      Hi Kris
      As a Brit watching your politics I can give a None bias opinion on what I thinks best for your nation. And I can confidently say Bobby Kennedy is the best man for the job. He looks to unite all sides and I think you should interview him. I'm almost certain you'll be able to get him as he's doing alot of podcasts and interviews on the online space as he believes it's the best way to reach the people :)

      @@djapotomous1531 Thanks for the recommendation. I spoke to him one on one back in 2003. At the time, I felt like he was a typical politician, giving canned responses to my questions. I'm not sure if he's changed much, but I think he'll just end up pulling votes from one candidate like Ross Perot back when Bush was running against Clinton. I hate that we've effectively been reduced to a 2 party system, but here we are :(

    While emergency preparedness is important, extreme "prepping" leads to significant spending on gadgets and equipment and heightened anxiety, driven by an industry that profits from encouraging excessive stockpiling and always having the latest and greatest items. A more balanced approach, focusing on practical, flexible plans and realistic risk assessment, can ensure readiness without unnecessary financial burden or stress.

    Thank you Kris another great video. So much more for us to consider than your videos several years ago! I wanted to share something that isnt usually talked about in prepping but it is definitely something that people should be aware of. This world has become polarized, devisive and full of division every where you turn, including in the family and it might be valuable to think about being prepared should you be 'cast off' by your family and are left to fend for yourself both financially and emotionally. I think theres room in prepping for some level of asking yourself 'can I take care of myself if I have to'. I got to this revelation the hard way 6 months ago and as a 69 year old I can tell you it is life changing and humbling. Ive since found that this is not uncommon for older people, given our current social climate and younger generations being so self focused. Just wanted to throw this out there, if it could help one person not go through what I've been through, it would be great! Take care.

      Not if you have a President whose policies are directed to basically undermining our natural resources and disbanding coal and oil in the country. And not if your President is geared to solar energy and is basically forcing us to buy solar panels from China. And not if mandates are pushing people towards electric vehicles which are not only unproven but we have no infrastructure to readily recharge those vehicles in place of gasoline stations. The US may be able to be "self sufficient" but we aren't and we're not going to be. Look at the nut in the White House and tell me you think his policies have been good for America. He and his administration are a HUGE problem.

    About the election, my family & I live in MI. All 4 of us received absentee ballot applications this spring. Only myself turned in the application. 1 other member requested on the last application for all future ballots. The remaining members did not turn in the applications nor checked the box for all future ballots.
    Last week we ALL received official absentee ballots. There’s something very wrong here, and with as little faith I already had in elections, I think having that scenario happen IN MY HOME, depleted all trust in fair elections. Not sure if I’m going to vote now, possibly ever again. 2 illegitimate absentee ballots in the house… 🙄

However as for prepping… as the oldest of 7 my mother “prepped” out of necessity to keep us fed. Made many of our clothes and homeschooled til we were old enough to attend the Catholic school. My father was a brick mason so work was seasonal here in Michigan.
    Many whom I have talked to prep out of convenience. Some since it’s how they grew up. However, it does surprise me how many prep simply out of fear.

    Americans are often resistant to the idea of following the climate science because: 1, climate science is generally funded by the government; 2, the solution to a changing climate is yielding more money and power to the government; and 3, climate predictions that make it into the public view are often wildly innacurate.

    Wow Chris! This was an intense video. But it was good. It was like a pause from business as usual and take stock of what else is going on. Contextualizing it all within the idea of "Is this something that I should prep for?" keeps it firmly within the prepper's domain. This expansion of the prepper's domain was something we first saw show up when Covid began to unfold. Because they were saying things like "Shelter in place" and stores were reported to be running low on certain items, the prepper outlook began to be seen as valuable and preppers began to grow aware that they needed to understand at least some of the events unfolding "out there" in order to prepare properly. To me, situating the video like this shows how you've matured as a creator, as well. Another part of this is the vision that you have shared with us. Many creators though they refer to their Community, do not really take advantage of some of the opportunities for change, that would allow a real reciprocal Community to arise. However, you are in many ways. There are many of us who for one reason or another are trying to be the change that the world needs in order for us to survive as a species. Revisioning what is meant by "community" is one of the first and hardest steps. So thank you for keeping your vision accessible to us all.

    Our perception of the state of our climate is based almost completely on what "experts" tell us in the media. Be careful who and what you believe. We are NOT experiencing unprecedented high temperatures. The highest recorded temp in St. Louis was 117 degrees in 1954, accompanied by devastating drought, as only one example. Climate is cyclical, as are all patterns in the natural world. And "predictions" are not fact.

    • @juliettebobcat704

      OK fishinghole. If you believe this is the case, then what does one do to deal with it personally? Just ignore what's current, expecting it to get better again? On what time scale? Will you believe it's different this time if the cold water conveyor belt of the Atlantic stops moving?

      Apparently the dust bowl never happened, according to the experts. We began getting suspicious of the data when we saw four different weather data gathering stations. Two were completely surrounded by trees to within a few feet of the fence around them. Two others, who ‘bows how they began, but now they are completely surrounded by buildings just outside their fences. None could possible be giving accurate data. How many more are like that? And how many more data gathering sites are actually needed to give a clear picture of what is happening. There are nowhere near enough.

      @CityPrepping  24 วันที่ผ่านมา +11

      What you're referring to is a one-time event. Yes, there have been hotter "moments" in our history. But what's different now is that we're seeing higher temperatures sustained over longer periods of time, which are dramatically changing multiple aspects of our lives. The largest one is going to be consistent food production (this is the one that bothers me the most).

    • @carolgold-boyd9287
      @carolgold-boyd9287 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +9

      No, my perception of the climate is based upon having lived in this region for the last 50 years and noting that our winters are shorter, we have more heat waves, and the growing season is now at least 4 weeks longer than it was when I was younger. It used to be routine for Lake Michigan to freeze in winter, now it almost never does. I no longer cross country ski in winter because we simply don't get enough and consistent snow whereas 25 years ago it was my major form of winter exercise. If you've lived in the same region as long as I have and you don't notice things have changed you are either not paying attention or in denial.

    I was a "prepper" 30 years ago. So many of my family and friends chided me for being a "tin foil hat". Then came the poo poo paper pandemonium of the coof. Not a single roll of toilet paper was available for weeks in my community, my family is outrageously stocked with all hygiene necessities. That was a wake up call for some of them. Then came the forest fire that plunged our little town into darkness for weeks. I never even needed to fire a generator because of my carefully designed solar and battery arrays. Now most of them understand why i prep. For my family's comfort and safety. Remember folks, if you are not good for yourself you can not be good for anyone else.

    500 Years ago there was a prolonged period of heat/drought so intense that it drove the indigenous people from the area for centuries. Pretty sure anthropogenic causes were not the reason for the climate change at that time.
    12,000 years ago there was 2 miles of ice piled over my head where I live in NJ due to climate change. Now it is gone - climate changed again.
    I have no doubt that the climate is changing again, (or rather still). It will continue to change no matter what we do or don't do.
    We need to focus on adapting to the inevitable, and that does not include participating in the carbon control money grab that is starting to gather momentum. That money will be needed to adapt our infrastructure, dwelling units and farming practices that need to be altered/transformed/redesigned to meet the challenges of the climate as it continues to do what it does.

We need to innovate our way into the future; our country used to lead that department. Over-regulation and centralized control are NOT "progressive" ideas.
