenectady but a very upscale area.
Odd that the video title is "Best Neighborhoods in Albany NY", yet she never mentions any actual neighborhoods in Albany itself. Three of the areas talked about are in different counties, Rensselaer, Schenectady, and Saratoga, not Albany County. The other areas, such as Delmar, Voorheesville, Guilderland, Colonie, Latham, ARE in Albany County, but are more suburban, not within Albany City limits. While they are nice places to live, and within easy driving distance to Albany, they aren't part of the city's central area. A more accurate title might be "Best Areas in the Capital District", which would include the areas talked about. Not trying to be picky, but as a lifelong Albany resident, I believe most people would not consider most of the areas talked about, to be neighborhoods in Albany.
Thank you for your feedback Martin. I agree with you- the area is definitely called the Capital District or the capital region however locals are really the only people that know that. When people are relocating to this area from other areas of the country they say they are moving to “Albany” so the title is to gain their attention and to let people know about many of the areas in this region. There is a previous video I have called Moving to Albany that notes this. But I should get working on one about some of the actual neighborhoods in Albany 😉
I’m from New York City. I would like to start a new life in Albany, Ny or in one of these cities you spoke of in this video. Do you have rent to own your own home deals?
MO_VR I have been to Albany several times and if I have had a feeling that it is not safe especially in the down town, it seems to me a depressing and ghostly place. But there are nice neighborhoods, and very nice historic buildings.
