This looks like Chef Menteur Highway in New Orleans East, but more blighted. So many used car lots, mechanics shops, junkyards, cheap motels, and abandoned buildings.
Ancient ruins of a Blockbuster at 9:26. Probably says a lot about the area that those things have been closed down for many years now and nothing has even moved in to make it look like anything other than a Blockbuster.
It's astonishing to hear that Birmingham is only the 3rd largest city in Alabama these days. Huntsville really has grown immensely and quickly! And all this seems to have taken place in the last few years.
@@504RoadTrips- I have already seen this and it’s all so sad. Birmingham is so beautifully set near the Appalachians and with the newly renovated freeway system and the new I-22 it should be thriving.
Nice ride through brighton midfield ensley and Birmingham

It covers a huge area, but as we drive US-11, note the vast areas of abandoned retail. Nearly half the population has left in my lifetime.

@@504RoadTrips Have you been on I-24 before?
Could there be I-28?
