At one point my mom had an experience with her identity being stolen. My mom had moved to another state. Once she got there ,she had tried to get a new license. They said she had to prove her identity as someone stole it and claimed she had died so they could collect the life insurance. It was a crazy lengthy process but she was finally able to clear all of it up. It took many steps but she was able to fix it all.

Mariana you are one brave woman! I love you! Your investigative skills are incredible. This was the fastest 45 minutes I’ve ever had watching a documentary. This is downright scary for the world! To hack and hold for ransom Hospitals, Schools, and basic structures of utilities is very unnerving! Hire more of these types of Hackers to circumvent the crimes being attempted. I find it ironic that the Security Consultants are actually criminals in the same fields! Geez can you trust anyone? I feel for your 4 examples of people that have lost so much! I do hope your tech people helped them. Thanks for another chilling documentary!! Love the content. Everyone try to be safe out there.

One thing this proves is how stupid some systems are. You shouldn't be able to claim social security benefits just by filling a form. There has to be a second factor of authentication. You have to go in person to some office to prove your identity or require some kind of biometric access that hackers will find difficult to acquire.

Interesting documentary, love her interviews with criminals in the Trafficked series.
Would be nice to get a bit of international perspective on the credit card fraud though, I wouldn't be surprised if this was a way smaller problem outside the US. I remember travelling in the US and thinking that the payment systems must be a fraudsters dream, often still set up using signatures nobody ever checked rather than PINs. My European bank card always insisted on the PIN, often confusing merchants, but just making it that much harder for fraudsters just by requiring an additional bit of information that you never share online.

    Great video.
You have to educate people since you have the ability to do public speaking and video production. :)
It's not enough to expect your ISP to protect you.
You need to start getting fed up on your own and controlling "every step you take."
Stay up to date with the latest vulnerabilities, there are people who spend many hours every day checking systems for vulnerabilities. Because of the big mega market, a lot of software is not tested properly but is sold and rented to make money, and therefore vulnerabilities are present and are used by people like those you interviewed.
Maximum security is a classic phrase. Unfortunately, it does not exist.
    Have a safe day. :)
