  • If you want to rotate in your golf swing and also want to eradicate your early extension, then never set up like this! In this video we dive into the massive role that set up has on your body's ability to rotate and maintain posture in the golf swing. If your set up is poor, you will always struggle to achieve a consistent golf swing.

    Im so glad I clicked this!! Your correct way was my posture all my life, I excelled as a junior golfer and for the first bit of varsity I won some events and my college coach wanted me to improve so he shifted me to the straighter back along with a few other things.. I tried and tried to make it work thinking it was the right thing but it tore my game, career and my head apart from the inside out. I’ve only recently become semi comfortable with it but I have misses way off to the right (RH swing) which I’ve NEVER had and the hooks trying to correct. Hitting the range right now to see how this feels. I bet it feels like home! Thank you

    This was so helpful thank you! I was always striving for that aesthetically pleasing look like Rory’s and always struggled to turn. Thank you for having the audacity to say use poor posture. 😂 this set up really helped me with my backswing.

    Can’t explain how much of a savior this video is. Had back straight as a board and could not for the life of me figure out why I always felt out of balance and not being able to get back to the ball on down swing.
    This changed EVERYTHING.
    Balance is a breeze and solid ball striking.

    Posture is so important, but often neglected by (most) golfers. I changed my posture, and it makes a h... of a difference. In fact, I bend more forward now than I used to do, but I definitely try to avoid "sitting back" with my pelvis. I stand up erect, curv my spine slightly forward to avoid extencion in my lower back, bend forward from the hips with my legs stright until I feel a slight strech in the hamstrings (Pete Cowen tip), then I flex my knees slightly. Voila!

    This will be wonderfull for older or less athletic golfers. What happens with this though is a greater likelihood you will sway or not stay posted over the back leg and this will open up contact issues and power leaks.

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is good for every golfer, as the more “athletic style” is very inconsistent for every age range and physicality of golfer. The old school set up that I’m talking about here will certainly not encourage a sway, it will give you a far greater chance to remain centred as you turn, due to the less physical strain put on the body due to the “athletic” poor set up

    This is the first video I'm sort of struggling to agree with. I've been checking out many of your videos and implementing your drills and advise into my own game and have seen big improvements. Mostly though your videos promote 'simple' ways of understanding how to improve and practice a better golf swing to make it more efficient and consistent. Generally improving your swing to get closer to the type of swing you see with the best players in the world. However this video seems to promote something I'm seeing none of the best players in the world do, they almost seem to universally flex their knees much more and stick out their pelvis behind the body. Maybe I'm missing something here but how could this type of setup be severely restricting rotation and swing ability if many of the best players seem to be doing it?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Look at the pros that have come up in the last 5 years and pros from the Nicklaus era and draw a line from their armpits down the their feet, they’re all over the balls of the feet. You’re correct at most pros have very flexed knees with their pelvis behind them, as most top pros where taught under the aesthetical “perfect swing” instruction of the 90’s and early 00’s. Most players of which are constantly plagued by lower back pain and can repeat their pattern to a high level through countless hours of repetition and high skill. Not something I would want to teach to golfers out of a health stand point and technical stand point and time stand point. Very much a case of don’t make golf hard for yourself without warrant.
