Nicola from The way of the Buzzard made me a wonderful 16" drum with raindeer hide. I am very pleased. Nice sound and beautiful craftsmanship. Kind regards Morten from Denmark
thanks for that video! I had no ideas of the differences.I feel more educated now : ) and will be able to have an idea when I purchase one here in USA / PA.
I’ve been watching your videos for a while and wanted to ask: In your experience, what is the type of drum that has the most moving a profound sound? I understand that this may not be universal, since everyone has a different preference for sound, but want to know what you think. I have listened to different drum types, including those made from horse, cow and buffalo. Thank you.
I've got my own drum done years ago: thick Canadian moose hide and 42cm diameter. I would like to decorate it with some drawings. Any suggestions about which kind of colors I can use on the hide? Thank you
You can journey and dream and do all the things you can do, using a synthetic head on your drum. It is not necessary to use animal skins. Spirit is strong, and you can invite "Elk Spirit" or whatever Totem Animal to infuse your synthetic drum with the symbolic qualities of that animal. I have a REMO fiberskyn 16" drum, and it works great. Has a great tone too. Works well in varying conditions, without changing pitch. You can use them in a sweat lodge, out in the rain, in damp weather, and never needs tuning. It's an inexpensive, all around, good drum.
Hi Thoo. The link to our drums is here... www.anglezarkedrums.co.uk/ and if you should want to join us on a drum birthing workshop here's the link for that... thewayofthebuzzard.co.uk/drum-birthing-days/ Thank you for your interest Jason and Nicola
Hi Zania, we have our online drum shop at: www.anglezarkedrums.co.uk/drum-catalogue/ and you can read more about our approach here: www.anglezarkedrums.co.uk/drums/ - there are a few ways you can go about working out which is right for you. Gut instinct goes a long way when it comes to choosing a drum. Also you can journey to your guides for advice, or dowse for an answer. These are different ways people have used in the past. What is often the way with choosing a drum, is that you may end up going for one you didn't expect. For example I love the dark drums, yet I chose reindeer for my main drum which is a light skin. I hope that helps? You can also return the drum once you have tried it out if it isn't for you. We have a 7 day trial period (not including postage time). If you have any more questions do feel free to get in touch at nicola@thewayofthebuzzard.co.uk
yes it is...i would love to make my own drum (i'm a intuitive musician and play many instruments) but i don't want to kill an animal for it. So I used a peace of leather of a couch from garbage, but that did't work haha...it didn't get tight...the skin was too thick
Thank you Jason. I'm afraid it has been played a bit too soon during the initial drying process. Will try to make it wet again and restrech I guess... :/
