  • Came back to the 8.3 Cummins after setting for a day to find it wouldn't start again. Also a little footage of me test driving the Dodge that was out of time that I repaired driving through a sand storm.

Anyone can be a parts changer not many can diagnose a hidden problem.

Farmers a long time ago used to have windrows of trees planted around their fields and property lines. It cost man hours to maintain them, then the tree windrows would get bulldozed and burned and not replaced. There are all kinds of greenry boundaries that can be implemented to be proactive to create wind buffer zones.
Those modern connectors on the wiring harnesses are going to be the bane of our existence in troubleshooting the electronics. Most sensor/electrical component mfgs have replacement pigtails for almost all harnesses now.
    Thanks Warren for sharing.
I do not know if we are getting to be better stewards of our environments with the increasing technologies being used or to replace other ways of doing things, but it does not seem so...

Often those trees were the area where the farmers dumped the rocks they ran into while plowing. Many an hour of my youth was spent following the plow to move rocks in Ohio. We had no idea the landscapers would pay for them later, or the old man would of made us take them up to the barn.

I used the ones I drug out for back fill, then put dirt over the top, knowing to never dig there again. Most of it was softball sized to football sized, some of the quartz and granite I gave to home gardeners/landscaping

You fixed leak on pump, fitting and built more presure and now shows at pump now where before there wasn't enough presure to make it leak. You the man for finding the crazy thing. Finding the issue only part of hard part on this ride.

Warren has probably seen those old horse drawn hay rakes with the seat on them , rigged to hook on a tractor an a rope ran back to the trip handle to dump the pile of hay , then hook the old hay baler to the tractor and pull it from one hay pile to the next , feeding the baler with pitch forks an tying each bale . Using the baler was easier than loading the hay loose , then throwing it up stairs with pitch forks ............

That's why the top of the compressor is so clean. It's probably a combination of the loose fitting at the electric pump and the gear pump. I've had that issue with the coil and injector connectors. The glitter may have been from the previous cam failure. I think yougot it!!! Great job Warren!!!

What's happening with the 5.7 is you're likely seeing a hydraulic lifter failure due to wear in the roller bearings. Could cause higher cylinder temperatures, premature spark plug failure, Misfire, camshaft damage. Pull valve cover and check for possible cam and lifter damage.

Place a straw in glass of water, thumb over end, pull it up.
    That's your pump.
    Remove thumb- that's your leak.
Install UV dye to fuel line (kit from NAPA $20)
    or
Install a smoke machine to fuel filler neck (Autoline Pro $120 cheapest)
Pay for itself first usage, time, frustration.
You've needed one many times in past.
