The boys complained that he wasn’t in the business long enough for their liking. They complained even more when he was RACING to the top. They complained that he was a loner. They complained that his running to the ring was not the way your supposed to get to the ring & then they said that’s all he could do…..& the beat goes on. It was Kerry VonEric for me. I was blessed to go to a Cafe my whole life where the cook was also a tag team wrestler for WCW in the 80s. Kerry and Iceman King Parsons would come in from time to time to have breakfast there. I got to sit in Kerry's lap and have breakfast one morning. I also had for years until it got lost and autograph photo from Kerry. I LOVED THE VonErics. I will for ever cherish those memories. As well as my dad making a ring on Saturday and us all wrestling and him letting us jump off the couch onto him doing all the moves they would do and of course who's dad has never grabbed their stomach and sceamed "THE CLAW"? Man those were the days. I'm still friends with Terry, sadly his wrestling days are long over, but his son is doing it now. Terry was still doing matches up until about 7 years ago when a motorcycle accident nearly took his foot. My brother also married the great-granddaughter of the woman who opened the Cafe in the 50s. She just recently sent me the recipes for her great grandmother's pies. Man when they had to close the doors for good (that was my first job when I was 15 and worked on and off throughout the years) it was like a part of my family died that day. Anyways that has nothing to do with wrestling but being able to meet Kerry and Iceman was awesome. He was my first crush. When he died and how he died as well as his brothers it was so heartbreaking. I also never knew Kerry had his foot or part of his foot amputated and he wrestled for a while that way until he just couldn't anymore and that began his decline. So many tragedies in the world of wrestling. The VonErics ranch is still not far from where I grew up. Fort Worth was the home of wrestling till McMahan took over.

    In Warrior’s mind, he felt he was entitled to this package because unlike guys like Jake, Flair, Bret, etc, he was “working” a lot more hours than those guys, via his extreme diet and many more hours in the gym. And that he invented and brought something to the table those guys didn’t- the run to the ring and an energy that they didnt have.
    Not to mention he knew that Hogan was on his way out. He knew Hogan was growing stale and was involved with Hollywood and movies and all that nonsense, so Vince could certainly afford it. And I’m sure there were already rumors of Hogan jumping ship to Dubya See Dubya.

      He has embellished it slightly here by changing some words said but he's told the same story for years now. It's pretty obvious why Warrior would have doubts about working with him and might lay down the law, Jake can take that how he wants. They were doing a program where Undertaker and Warrior were feuding and Jake sided with Warrior then betrayed him so it was kinda obvious they were going with that next but it never happened because Warrior was fired.
      The championship being involved is questionable though as Hulk had it at that time, it's possible Undertaker may have won the belt and later dropped it to Warrior as they were feuding but Flair was also involved too by then with Hulk. We got a whole load of nonsense from the Hulkster even on his way out to do movies though where he refused to drop it to flair and had to win it back off Undertaker and have the belt be vacated for Flair to have it via a Royal Rumble.
      It would have still been a big program against a top babyface though and probably worth a lot of money to be given a run like that. I have doubts they would have put the belt on him though since he was known to be unreliable. He of course ended up working against Undertaker who turned babyface with Wrestlemania 8 as the blow off. He knew it was his last match for WWF at the time and used his position as the veteran to take advantage of Undertaker to change the finish. Got counted out instead of pinned by changing the tombstone to be on the floor instead of in the ring like he was supposed to, Jake is no angel when it comes to trying to screw people's pushes either.

      Correct. They had time to change the main event to Hogan/Sid vs. Slaughter/Adnan/Mustafa. Or if they wanted to keep Sid as the referee, they could have tagged Hogan with Savage, who would return to the ring a few months later anyway.
      My understanding is that Warrior sent that letter to Vince in July 1991 shortly after he received what he felt was an unfair payoff for WM7. He didn’t receive the payoff until a few months later, which is why it all happened so close to Summerslam. But I guess there really isn’t really a good time to hold up someone for money.

    Turns out it was actually Bad News Brown’s idea for Warrior to ask for more money. Further, Warrior was reluctant to do it, and Brown told him that if it was him, it’s what he’d do, and either take his advice & get more money or not.

      The conversation with Bad News was before the WrestleMania match with Hulk when the contracts weren't even signed. Warrior wasn't sure what to ask for regarding pay so he asked Bad News Allen for advise. Bad News told him he should negotiate the same amount Hulk was getting. Warrior asked Vince what was Hulk getting (which was a million dollars) and said he wanted the same amount. Vince agreed but for some reason after the Wrestlemania match he didn't get paid the full amount. Warrior faxed a letter over to Vince saying if he didn't get the rest owed that they both agreed to he would no-show the next pay-per-view, Summerslam, which was over a month away. Vince agreed to paying him and then fired him after the SummerSlam match.
      Vince keeps pushing the lie that Warrior held him up the day of SummerSlam over and over. Warrior, previous to his death, uploaded a copy of the letter Vince signed agreeing to pay Warrior what they agreed on and it clearly showed the date.

This is something that most students of the game dont acheive.Hormone supplementation can also influence the brain in negative ways. A combination of childhood trauma, low self esteem, and Hormone supplementation/abuse are all reasons for his paranoid, egocentric, antisocial, and delusional behavior. All of that is too much to think about so its easier to just write him off as a nut. As nuts as he was, he was smart enough to make it to the top with such efficiency that has yet to be seen again. • @fuzzluvver69

    This is so full of basic errors that it's ridiculous. First of all, this video is presented as though Warrior wrote that letter and handed it to Vince right before his match - this is demonstrably false, and the crucial context that led to it is ignored. The REALITY is that Warrior was promised a full year earlier when he got the championship that he would be paid equally and receive the same other benefits in the company from that point onward that Hogan was receiving. Nobody including Hogan should be paid a higher amount on the card. And Vince agreed to in 1990. In other words, what was originally agreed in 1987 was completely irrelevant by the time we get to 1991.
    Vince, as is usual for Vince in his perpetual state of arrogance, thought he could just ignore that agreement when it suited him, and when it came to Wrestlemanie VII, for whatever reason (could have been downturn in business, change to smaller arena meaning lower gate receipts or something else) he made the decision to pay Warrior significantly less than what was agreed. The letter Warrior wrote was him wanting it on record in writing what WAS ALREADY AGREED and had already been in place prior to Vince going against the agreement at Mania VII. And the letter was drafted and given to Vince WEEKS before Summerslam took place.
    Vince firing Warrior after the Summerslam was in reality him being embarrassed at not having total control, something that a total, indisputable, well known control freak like Vince would absolutely hate and have no way of psychologically accepting.
    That is what happened.
    Also, the 'Jake was going to be champion' part is literally just a fabrication. A lie. It doesn't fit in the WWF timeline in any way from that time. But then, as amazing as he was in the ring, Jake was a well-known liar, as everyone knows.
    But hey, don't let reality get in the way of a rahash of the old WWE character assassination DVD they did about 15 years ago, which is what this video is.

It's like trying to get a high paying job, but you don't wanna go to school to learn what's necessary for that position. Wanting to be a doctor when you only have training in a fast food joint isn't going to fly anywhere!

  • @oldschoolprowrestling2653

    For a few years, Ultimate Warrior was almost on the same level as Hogan, and in 1991 he deserved to be paid as such. Vince agreed that's the bottom line, then SUSPENDED him like a tyrant because Warrior asked to be paid, it's simple, he still had not been paid his Mania payoff by the end of August, Mania was in March. Sadly for Vince, suspending the Warrior permanently derailed Ultimate Warrior's momentum, he was never quite the same after that. Warrior wasn't fired until November 8 1992, he had always been under contract since signing in October 1987, his contract had ended without anyone noticing in October 1992. ( Much like Lex Luger in 1995)
    Warrior had his issues prior, but It all really started because Warrior was quick-tempered and snapped at a kid at an airport in July 1991 who just happened to be the son of a friend and business associate of the McMahon Family. He had just gone through a divorce, and with the obvious roid rage, things went downhill.

I'm guessing he just means main event run since he's complaining about the money but it almost sounds like he's blaming the Warrior for not being WWF Champion himself.

    Outstanding video post, now I have Jake "The Snake" Roberts "Pick Your Poison" DVD which I own. He definitely discussed the issue. With respect to your content, the people who gave amazing interview pieces with the exception of Jim Cornette. As well my having a somewhat layman's idea of the cult of wrestling. I actually agreed with The Ultimate Warrior's position. Not his conduct though, because there was a better way to do what he did. First, don't hold up others from getting their money when you are booked. If the WWE's final decision was not going to give him a raise. WCW was always out there and the late Jim Warrior definitely began his wrestling career with Sting (Steve Borden). Jim Warrior definitely had a right to seek fair compensation for his work and representing the WWF at the time as their champion or top guy. Maybe he was paid a fair amount, maybe he wasn't and that's what's unclear to me.

    • @markl5998
      @markl5998 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      McMahon was already paying Hogan an arm and a leg, and if the warrior started getting paid similar or equal amounts, sets a dangerous precedent for the rest of the roster as far as compensation. Also this was still around the time before wrestlers were openly discussing payoffs with eachother, so it would benefit McMahon to pay everyone as little as possible, still banking on the fact that at that time wrestlers didn't really talk money with eachother as much.

    • @CTDisqoTeck78
      @CTDisqoTeck78 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markl5998 I appreciate your point, but I didn't take it that far. The Ultimate Warrior was not worth Hulk Hogan money first and foremost. Again, Vince McMahon did make him the top guy which means The Ultimate Warrior had a right to seek fair compensation to the position he had.

      @fuzzluvver69 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@markl5998 1988 through 1991 Warrior was every bit Hogan's equal in popularity. And it's not a question of what he was worth. A lot of people don't know enough about this situation, it was ALREADY agreed when Warrior became champion in 1990 that he would receive the same payoffs as Hogan, the agreement was that he didn't want more than Hogan, but that as a point of principle Hogan shouldn't receive a higher payoff than him. That was what was agreed, and it wasn't Warrior that reneged on it, it was Vince, who underpaid Warrior for Mania VII. Warrior's letter was putting it in writing on record to hold McMahon to what he had ALREADY agreed AND been actually paying for the full previous year, and NOT as trash documentaries like this try to paint out as 'holding Vince up for money'. This is the reality of the situation, but the sanitised Vince version is the one that has trickled down more effectively to today's audience sadly.
