Lots in Newfoundland. We hunt them in the fall each year for meat. It's sometimes hard getting a license, though.

@@91lilfrozone23 yeah, I'd personally never be able to fire a gun at them, but I guess I'd much rather eat meat from an animal that had lived a natural life prior to it's death, as opposed to one raised by a farmer. It's a part of our heritage and our cultural diet too, like eating rabbit meat, so it's not as odd or shocking to us here. But I understand eating meat isn't for everyone.
I like how they feel right at home in the hustle and bustle!!!

Crazy thing is, those are on the small side for moose. If I were hunting moose, I wouldn't bother shooting this bull. Looks too young.

It is cool. The coolest part is that the folks are savvy enough to know to give the animal a wide berth. If anyone had tried to get close for any reason, things could have gotten nasty fast.

I work as an OTR driver and one day I pulled off to take a piss and out of the trees came a momma and her calf right up to me. Scared the shit out of me but she seemed more curious than aggressive.
I've seen much bigger moose wearing those size antlers. I'm from eastern Canada, and that is a small moose.

Back in time poor farmers in Sweden that couldn't afford a horse used them for both plowing and riding. Be aware - if you ever try to tame or horse ride them you have to sit very far back. Their back is not as strong as a back of a horse and the weight have to lay all on the backbones.

This is not a rare thing in nfld. My hometown sits on its own peninsula, one way in and out. I have had to shoo them away from my driveway, every morning around dawn they're down by the ocean; they crave the salt. Coming into town down by the ocean means you are driving down a 130 metre mountain range, that's how they get in town. Have seen them at the top, making their way down through the woods or through the woods and then onto the highway straight into town. Most times they jump off into the woods once they are down off the mountain. The area where my hometown is located is in area 40 on the Northern Peninsula. Area 40 has the most moose on the Northern Peninsula, hence why my hometown has been named Moose capital of the world.
He's just a small guy really. They get much larger than that.
I wish I lived in an area like that.. The only time people stop and watch where I live is usually for a man who can't keep his pants up, screaming and saying the N word every 3 words.
