+jvinson Saw them and the RnR Express go at in Cleveland mid 80's, my brother and myself were cheering for the Midnight Express and got the evil eye from all the RnR Express fans around us.
All the thousands and thousands of people that write to us every week, shut ins, were role models for America's youth, were Christian athletes, all the civic organizations, the Boy Scout Troops that call us and want us to speak to them." One of the more funny and better Midnight Express promos.
I well remember when Stan,Bobby and Corny came and talked to our Boy Scout troop. What an inspiration they were. Why just that night we stole $2700 worth of ornaments from the church and boosted 3 cars.
That had to have been the greatest tag team feud of all time between the Midnight Express and Rock n Roll Express. That feud was bigger than the Von Erichs and Freebirds, and has lasted for alot longer.
Classic Dusty Finish. Also, David Crockett just said We'll be back with 8 man cage match right after this. I guarantee their were just 7-10 minutes left in the show. By the time the cage match starts, their are just 2-3 minutes left in the show. No complaining, I loved 80s NWA/JCP. They just did those two things too many times.
I know Cornette was the catalyst behind the Midnight Express as the mouthpiece, but damn Stan Lane could cut a promo. He was articulate and was convincing behind the mix. Too bad he never had a big singles run.
The NWA featured the four definitive teams for their particular style in that generation: (in terms of success gained with that style and influence on the biz). LOD- Kickass power tag team RnR - Young, smaller, athletic babyface team with great teamwork and high flying Midnights - heel technical-ring general team that ALSO had the athletic ability and moveset of the RnR. BUT mixed in the heel tactics with it. Tully-Arn- ultimate ground based heel technical ring general team. Mixed the technicial skills, brawling, and heel tactics in an epic manner. WWF had the best technician-power wrestler combo team in The Harts. And they had the best all around (athletic ability, power, brawling, technical skills as a package) in ring team in The British Bulldogs. But The Steiners came down the pike and assumed that mantle from the Bulldogs in the late 80's!
90% of what fans loved about the Attitude Era of the WWE Vince and Vince (if you are a fan you know who those are) out and out stole from the 1982-1990 period where JCP and those allied with them were making more money. WWE may have been setting the PPV standard, but if it hadn't been for bad economic management choices from some and mistreatment of talent from other promoters, this is the kind of wrestling we would still be watching today. I am a fan of all wrestling, but I remember how much (and from whom and where) the two Vinces' stole things from.
Yoni123, I am so agreeing with that. The entire "hardcore revolution", though, was through guys like Terry Funk *long before* ECW happened. ECW, however, gave that part of the pro wrestling landscape a voice. It played a major part, no doubt at all.
David Welsh yeah, definitely, that's the root of it (hardcore). you got this shit down. personally, I have to say I love that Funk vs. Flair no DQ match
I agree with ya 100% I will NEVER WATCH WWE CRAP. But if you miss the ol NWA then do what I do,Google superstar pro wrestling game and order it.I got mine in 1984 when it came out.Mon-Thu I do house shows where you go on tour and follow the feuds.Fri-Sun I do the old WTBS T.V. tapings and then head out on tour again come Monday night.I even hold PPVs Now lets see Vince F that up.I love to tour.My team is the Freebirds. They were the only reason I got into wrestling.I love to tour.Monday night
8 man cage so my guess is the The Horsemen vs. Dusty, Nikita, Road Warriors....there's a video of that match but not long after the entrances they went off the air during the match...classic JCP
we ,re in Baltimore vs the Von Erichs in a cage and then Tuesday we,re in say Miami in a barbed wire match. Then come Friday we do the T.V. tapings that just the fans can see and then we are back on tour again.I can see it every night while fans at home only get to see it on weekends and PPVs.Hell think of the money I save on tickets. And if I wanna watch it, I have youtube.Just google the game and you will be glad ya did.Hope this helps cos us old schoolers stick together.F the WWE and Vince.
The 70s were the best wrestling time for WWWF.. The 80s were the most exciting... then starting in the 1990s, the WWF product started to go downhill.. .and each year it has gotten worse... I actually prefer TNA now........
Amazing how many people cheered the Midnight Express at this time.
+jvinson Saw them and the RnR Express go at in Cleveland mid 80's, my brother and myself were cheering for the Midnight Express and got the evil eye from all the RnR Express fans around us.
Shouldn't let the training bra wearing horde scare you. These men are Christian athletes.
That night was about 80% Midnight fans. They totally dubbed it so it seemed like RNR were more popular that night
Midnight Express was always over, should have been in the Hall of Fame a long time ago
RIP Big Bubba/Big Bossman
All the thousands and thousands of people that write to us every week, shut ins, were role models for America's youth, were Christian athletes, all the civic organizations, the Boy Scout Troops that call us and want us to speak to them." One of the more funny and better Midnight Express promos.
loved how when he was saying that,Bobby even shook his head, like he KNEW what they were saying was bullshit.....lol :P
The lying, heelish bullshit that Stan was spewing was just as good and just as entertaining of the match. Well done! I miss those days.
R&R vs Midnight has to be the longest feud in history.
Freebirds/VonErichs was an ongoing feud that never ended too
@@allenbradford5981 Blassie/Tolos and Sheik/Bobo Brazil easily went longer
Yep! I'd give anything to revisit these days! These were the best of times! Midnight Express #1 Baby!
"...and his mother, God rest her soul, she's right there beside him." AWESOME!
Jim Cornette gives 80% of his earnings to charity. 😂
I know Cornette was gold on the mic, but Stan could hold his own also.
I'm not an emotional guy. I'm not. 😢 Morton diving under Big Bubba for no reason. Sweet Stan thank you for setting the record straight. 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great promo,Stan!
I well remember when Stan,Bobby and Corny came and talked to our Boy Scout troop. What an inspiration they were. Why just that night we stole $2700 worth of ornaments from the church and boosted 3 cars.
How did Crockett not bust out laughing during the interview?
He about did
It was hilarious
Jim Cornette co-wrote "We Are The World". LMAO!! Too funny!
And he bought a copy of it too, that's what a nice guy he is xD
That had to have been the greatest tag team feud of all time between the Midnight Express and Rock n Roll Express. That feud was bigger than the Von Erichs and Freebirds, and has lasted for alot longer.
Well considering how the Von Erichs were dying off. So yeah.
It was close
I love how the fans popped for the Midnights
He co-wrote we are the world lol fn classic
Lol….. jim cornette co-wrote “We Are The World.” 😂😂😂
I was at this card (I'm from DC), and my angle for Bubba's slam of Morton was perfect.
I was there! I'd say most of the crowd was for Midnights. Such an awesome night.
No teenyboppers there?
Stan really could cut a promo if he needed to.
doesn't get any better than the Rock n Roll Express vs the Midnight Express....tag team wrestling was an art form back then
Classic Dusty Finish. Also, David Crockett just said We'll be back with 8 man cage match right after this. I guarantee their were just 7-10 minutes left in the show. oh yeah the cage match was barely shown its on youtube somewhere
th-cam.com/video/AvKKzjh7YgY/w-d-xo.html
This match was the main event of the broadcast
The look on David's face when Stan talked about Cornette was hilarious 😂😂😂
R.I.P. Beautiful Bobby Eaton .
I was there in Landover and the crowd popped for The Midnight Express.
I know Cornette was the catalyst behind the Midnight Express as the mouthpiece, but damn Stan Lane could cut a promo. He was articulate and was convincing behind the mix. Too bad he never had a big singles run.
He was used to doing interviews in Memphis as part of the fabulous ones
Absolutely shameful that 2nd referee interfering in the match. How else would Morton & Gibson ever win?...
This is the greatest and truest comment I've read in many years. Thank you, sir.
He was just pointing out outside interference
@@grantorino2009
Just telling it like it is. The Midnights were the best.
lol was the original ref earl hebner fuck hes been around along time
Like a leach
When wrestling was good!! Great tag team!!
God I miss those days.
Haha, the leg lock got Cornette in traction. LOL
This is the best. Just imagine a time when the bad guys can win and win as cheaters.
I love it & I wish it would return.
I remember this. Boss man was awesome when he started
Just awesome!
"Ladies&Gentlemen the two men that wrecked more homes than Hurricane Hugo "Beautiful"Bobby&"Sweet" Stan....... The Midnight Express!"
I was there. I was so pissed they reversed it
The ever so common Dusty Finish
RIP Bossman
R.I.P Beautiful Bobby Eaton
"He co-wrote We Are The World."😂😂😂
Wineo referee lol midnight express was just so entertaining

Because he is one of the best professionals ever on the mic
The crowd was a lot rowdier and louder than the WWF crowds at the Cap Center
Man that was the same finish for The Bash 87 VHS
They did it...
for da rock
He cowore We Are The World ,damm
Did Ricky Morton ever lift a weight in his life? Big Bubba Flattened His Ass..
I'm LMMFAO
Ricky Morton was and is the best "seller" in history. He was selling
they did this finish a bunch of times wow
R.i.p Ray Traylor
The rockroll express was a great tag team as well tho
Lol. I think it’s “God Bless ‘her/his’ soul” when they’re living and “God rest ‘her/his’ soul” when they’re dead

"His mother, God rest her soul, is right there beside him holding his hand." Was she dead, or was she at the hospital with Jim?
I have to laugh at Stan Lane calling Jim Cornette a good Christian since Corny is an atheist. At least he is these days.
nadair2112 I can’t picture Cornette being a Christian. I picture him being a liberal atheist.
I agree with ya 100% I will NEVER WATCH WWE CRAP. Big Bubba was Big Bossman for WWF
No shit, Sherlock.
Keep digging, Watson.
probably only because the Freebirds kept moving from territory to territory
He Co wrote we are the world 😂😂
good.. now please tell us... who were part of the 8 man steel cage match afterwards ?
@MrBlackSW : Agreed but Dusty relied way too much on outside interference and ref bumps for his booking. Took away from the product if you ask me.
Classic NWA. End the show as a match is about to start, and then make no mention of it ever again.
I don't know, but I sure did.
i know jim crocket is not going to let this stand
Jim Cornette gives 8 % of his earnings to charity, lol.
Deezz1212 I heard 80%
His mommas charity 🤔😄
Whoi did they beat for the title?
you are wrong... he was the Senior Referee at the time... thus he could over-rule any ending that did not seem, to him, to be legite....
80% of his gross? To Charity? Only if that was Cornette's Mama's name.
Good Christian athletes 😆😆😆. That was funny.
@MrBlackSW I thought I was the only one. i know EXACTLY what you mean.
who was the 8 man tag, match?
8 man cage so my guess is the The Horsemen vs. Dusty, Nikita, Road Warriors....there's a video of that match but not long after the entrances they went off the air during the match...classic JCP

The Dusty Finish. Part of the downfall of the company.
naww Four Horsemen were just as marketable
>Cornette a good Christian
Lol
