  • 2005-current VW/Audi 2.0T 1.8T direct injected engines
    The engine in the class was a CCTA full chain drive engine. The earlier timing belt/rear chain engines function the same, just the phaser is in the rear and the solenoid is a conventional design.
    Sample codes include P0021, P0022, P0016, P000A, P0011, P0012
    If you ever wondered how VW/Audi made variable cam timing work? Ever had a trouble code for cam timing and didn’t know where to start? How does VVT work in general? How can I test VVT to see if it is working? What is inside a cam phaser? What is a central (4/3) valve? What is a bearing bridge? What do I do when output tests fail?

    I have a p0011 code, I've replaced everything when I rebuilt it and I still have the code. The head was rebuilt at the machine shop, replaced the intake cam and phaser, solenoid, magnet, cam bridge, timing chains, guides, tensioners, oilpump, oil and bosch filter, the whole shabbam. Runs and drives good. The code only comes when I drive it. 09 2.0t tsi.

      Did you replace this part number 06H109257C if you replaced it and the code came back then that means the Cambridge mesh screen from the old cam bridge bearing is stuck somewhere in the oil passages and does not give enough oil pressure to the cam phaser to unlock and advance or retard the cam timing

    I just did a head install on mine last weekend. The intake cam gear has very slight rotational play back and forth. The chain pops very slightly once every full rotation (manually) of the crankshaft. Im scared. Am I okay?

      Did you replace the main timing chain tensioner if not replace it and put the clip on the second from last of the chain tensioner piston when it's fully out

      This is an emission code has nothing to do with timing

    Someone should have made this video 5-7 years ago when this piece of garbage engine started to have problems lol.
