    I hope people that are in the area and use this shop realize how fortunate they are to have a guy like this. Pro shops that pay this much attention to detail are very, very far and few between.
    I pretty much have my own “pro shop” in my garage and do all my own work because there isn’t a guy like “mfjj” within a thousand miles of my house.

      Dude, I learned to tune my own bow because nobody ever got it completely right. My arrows were hitting the rest, four fletched, but vanes fell off, one did a d-loop and rest cord, but let me leave without shooting through paper, another sent me out with a new bow and crooked loop to "train" to be straight. Anyway, now I can fix everything myself and work on my friends bows too.

    I use the machined edge of a good level to do the same. Once it rests flat on both cams, they're pointing straight. I think my level is machined with closer tolerances than the laser, but honestly I don't know if it really matters because it seems like there are at least a dozen ways any given bow can be tuned and shoot awesome. I think we pay too much attention to tuning bows instead of shooting them which would pay off a lot more for most people.

    IF you have a torpedo laser, you can do the same BUT you have to have the same distance from edge of tool to laser vs edge of cam to laser. No I'm not saying Josh is wrong, I'm just adding to help us do it ourselves guys or techs. Keep up the excellent work MFJJ!

    If the laser is resting on the outside of the cam and the laser dot is pointing in the center of the string track of the other cam..........isn't it still leaning?

  • @btele16
    @btele16 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    If you adjust the top cam so the lazer is centered on the bottom then repeat the process on the bottom cam, as soon as you adjust the bottom cam would it not throw out the top cam alignment again?

    • @GBBLGBL
      @GBBLGBL 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was going to be my question too. Why not just do one cam since they are lined up when you initially adjusted the top to match the bottom? How can that first adjustment still be perfect if you then move the bottom one?

  • @racin11ry
    @racin11ry ปีที่แล้ว

    out of curiousity what cam systems are possibly different from this type of alignment? for example do hoyt bows actually group better with slightly misaligned cams..or pse or mathews. Wanting to know what system you have had your hands on that suggested this type of alignment may not work with that system. Thanks

  • @vancelyndon3416
    @vancelyndon3416 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    MFJJ- got a question- would a device like the October mountain tru center laser alignment thing work as well as the spot Hogg laser ? I realize the difference in design, as with the OMP you aren’t shooting the laser from the plane of one cam to the other like with the Hogg version. But just wondering since it’s much cheaper and can also serve other purposes(center shot/bow/arrow level) …wondering if it’s a decent option? The omp is shooting a beam from sight/center shot area to each cam….would it not show you the cam lean well enough ? Thanks in advance

    • @Corewood_TJP
      @Corewood_TJP 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would be interested in this as well. I have been guessing (but not tried it yet), that if you have a draw board you could draw the bow to full draw with the OMP tool on and then adjust the cams until they are also centershot. So that both arrow rest and cams are centershot. Would that not do the same thing?

  • @bigwestreviews4933
    @bigwestreviews4933 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sooooooo what happens if you move the cams to adjust the lean but it pushes string out of center shot?

    • @rakkup7572
      @rakkup7572 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Factory specs allow for about 1/8” of center shot play just for the reason very few bows cams are dead center of the riser. Also after setting it to factory position, the only way I can make a cam lean even slightly is to adjust only one cam and not the other. The bow is almost dead nuts off the shelf so needing that amount of cam movement one way or the other to get a bullet hole is basically not gonna happen. Mine shot a bullet hole first shot after the tech had it about 2 minutes. They do have they’re flaws though.

  • @rickschmid7968
    @rickschmid7968 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Podium, seems to me when you are aligning the first cam to the other you are turning the deadlock screw counter clockwise which will move the cam towards the red deadlock block which when looking at where your spot hogg laser was to the left of the other cam. My understanding is that when you are turning the adjusting screw on the red block it moves the laser towards the deadlock red block? Not sure why you did not turn the adjusting screw clockwise to move it towards the black block on the opposite side? Please advise as I am missing something unless thats a left handed bow in your drawboard? Cant tell.

    • @rickschmid7968

      I think it's safe to guess that he doesn't because he's ready to take the bow out of the draw board at the end of the video. Center shot is generally done with the bow at brace.

    The Elite Rezult with set technology is i better system the bowtech moves it side to side, strings have twists and cause torque which leans your cam, the Elite cambers on the limbs through the limb pockets countering the torque on the angle compensating for the twist, the bowtech just moves the cam side to side with no compensation or counteraction at all just side to side.

    Could you do the same thing with a Mathews top hat system using the Spot Hogg laser alignment tool, TRX40 for example? I understand this is more of a coarse adjustment methodology but could the same concept be applied for leveling cams prior to setting to 13/16?.

    • @l.i.archer5379
      @l.i.archer5379 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can twist up the cables about 4 turns to increase drawlength by 1/8", but draw weight would go up also. Then back out the limbs a turn or two to add another ~1/8" of drawlength. This will also bring the draw weight back down.

    Why don’t quality manufacturers align these at the factory?

    • @2ndAveScents
      @2ndAveScents 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They do, but temperatures, shooting your bow, breaking in etc. can change the dynamic and static length of the string/cables over time. This is why your cam timing, draw length, cam lean, etc. should be checked more frequently during the first few hundred shots until you are quite sure everything is shot in and holding up well. Every bow on the market will need at least some tuning after the initial break in period and again after some time. Cam lean shouldn’t be your main focus however IMHO, as some new bows will set up and tune with some amount of cam lean especially at brace. IMO actual arrow flight and cam timing are far more crucial to a consistent tune in modern compounds. I could be wrong though as I’m not an expert, so take what I say with a grain of salt.
