I love that tether locker, I am cheap but it was definitely worth the 10 or so bucks to me just to avoid the hassle of a climb of shame

So I do mine slightly different with the same result. I leave a small tag end after scaffold knot, tie a stopper knot in it then girth hitch my innovating the outdoors tether locker between the stopper knot and the scaffold knot. Ultimately it’s pulling from the same location.

Awesome! Kyle Skelly from Innovating The Outdoors was showing me a cool new way to do it WITHOUT a carabiner at all! I may ask him if I can do a video on it and unveil his technique to the world soon, lol!

Thanks for the video. Whoever you have videoing this sounds like they have their nose smashed up against the mic; I can hear them breathing the whole time. Makes it like one of those stalker horror movies or something.

Why don’t you use an omega elite carabiner instead of that quick link the elite is super strong or even better the omega Moab Biner

The reason aluminum carabiners are not accepted as adequate equipment for one-sticking is they are not rated to handle any potential side-loading that may occur during a climb. While it’s arguable you could actually put a carabiner in such a position, several of us DO climb small-enough trees that it could be a concern. In the case of the Omega Elite you suggest, it’s minor axis rating is only 1kn - or 224 pounds-force. Add a small drop to shock-load the system, and it’s easy to surpass that. My steel quick link, conversely, is rated for 10kn along its minor axis - 10X the aluminum carabiner.

@@StaggsintheWild the omega elite is rated at 17kn minor axis not 1 sir and closed it’s rated at 45kn and the omega Moab is double that it’s steel carabiners you may want to do your homework

@@bqoutdoors2334 that’s what pulled up when I typed in “Omega Elite” … if it’s a different carabiner and it’s steel, I may be interested. I’ll research it more when I have time and I’m actually in front of my computer. Thanks for letting me know.
