This idea that the Russian winter wins all their wars is just a huge exaggeration. Sure, it helps, and it increases attrition amongst the enemy, but those enemies were going to lose anyway even if it was always summer in Russia, with perhaps the exception of Napoleon. Germany simply did not have the capability to fight the entire world at once, and Russia was much, much larger, had far larger reserves of manpower, had more resources, and had "allies" who had well-equipped militaries.

Also, it's not true that there are no proven Romanovs anymore. There are three lines that currently claim the throne, the most prominent one being of Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna and her son (i think she's the great-great-granddaughter of Alexander II - emperor who was grandfather of the last emperor) - they are most prominent because Russian Orthodox Church recognizes them as true heir(s). But again, as long as Putin lives, no serious attempt will be made to restore it - Putin ''loves Tsarism from afar'', meaning that he likes to re-invent Russian Nationalism by combining elements of both Soviet and especially Tsarist eras, which he's doing successfully (you can see that more young people like the idea of Tsar than the old people). But he would never actually allow the restoration.

Well I accidentily got in touch with this video while being on vacation in The Gambia 😃 btw the map showed islands off the cost of Tanji... Not Banjul 😛
Oh this is going to be fun to play with in my future scenarios.
Could have it be successful, and an influx of Russians migrate to "New Russia". Of course, there's not enough space, so arrangements are made with Gambia to house the "New Russians" with ferries going back and forwards for the working people, but then some New Russians would live in Senegal because it's cheaper than Gambia.
Then eventually the Russian population could grow to a point where Senegal and Gambia are more aligned in their views than they are now, recreating the once short lived Senegambia.
This Senegambia might be fairly pro-Russian, and with an obvious Russian Orthodoxy population that'd grow into the Senegambian original population, it'd only get stronger even without them actually being Russians.
A new "race" would be made, Russogambians. They'd be citizens of both nations, bringing the two together. Russogambians would be living in New Russia and Senegambia, until eventually they too unite under the Tsar, creating the Tsardom of Russogambia.
Due to Russian Citizens likely still being able to apply for Russogambian citizenship, the population only grows more and more Russian as this union was created, as now there's far more land in a tropical area, it would become appealing to Russian tourists, who may even stay without the fears that they'd have to live in the Gambia, even though they now own it.
Rocking a population around 20 million of mixed Russian/Senegambian descent, the small nation begins to rival its neighbours of Mauritania, Mali, and Guinea, but most particularly Guinea-Bissau, a tiny nation that has been rapidly adopting the Russian language to facilitate trade with its rich neighbour.
This arrangement upsets Guinea which has made a lot of effort to promote friendship in West Africa to become a dominant power.
Escalating tensions between Guinea and Russogambia leads to conflict. Guinea initially starts the war strong, but Russia seeing the need to protect the Russian population in Russogambia dedicates forces and resources to the war, much to the dismay of the US and UN peacekeeping forces.
This action solidified the relationship between Russia and Russogambia, establishing them as somewhat friendly.
Guinea's defeat lead to light regional instability in the region, including a coup in Guinea-Bissau. Russogambian intervention saw the establishment of a pro-Rg government. Over the years, the pro-Rg sentiments lead to unification.
And from that point onwards, Russogambia, consisting of an island citystate, Gambia, Senegal, and Guinea-Bissau, stagnates in growth, but not development. As a Western Power with a relatively good track record, it becomes a favoured African trading country, likely adopting a flag of convenience like Panama and Liberia have for others to use. It's position between the Americas and Europe, as well as being in a continent most people would like to visit but get concerned about, combined with its positive image would be an incredible tourism boost, allowing it to become the African version of Arabia's UAE.
