This is such an underrated piece, one of my favourites of Chopin’s Edit: for those who don’t know this piece is the second of the Trois nouvelles etudes

I love this étude, but I have yet to hear a performance that is really satisfying. I hope Kate Liu, one of my favorite Chopin interpreters, will record it. that's an insightful question. I think schubert is mainly remembered for his songs so I would suggest you check out some of his early songs("gretchen am spinrade", "auf dem wasser zu singen", "himmelsfunken" ). I also believe some of his earlier piano works(D 664, D894, D537) are pretty good. Though, his later works seem to score much better in terms of uniqueness and emotional depth.

This is actually my favourite Chopin etude. So much of Chopin's magic compressed into such a short span of time. The Godowsky version (45) is magical too with a stunning countermelody emerging towards the end.

I actually referred to the ekier edition, and there were no ped markings at all for this one. I guess using a half ped(for every bar or less)should do because the harmonies shift really quickly. Otherwise, it might sound muddy imo. As for the other two, I think they are pretty straightforward; you change pedal for every new harmony.

I like the second a lot. I agree that it's the prettiest Etude, and it holds up next to the more famous slow/lyrical etudes, namely 10.3, 10.6, 25.1, and 25.7. The first one is rhythmically interesting, not just because of the polyrhythm, but also because the right hand feels like it can't decide between 3/4 and 6/8. To me, the third is the weakest. The legato/staccato idea in the right hand is interesting, but the piece itself is unusually mediocre for Chopin.
Let alone that, at 0:29 you have a chord progression similar to that in the build-up to the climax (the recapitulation) in Scriabin's B minor Fantaisie (chromatic rising, augmented thirds). See how forward-looking it sounds!

Master Koskinen loved playing this etude in his study years. We couldn't find any recording of him, maybe one day.
I admit I don't fully understand the emotions conveyed my music, but this is a nice music piece! Sounds pleasant to my ears.
