Always interesting! TECH MAP, have you shown close up pictures of the front landing gear? I am really curious why you have decided on this style. I imagine it would have something to do with a heat factor, but I'm just guessing. My interest in space flight comes from my Dads service in the USAF during WWII and after. Thanks! 👍👍
This could be a dumb question, but I'm wondering why they couldn't also use Falcon Heavy to launch it. Depending on ULA as the launch vehicle seems risky due to all the delays and issues with the BE4 engines.
The capsule is nothing but a taxicab. I hope the Dream Chaser succeeds; it can work in conjunction with Starship as an alternative for loads that require a less intense landing.
Good Morning my Friend. I wouldn't call the Dreamchaser a challenger to SpaceX. I think it complements the Falcon family. It will have its own unique missions. It still needs a rocket to get it up there. Dreamchaser will never fly to the moon. At least in its present configuration. It's much better than the Starliner or Blue Origin. Just my opinion. You can bet that Elon Musk has much bigger plans than just the Starship. He has to be focused on the Starship for now. Getting it debugged and functioning properly. Who knows. Dreamchaser may even launch on a Falcon or Falcon Heavy. That would be a big plus for Sierra Space. They could even work together. Gwynne Shotwell is spot on. Great Update. Have a Great Day my Friend.
It's not the first space plane, the STS was. The "Dream Chaser" hasn't flown. We don't know whether it will survive re- entry or problems that may crop up. The Shuttle thermal tiles were its Achilles heal.
There is no way ULA is going to launch dream chaser in 2025. They will continue to have issues and be unreliable. The only space company that can launch dream chaser anytime soon and in 2025 is SpaceX.
Given the finndings from Starship wings on re-entry, considering this vessel has never been into orbit leaves me sceptical that it is a SpaceX rival any time soon. Once it gets into orbit, SpaceX will already have Starship operational - refuelling and resupply - and it will already dwarf Sierra's Dream Chaser. Besides, Vulcan Centaur ? Vulcan who ? There was talk that ULA was going bust and that Sierra was poised to be its saviour. So I think Sierra will be depending on SpaceX for launch.
Of course SpaceX has challenges, but they benefit from NASA data and have more a chance of success than anyone! When it comes to sierra space, yes the plane flies well, but it has never gone through the hell of reentry, to say it's solved the problems is far too bold, it's an unproven technology, the only advantage it has at this stage is the fact it launches on top of a rocket and not the side. Real life testing is the only way we will have the facts, and won't it be funny when it eventually gets a ride with SpaceX? Too big for the Falcon 9, yet Starship is only a couple of years from service.
@@techmap9 SpaceX already HAS their spaceplane, it's called "Starship", doesn't need a runway to land. First landing of DreamChaser a steel skid plate was used for nose gear but it got 'removed' at concrete join, nose strut abraded rapidly. Are they still going with that?
Steel plate would've worked better on a salt lake bed or flat sand or cold asphalt, but a freeze joint in the concrete runway, inch or so tall, unnoticeable with wheels/tires, stripped it RIGHT off. Maybe they should've used X-15 landing gear, nose wheel and mains skids, instead.
Let’s wish the best for Dreamchaser. Looking forward to its flights.
🥰🥰🥰🥰
The cost per pound, per launch has already made it obsolete.
Blue Origin has yet to make its bird fly
dream chaser and spacex which is cheaper to fly ?
I’m predicting that this will be the next big 💥.
What made you think so?

Yes, it needs a rocket, but it will be a big step forward 🤞

And then Elon bought Dreamchaser and we all lived happily ever after
🤭🤭🤭
Amen, Dream Chaser can be launched by SpaceX and that is not a bad thing!
Good luck!
Reliable? How do you know at this point??

Yes. Starship will definitely another level. So it’s better for Dream Chaser to be launch on SpaceX rockets

This is way out of date.
I hope we spend tons of money on space vehicles rather than giving the wasteful DoD nearly $1T
How long has it been that Dream Chaser is "ready to fly"? SpaceX will be boosting it to orbit, so will good customer of Falcon 9.
I also hope that Sierra will incorporate with SpaceX to launch spaceplane

20 years from now and 200 billion wasted tax dollars from now? Obsolete before it ever takes a single flight.
Really.
Not yet.
Somebody watching??😊😊😊
A lot 🤭🤭🤭
@techmap9 kkkkkkkkk....😁😁😁😁😁😁
Yes, Dream Chaser, Elon should buy this vehicle.
But, it needs a launcher rocket. 🚀. Who is going to launch it twice a month or more.
OH PLEASE THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT VEHICLES DESIGNED FOR 2 DIFFERENT MISSIONS CLICKBAIT WELL I SUPPOSE IT WORKED
Its nothing more than a high altitude Cessna.
Seems to me it’s old tech
How much is that wimpy payload going to cost us?
Waste.
