I hate how Riot Forge has ended before releasing a hack n slash based on Yasuo or a shooter based on any ADC, really.
I'm still sad about the Sylas game not being a roguelike

I thought it was funny in the steam discussion board the devs said there will be no updates for the just just hot fixes and people were complaining that if there is no dlc or expansions then they won't buy the game and I'm like bro kids these days don't understand not every game is live service.
Steam community discussions are an issue of its own kind.
Still trying to find one where you don't have most people complaining about relatively ok stuff.
Other Riot Forge games had no DLCs or significant updates either. They were pretty much a complete package aside from possible small bug fixes here and there. Also, if this game becomes any popular at all. Mods will always be a good option to try.
The price for this genre they set on this game is kinda overwhelmed. Hope that in the future they will consider to evaluate more before release. Not a bad game since the 3rd studio is good with this collecting game, but it's not a great leap for them either with originality.
Stardew valley gets constant updates, and it’s not live service. That’s likely where those people are coming from.
But riot is not really like a company like the maker of stardew valley.. they're just branching out and trying to figure out wut really good game to catch pips..it's not really good don't comparing Stardew to this game update issue and dlc

None of the games progressed the story. Convergence is not even canon as if it were canon it would have many plotholes, ruined king and mageseeker were events shoved in between actual main events and the characters were completly irelevant in the main event. Bandle tale and hextech mayhem have no story. Song of nunu was cool but insanely massivly missed oportunity not to make a game with nunu and willump a 2 player game. However ruined king did contribute to the lore by showing all around bildgewater and shadow isles
@@boldisordorin9010 Mageseeker took Sylas empty lore and filled it pretty fucking well and made the Demacians world come alive I completely finished the game and the hint to Mageseeker 2 was cool ASF with him tutoring the young female nightmare mage, with the other hint of him headed to Frjielord. (idk how to spell the region) All around great game and opened many cool stories if u read everything and went through every detail. Obviously not the greatest but was a great game for the canon lore of Sylas.
Star Yew Volley sounds pretty cool, will have to check that one out!

Graveyard Keeper is such a great game!
In the base game, which I played through, they have introduced many mechanics that are so ingenious!
1. Weekdays. Sounds simple, but the game has a six day week. Every day relates to one special NPC who is only present at that day. So for specific quests, you'll need to watch your weekdays. NPC of the third day needs something? Better get it done before the day comes or else you'll have to wait another week!
2. Small Map with no fast travel. The world is small enough to not make travelling feel like a chore, but also large enough to encourage people to get everything done in one trip. Need to visit the tavern to sell some burial certificates? Better pack some iron ingots to sell to the smith when you're already there!
3. Crafting and Progression! You can craft better tools and with gaining points, you can invest those into skills that fundamentally introduce new mechanics or alternatives to old ways!
These are my favorite parts of graveyard keeper, and I haven't even said anything about the actual graveyard keeping or the church you have to handle too! But I'm on smartphone, and I can't be bothered to write an entire essay in a TH-cam comment nobody reads 😂
The teleport stone is fast travel. It cost 2 silver at the tavern. I don't remember if it is DLC.

Yes, but the game is a huge grindfest. The walking alone constitutes 30% of the gameplay
There's fast travel in a form of Teleportstone (already mentioned) that allows you to teleport to specific locations (Sweet Home, Dead Horse, Lighthouse, Quarry and Mountain Forth (+ 2 new locations if you get the DLCs). The stone has been available before any of the DLCs was released.
Few things to keep in mind when using the stone: 1) It is not consumed on use, however 2) the item has a cooldown, so you should make sure you teleport to correct location in case you are in a hurry (I had to load a save a few times due to not getting to an NPC in time - a "week" is a long time to wait...) 3) Although you can buy two (or more?) stones, it is not recommended as BOTH stones go on cooldown. 4) The stone does NOT function in the dungeon (or it might - I have a faint memory of the item allowing you to escape the dungeon when you try to use it), but I tend to keep the stone in a chest for more inventory space (especially on lower levels, the amount of available loot is just too much).
And if you want more speed, buy or make Speed Potion. The item becomes available once you unlock the Witch in the Swamp and a little later when you learn the Alchemy recipe + obtain ingredients.
I found the weekdays one of the most annoying mechanic.

1) prolly different from the avarage league player, this kind of gameplay is exactly what i like (breeder, builder, collectors etc) tho im not too much of a fan of pixel stuff in general.
2) I was just soo happy to be able to interact with my beloved Veigar! he was what got me into league in the first place. It made my day!

As someone who played graveyard keeper, the sprites look really similar and the skill tree is kinda like GK, which are elements I really liked. I'm really happy and proud of the devs for evolving so much in the quality of the game and for also teaming up with a massive company like riot. They really grew!

Damn, it's little wonder that the game ui and artstyle reminded me so much of Graveyard Keeper... it's the same devs (Lazy Bear Games). I'm not complaining mind you, but they definetly took heavy inspiration from Graveyard Keeper, which is a game I absolutely recommend.
Graveyard keeper yordle edition. I'm in, it's just that february was certainly a release month. P3R and a P5R rerun that for some reason i thought I could sneak in before FF7's release.
Lol I’ve been trying to beat P3R so I can replay P5R. All while throwing in a a few Helldivers2 games with friends and waiting on rebirth. Maybe once I’m done with all four I’ll give it a try.

worked with a couple developers on pixel games in the past
convincing the teams to stick to consistent pixel size is honestly SO HARD
they really dont understand how much accurate pixels make a game feel more professional
so honestly im oddly excited about that here!
Well, Riot Forge made a bunch of great games, and for some weird reason their success was very brief.
I'm gonna guess the 'some weird reason' is that their games weren't profitable. It may seem hard to believe given the positive reviews and copies sold, but freeze frame that list of writers. That's 30 writers. Thirty. Three-zero. I don't think it's a coincidence that shutting down RF came during 10% layoffs.
@@kurtw6922 Shutting down a successful branch because your management is shit at calculating can't be the answer. That just leads to even lower profits in the long run. Companies of this size have more than enough resources, they could take a hit for once and build up the company for even greater success a few years down the line.

@@Mediados you are making a ton of assumptions in that post. We don't know RF was a 'successful branch' because Riot sets the goals for the branch, not us - and we don't know if they're meeting those goals or not ( 'not' seems most likely since its getting shut down after all).
@@kurtw6922 I mean if the sales are somewhat decent and they get Very Positive and Overwhelmingly Positive on all of their games, assuming it didn't go well seems a bit strange. If they didn't meet Riot's expectations then Riot simply has unreasonable expectations. Forge was making games for niche audiences after all, it won't sell the way a classic RPG does.
@@Mediados I think what you are missing from the bigger picture is that the Very Positive and Overwhelmingly Positive comes from ... 1.7K reviews for Song of Nunu, 9.6K reviews for Ruined King etc. Those numbers .. while positive, are not profitable (even if we adjust that not everybody reviews). In comparison, BG3 has 511K reviews in a lil over 6 months. Those numbers directly correlate to how many people have bought the game. "A League of Legends" story.. just isn't what attracts many new players - regardless of how good the gameplay or story is.

There are still so many genre's league characters could fit in sucks we might not ever see it again. Like imagine a solid snake game or bulders gate like game with league characters.
At the very least, it would have been nice to explore more of the world and lore through the games.

Graveyard Keeper is my favorite game. The story and characters are so funny. I was very disappointed when no more dlcs came out for it, but i got so happy when i heard that bandle tale is developed by them. I enjoyed it and recommend you trying Graveyard keeper 👍

Sad to see that this is probably the death of League's lore for a while, outside of Arcane. Their plan to expand the lore was through Riot Forge, and less then a year after announcing this Riot Forge is dead, so we can only hope (and cope) that there actually is any plan at all.
Id like to imagine the shuriman teaser was for a dungeon crawler type game where we can explore ruins
Oh I would kill for that. As deeper you go you see more corruption from the void and the monsters/bosses are getting more and more dreadful

Sorry I did not finish the video. I saw Floydson's video on graveyard keeper, I didn't know bandle tale was going to be based on it. This fact changed my mind. I will buy this game and play it for myself.

For me Graveyard Keeper became extremely stressful towards the mid-end game and I was like "nah fuck this I'm gonna cheat" because it became so AWFULLY slow.

Edit: From watching the gameplay in the background, you really can tell that they are the devs from Graveyard Keeper! Especially with graphics from items or even the text (like all the [Fish], [Gather] etc options)

A friend of mine and I have a golden Rule (If we buy an EA or Indie Title) we expect to have atleast 1-2h of gameplay per Euro spent - so far no issues if that applies :D

My guess is Riot is dumping all of their money into the MMO they're working on. I've been really enjoying Bandle Tail. Even with some of crafting difficulties I've had a lot of fun with it so far.

Well my dreams of a League of Legends Musou has been erased to dust. Just imagine an alternate take on Runeterra where it starts with a war between Demacia and Noxus, then into Noxus invading Ionian before all of Runeterra joins together to fight against The Void. Or something like that, i just think a 1 vs 100 game would've been cool. Omega Force x Riot will just remain a crack dream for me

I belive Lazy Bear Games did a really good job. Obviously it is a farming game which is not for everyone, but if some like RPG Farm Sims, they will appreciate this game :D
