The Tibetan Empire was founded in the early medieval era, and quickly rose to become a pan-Asian Empire that engaged extensively with the Indian subcontinent, controlled valuable overland Silk Road routes, and contended with China.
This is the story of the Rise of the Tibetan Empire -- from the founding of the empire to the rumblings of a golden age.

I think it would go well with the theme of your channel and I have seen other comments expressing the same sentiment of wanting to see some representation of Northeast India.

Much of the tibet existence has intertwine with mainland from East. From Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, to Qing.

I really like your work here and as a Tibetan, am truly grateful for your interest in our history. However, there is a point I would like to add depth to your work: Songsten Gampo marries the daughter of Shang Shung King Limikkya to form an alliance and the one who spied on Shang Sung King that gave the upper hand to the Songsten Gampo was not a daughter but a sister of Songsten Gampo who was married to the Shang Shung King.

Later Narendra Dev with help of tibetan did overthrow Bishnu Gupta and became 7th Licchivi king of kathmandu in 640 A.D. King Narendra Dev brought Macchindranath from Kamrup, Assam. As narrater per say than nepal/ktm valley become vessel state, is questionable? Allowing tibetan to acess India and nepali businessmen to Lhasha likewise as per treaty. However the Narrator forget to explain in later year When Tibetan goverment not letting Nepali businessmen free access to tibet cause 2 wars between newly formed Nepal(by Shah Dynasty) and Tibet. Tibet was beaten badly and seek help from China to take back lhasha where Gurkhas were camped. Chinese army pushed back Nepal to tatopani and kuti. And when it happened 2nd time(1855-1856) it is known fact tibetan goverment asked help with than Viceroy of British india(letter is in display in london mueseum) and how he didnt help them cuz gurkhas were recruited heavily in British army. That is when 2nd time Qing Dynasty came in help for Tibet only if they come under Qing dyasty rule which was accepted, and gurkhas were defeated heavily. it was financial disaster for Janga Bahadur, and he taxed heavily on nepali ppl. you can still hear a some folk songs where they say hide your food and valuables or else jungeys militia will come and snatch from you. Using that treaty between Qing dynasty and Tibetan goverment, thus how china claims Tibet as its territory?????? questionable and debatable.

Please make more videos about Tibet and other societies that are presently under social and cultural duress. I would recommend digging in to the history of the Bön and the four main schools of Tibetan Buddhism as they developed and interacted with each other. You'll see the Dalai Lama in a very different light when you learn about his predecessors. Compare those stories to how he is now.

The Tibetians decided that they did not want the expense of having to maintain a military so they made a deal with the Mongols that the Mongol army would defend Tibet in the event of an attack. They paid the Mongols and agreed to send a teacher to teach Buddhism. This is the where the office of the Dali Lama came from later it became the political leader of both nations.

Everyone has heard of Mauryans, Guptas, Mughals, Marathas, Cholas and Vijayanagaras. We should learn about Rashtrakutas, Satavahanas, Pratiharas, Nandas, Hussain Shahis, Palas etc

I'm able to see a lot of similarities in the attire worn by these Tibetans, pre-Islamic central Asians(Sogdians, GokTurks, Hephthalites), eastern Sasanians and the Kushans of northern India.

Kushans had a strong foothold in western tibetan regions, especially around areas surrounding present day Ladakh. As a Tibetan, I always love learning more about South Asian and Central Asian history especially since it's so untold.
@Jin Pin Just take a look at Ladakh and western Tibetan regions, artifacts from the Bronze Age left by the Kushans are still found all over the region today, the Kushans themselves migrated from Central Asia near tibet to the Indian Subcontinent

I love discovering new historical geographies. I had no idea who the Azha were. At first I thought this was another term for Amdo, but after digging into it myself, I was surprised to find records of the Tuyuhun, who spoke a language we have yet to classify though it is suggested to be related to Mongolic.
On the note of Amdo, it would have been cool if you talked about the different regions of Tibet, and how the Tibetan Empire that we know it is the marriage of U and Tsang, while Amdo, the many minor kingdoms of Kham, and Ladakh are linguistically and culturally quite distinct, and historically politically autonomous.
Also, I did not know about that historical connection between Nepal and Tibet. Even though they are neighbours, I thought there was more of a buffer/less fluidity between the two areas. Thanks for your amazing work and research yet again!

Amdo and Ladakh dialect along with Ngari Purang dialects are the closest in terms of relation and understanding, they are also the most archaic dialects. Amdo is very complex, the original inhabitants were scynthians, tocharians, sakha (kushan) and iranic persian tribes of groups, same with Ngari and western regions of Tibet, they were all originally inhabited by dards of "aryan" groups, who you will still see in Ladakh today, they are one of the oldest people in the region.

As korean I have to thank the Tibetan for saving us. At the time we had just finished the korean unification war and tang China was about to invade us. However there 200,000 army simply retreated from pur country. It is thought they ledt because of the Tibet empire.
May karma prevail and the Tibetans be rewarded for their good deeds. It may seem long or naive, but Dharma always prevails regardless of faith, nationality, etc.
