The Real Lives of Loggers in Canada: From Forest to Factory | Canadian Lumberjack Documentary

  • We join the loggers of British Colombia, Canada as they battle 6-metre-wide trees, 200km an hour winds and a slippy terrain that is also home to grizzly bears. They put their lives on the line but they would not want to do anything else performing one of the toughest jobs on the planet.
Here, life is all about the forest. At the heart of the economy is the wood that teams of lumberjacks cut from the immense forest. Their job is a dangerous one: if they don’t take it seriously, it could take their lives.
After being cut down the enormous logs must be transported on a tugboat across an unforgiving sea. We follow the journey of the trees from the forest to factory. A rare glimpse at some stunning Great White North landscapes and one of the toughest jobs on the planet.
This documentary was produced by Via Decouvertes and directed by Vincent Perazio. It was first released in 2014.

The important is that it's just a cutting not pulling the roots, so trees can grow again slowly..😊

I hate to see the old trees cut down. They will never actaully be replaced even if you replant them. Populations and demand is too high. The "young" or recently planted trees in the last 50 years will never actually get to be old.

Now that you've got your stick house, in a subdivision that was treed, and a chair, paper next to the crapper, how dare you say stop, play the movie to the end, your offspring will live in a bird's-nest in the branches somewhere, really ?

Hi loggers i no you need jobs to live, but cutting so much trees down you are causing so much damage to the environment by taking out the trees that create air for the planet and store carbon, and if you have family your putting your family at risk so why don't companies do select logging and leave more trees in the forest.

Cutting down a tree that is over a 1000 years old would be difficult for me. I suppose after time you become desensitized to it, but for those that aren’t in the industry, some of us see it differently. There’s something special about something that old I feel some of these forests and trees should be protected. I have great interest in the industry but do care about nature a great deal. Why not cut down trees that aren’t so old and protect these ancient trees and forest.
